The Cruiserclash locker room that greets the viewer is a sight far more familiar to Teo than the Clash locker room he had spent the past two weeks occupying. It was like coming home after a long trip. And as he slowly wraps athletic tape around his hands in preparation for his match, he begins.
“Same as it ever was, eh girls? You know, I kind of hoped that while I was doing my best to raise Cruiserclash’s stock in the Battlebowl Tournament, I’d come back to some game new competition. Fresh faces, new competition... And yet what do I find waiting for me?
Two girls who I have already beaten.
Now I could take the cocky route and say that because the two gents have gotten their hands raised against Red White and Bruised an Pineapple Promenade individually, that neither of you deserve to be challenging us just weeks later..but you know what? That’s now how it works. I don’t see you as suitable challengers...but everyone knows that’s not what I’m about.
I’m about opportunity, I’m about competition. I’m about Cruiserclash! And the best thing for Cruiserclash is to have these Championships put on the line against all contenders! So if they say you two are next in line, then you’ll get no argument from me!
But that doesn’t mean that I’m going to take it easy on you. After all, you’re still my opponents, and if you want to take this championship away from me and Andre? I’m going to fight you until there’s no breath left in my body!”
As if to emphasize his point, Teo pulls the athletic tape tight, and it severs with a quick snapping sound.
“I know what you’re feeling right now, Nikki. I know that you look at me as a villain because of what happened to Karlie in Battlebowl. But I want you to know one thing. I take ownership of that mistake. I can’t speak for Bam, but what happened, happened.
I know Karlie gets all the attention in Red White and Bruised Nikki, but did you ever think why that was? All of your primping and preening and self-important promos, your selfishness. Every time you pick up a microphone you try to make Narcissism look fashionable.
And now you’re on your own. You have a spotlight for once because Karlie’s here. So you’re going to take revenge on the man who put her on the shelf, right?”
Teo practically snorts in response to his own question.
“Please. I hate to break it to you, Nikki, but this is no fairy tale, and you're no heroine. Lest we forget you two blew your nose on the symbol of the Gents love for their fans. You picked this fight, not me. I will not be made into the bad guy for doing what I promised, and that is to oppose anybody who in their own selfishness thinks they’re bigger than these fans, than this brand. You may have started it, but sooner than you think...Andre and I will end it.”
Teo looks to the championship at his side, the fluorescent light tinging the gold.
“And as for Nidrah? What is there to say that hasn’t already been said? Nidrah is a continual victim of her own delusion. She treats that entrance ramp like a runway.
Last week you said that you were determined to become number one contenders, that you would win your match because of determination. That because you wanted something bad enough, that it would fall into your lap.
You know what you did to prepare for that match? You went shopping. No gym. No sparring. Just discussing how naturally talented you were.
And you want to be Tag Team Champions?”
Teo chuckles, as if he finds the idea genuinely funny in its absurdity…
“The more things change, the more they stay the same. Nikki and Nidrah both want what I have...But neither of you have what it takes to make it a reality. You want my belt? Show me you’re worthy.
But I’m not holding my breath, girls.”
With that, Teo picks up the Championship and places it over his shoulder, preparing for his return to Cruiserclash.
