SMACK!!
WHAM!!
“They disrespected you, your fans, and everything you stand for! What’s with the love taps?!”
“Whoa!! Okay, that one broke the handle, we’ll take five!”
The scene slowly fades into view, and the explanation for the mysterious sound effects becomes immediately clear. The Two Gents have retired to their private conference room, which is more aptly described as a training facility. Free weights and treadmills can be seen along the walls, along with other devices meant for training.
“Take five my eye! Grab another one! I haven’t felt this motivated in a long time!”
Teo’s voice echoes out to his tag partner, who is standing and holding a padded target, upon which is painted the sneering face of Karlie Nash. Designed to be held by a trainer while the trainee kicks it, Teo has split the wooden core of the target with his last roundhouse.
“The enthusiasm is encouraging Teo! But you need to think about your body. You keep hitting these as hard as you have been, you’re going to end up breaking something.”
“The only thing I’m going to break is the sneering faces of those two disgraceful bitc-”
“Teo, language.”
“Biiiiits of filthy garbage Red White and Bruised.”
“It’s an insult, a travesty, yes! Let it out!”
“Bandying about a reputation built on being in the right place at the right time, that’s all it is. Do they have accomplishments? Sure! But here’s the dirty little secret about those accomplishments. Every damn thing that Red White and Bruised has accomplished could have been done by any other team, bar none. You think that any team on that roster couldn’t have beaten Flop in a handicap match? Or beaten Adam fucking Young to get a spot in the hall of fame, in the process spitting in the face of every single tag team to have ever held those belts in WCF?
But I could live with that. Truly, I could. Any claim to greatness that Red White and Bruised could hold up can be unraveled with a ten second Google search, so let them make fools of themselves trying to build a legacy on being the luckiest charity cases in the history of the tag team division.”
Teo inhales deeply, trying to center himself, but he is practically shaking trying to hold back his emotion.
“But it wasn’t enough, was it? They could have finished out their careers riding on a cloud of mediocrity, like aging rockstars playing their greatest hits.
But no. Those vapid whor...ibble women had to go and drink their own kool-aid. Before they personally called us out, I thought that they were a pair of con artists. Before they literally wiped their nose on the symbol of our love for the fans, in front of the world!
Now I realize something important- Red White and Bruised are too stupid to be con-artists! These two actually looked in the mirror and thought they could walk in the ring with the #2Gents and walk out with all their teeth!”
Teo grabs one of the practice targets, looking at the incredibly smug faces of Karlie Nash and Nikki Vaughan, taped to either side of the foam rubber.
“Look at their faces. They actually have no idea what’s coming, do they? I can’t even call them deer in the headlights, they’re daring us to run them over!!
Andre. This has to come to an end. When you and I won these belts from Red, White, and Bruised, we had a vision to make these belts the biggest prize on the roster. To show people what this division is actually capable of!
And these two disgraces just want to make the tag division about them. They want these belts to begin and end with Red White and Bruised. I’d be disgusted if I wasn’t so goddamned angry.”
Jenson looks at his partner, then down to the pile of broken training targets.
“Well then, let’s show them what it really takes to be champions.”
Teo looks at his partner, and smiles, nodding as he brings up his hands in a trademark #2Gents Fist Bump as the camera fades.
