PA: Action Wrestling presents, in association with Big Ticket Entertainment, The emerald city's master of illusion….Please Welcome the incomparable Harvey Marx!
Marx wears a champagne-colored suit as he stands in the center of the ring, broad smile across his face. The showman is joined by Leo, who sits at a table dressed with an ornately colored cloth. Unlike most tables, which are often too high or low, this one is the right height for her to work from her wheelchair. She smiles, drawing the crowd in. She’s dressed in vest and slacks to match Harvey’s ensemble.
Harvey shows all the poise of a man who knows his craft. He lifts his arms in appreciation beside Leonora. Three spark fountains rain down, giving the appearance of a golden curtain behind Marx. He turns slowly, playing to the crowd and cameras alike. Each time he turns to face a different rope in the squared circle, another row of fountains is set off above the ring until Harvey and Leo are partially shrouded by fireworks all around. He starts turning in circles quickly. When he stops he bows to the announce desk in unison with a massive pyro burst from all four ring posts. Music ends.
Thank you! What a beautiful night in Meridian and what a beautiful crowd here at Tide Arena! Last week I was in the ring with The Sin Eater, and tonight I’ll see John Black, a masked recluse. Sounds perfect. You see, The Big Ticket started out in a circus. I've seen every kind of oddball, outcast and spandex-clad wannabe superhero this world has to offer. And it did wonders for my career! So keep the freaks coming.
JB, you've been a wrestler for a long time. You're talented, you're cagey, and you know how to get it done. You lost last week for a simple reason: You're bored. I think I’m just what you need. This match will be like nothing you have seen before. I’m going to take you on a journey into my world of wonder, just as I will do for our audience. Actually that's not quite true. Your ride will be a lot more painful, John. Now for tonight’s program!
A deck suddenly, as if out of nowhere, appears in his hands. He slowly fans them out onto the table
I thought we might ask the tarot about my match. Leo, please draw a card.
Leo: The first card in this spread is about a foundation for reaching the goal..
*Leo draws the seven of swords*
Harvey: An interesting message, ladies and gentlemen. This card symbolizes spontaneity and deception. I’m no stranger to thinking on my feet. Deception is literally my job. I find ways to take people to places they never believe they could go, show them incredible things! I’m not above using a bit of smoke and mirrors in the ring either.
*There is a mixed reaction from the crowd, but Harvey smiles widely*
The card tells me to play to my strengths here. I’m here to win and to entertain, to give all of you something memorable and extraordinary every time out. I’m not about to start worrying about my honor or playing by the rules. The card is just a reminder that The Big Ticket will do whatever it takes to win and look good doing it. Draw the next card, Leo.
Leo: The card in the second position is about motivation.
*The Queen of wands.*
H: The deck has graced us with royalty….and how fitting. You see, the queen of wands speaks to the influence of s woman who is creative, passionate and driven.
*The spotlight leaves Marx and finds Leo. She waves as the crowd cheers*
H: That's right! My motivation in this match to deliver for my crew. Especially Big Ticket Entertainment's own kingmaker, the brilliant and lovely miss Leonora!
*Another ovation. Leo playfully feigns embarrassment.*
H: My crew could have told me I was out of my mind when I told them I'd be hitting the road with Action Wrestling. Well, they did, actually. What matters is that they're here and all-in along with me. If I have to pack up and leave, so do they. That's not going to happen. I owe it to them and to all of you in attendance and watching around the world to put on the best show I can. These people have elevated me personally and professionally for years and it's time The Big Ticket did his share of the lifting.
While I’m on the subject of motivation… There are more than a few whispers in the locker room about my not being a wrestler. They say I’m a fraud. That I should just make myself vanish and stick to balloon animals. I have something to say to those people…
*Marx stops talking to blow up a balloon and expertly makes a giraffe from it. He steps out of the ring and presents it as a gift to the commentary team. They didn't ask for it.*
I will make adorable little balloon animals when and where I want to! Leave the cheap magic jokes to the professionals! One last card, Leo!
L: Finally the tarot offers a glimpse into the outcome!
*The last card is drawn and placed in the spread. The Moon. *
H: Our reading ends much like it began. The Moon is a card about unseen forces, uncertainty, and self-reliance. There are some things the cards keep to themselves. The universe can only do so much for me. There will be chaos in the ring tonight. I'll go in with nothing but two fists, salon quality hair, and a new tuxedo made just for the match….
*Harvey's hand hovers over the cards. They quickly burst into flames*
….And make my own destiny.
*The house gradually goes dark until the only light is from the burning cards. The cameras fade out*
