We go to a press conference set-up by Action Wrestling. A podium is set-up in the front of the room with the Action Wrestling logo on it. In front of that are a collection of photographers and journalists. They are seated and waiting for the press conference to start. They are 6 feet apart and masked per COVID regulations.
Nobody is quite sure what the announcement is set to be, but everyone knows that it's set to be a good one.
Eventually, the tension is broken as the President of Action Wrestling himself Torture enters the room. He marches to the podium and clears his throat before taking out a set of notecards. He taps them a bit to collect his thoughts before speaking.
Torture: I have called this press conference today not to discuss any details from what happened on last week's Clash or CruiserClash. I have called this meeting specifically to announce the signing of a new wrestling talent. A talent that I believe will change the face of CruiserClash and eventually Clash itself. He is a well-renowned superstar and one of the hottest free agents left unsigned. His wealth of talent is only topped by his wealth of confidence. I truly believe that with this talent on our roster, Action Wrestling itself can change and become even bigger than it already is.
Torture puts the notecards away and minutely rolls his eyes. Only the cameras focused so intently on him seem to catch this though. Well, them and one other renowned journalist in attendance.
Torture: Without further adieu, ladies and gentlemen, the newest signing to Action Wrestling and the CruiserClash roster: The Young Dynasty, Roddy Zalez.
With that, Torture and the journalists give a polite applause. The door once again opens and Roddy Zalez steps out in a nice suit comprised of gray suit pants, black dress shoes, a black dress shirt, and a grey vest. A pair of raybans are also over his eyes, probably due to the shining white that his exposed teeth are giving off. The smirk he's showing to the world leaves no molar unseen.
He approaches the podium and shakes hands with Torture who steps back and puts on his mask.
Roddy doesn't have one, much to Torture's clear chagrin.
After a bit, Torture is handed a clipboard with a set of papers on it from another gentlemen in attendance. Torture goes to hand it to Roddy, who is instead focusing on the applause from the journalists.
Once the applause quietly dies down, Roddy spread his arms across the podium and speaks into the microphone.
Roddy Zalez: Wow. You know, my father once told me that I could be the best athlete this world has ever seen. And he was right. I was the best football player to graduate from high school. I was the best amateur wrestling talent to never take a scholarship to college. And in OATH, I was the best wrestler present to never be given the World Title immediately. Not like they're losing much else given they've already lost everything.
The journalists are quick to write everything down, making sure to capture these quotes.
Roddy Zalez: I left from that sinking ship just like I left from The Organization. They were both holding me back. My mother once told me that I was destined for greatness. Now I love my mother, but she wasn't thinking big enough. Neither was my father, really.
Torture is starting to get annoyed. He has the clipboard in hand, trying to get this whole process done with.
Roddy Zalez: You see...I am not just destined for greatness...nor am I just the best athlete in the world.
Roddy takes off his raybans and sets them in the collar of his dress shirt.
Roddy Zalez: I am the single best athlete in history. Alexander the Great has nothing on me. Bo Jackson wishes he had the multitude of abilities that I do. If I wanted to play acting on a court or a pitch, I can guarantee that I would double--no, triple the rings that Michael Jordan or Tom Brady have. Hell, you know what? Serena Williams and I could duke it out in Arthur Ashe and I would go end-to-end, 40-0, no problem at all. But it's not just my athleticism that drives me. No, my mother said specifically that I was destined for greatness, but she did not fully grasp that destiny.
He taps the podium, getting into his monologue.
Roddy Zalez: I call myself The Young Dynasty, because when you look back on my life, you will see remnants of Julius Ceasar. You will remnants of Cleopatra. Of Tutankhamen. Of Rameses the Second. The greatest leaders in history...like Charlemagne. Like Genghis Khan. Like The Sun King. Like Napoleon. You will understand that I am not just a wrestler. I am not just a good athlete. I am the greatest human being to ever exist...in...this...universe. I will be the God amongst men.
Roddy grabs the clipboard from Torture's hand who gladly lets it go. Roddy snatches the pen from the man's hand before smacking the item onto the podium.
Roddy Zalez: This signing by Action Wrestling is just the first real step on my odyssey. You should all be thankful that you were here to see this defining moment in history.
Roddy takes his time. He looks over the contract in hand and glances over at Torture. All the President can do is raise his eyebrow. Roddy smirks and nods once.
He then signs on the portion allocated to him. Once the pen is clicked shut and the clipboard is handed over to Torture, the journalists again begin to clap.
Roddy Zalez: Thank you. Truly, thank you. Thank you for being here to applaud me. Now I will not be taking any questions. I am a busy man and I do not wish to give you any false hopes of being anything but nothing. Please, if you do have any questions, direct them to your esteemed President of Action Wrestling. He is much more on your level to be able to answer them.
With that, Roddy smirks and puts his raybans back on. He then raises his right hand up in a wave before leaving the same way he came.
Torture steps back up to the podium real fast.
Torture: We will not be taking any further questions. Please direct any statements or questions you might have through the usual feeds. Thank you for attending.
He then heads back out through the same door he and Roddy first came in. The journalists are in a tizzy. They expected more. They wanted more. The feed slowly fades away as we see John Thomas making his way through the door Torture and Roddy entered and exited through.
