We head backstage to Jade Riley, who is standing by ready to conduct an interview.
Jade: Ladies and gentlemen, it's my pleasure to introduce to you⦠the new Action Wrestling Television Champion⦠KATHERINE HASTINGS!
Hastings steps into the view of the camera with the Television title draped over her right shoulder. Her eyes are puffy as she looks overcome with emotion. She first looks at Jade with a warm smile - they share an embrace. She then looks at her prize.
The crowd begins to chant.
Crowd: BATTLE KAT! BATTLE KAT! BATTLE KAT! BATTLE KAT! BATTLE KAT! BATTLE KAT!
Hastings clears her throat and wipes her cheeks with a large smile on her face.
Kat: Thank you guysβ¦ thank you all so much, I still canβt believe this is all happening.
She recomposes herself.
Kat: A long time agoβ¦ there was this little girl who would sit on her fatherβs knee at 2 in the morning, because thatβs what you had to do to watch live wrestling over in England back then. That little girl was me; I would sneak down in my pyjamas, and my dad's a big softy and he would let me stay up. And together we watch some of the great champions of that era fight in the ring over a belt similar to this very one I possessβ¦
She pulls off the belt from her shoulder and cradles it in her arms.
Kat: Fast forward 20 something years, and Iβm now the Television Champion in one of the deepest divisions in this great promotion - the premier wrestling company in the world.
Crowd: ACTION! ACTION! ACTION! ACTION! ACTION! ACTION! ACTION! ACTION! ACTION!
Kat: I bested one of the greatest champions this company has ever seen, a future Hall of Famer - Claire Hawkins. Claire, I know we said some mean words to each other this last week, but the respect I held for you still exists, and I know we will dance together again in future.
The crowd cheers continue.
Kat: I want to dedicate this win to my parents - I love you both so much, and my brothers! MATTY - IβM THE CHAMP!!
She laughs to herself and then quickly recomposes once more.
Kat: And I dedicate this win to all the boys and girls who will sit there on the couch and watch wrestlers like myself, or Claire Hawkins, Sam Kidsgrove, Johnny Bacchus, even Lissie Hope, just like I did many moons ago. Dreams do come true, if you work hard enough, anything is possibleβ¦
Crowd: BATTLE KAT! BATTLE KAT! BATTLE KAT! BATTLE KAT! BATTLE KAT! BATTLE KAT!
She holds up her title proudly in the air.
