A room without windows. White walls. Six lights. Three of them are off, leaving the room split between light and shadows. The dark half has a row of little red lights shining. CJ Phoenix sits in the center of the room with a pocket watch that he's holding by its chain. He swings it back and forth, causing it to shuffle between the edges of the dark and light halves of the room.
Phoenix: Light. Dark. Hope. Despair. I defeated Keeton....but it was tainted by inference. Victory at the cost of controversy. Light...and darkness. You know a lot about that, don't you? After all, Alice, you LIVE it. Much like this watch, you swing back and forth between hope and despair. A devoted mother of two in a seemingly happy marriage. Bright futures all around. Sounds beautiful, but it all came crashing down when the shadows of sorrow came in the form of James leaving you. He threw away your love and left you to pick up the pieces. You tried your best to do so. You smile when you kiss your kids goodnight so that they still have hope. Then, you drop the facade and cry your eyes out from the overwhelming despair that you still haven't gotten over. Every tear that falls bringing back memories. Any person would let that keep them down...
CJ chuckles to himself and shakes his head.
Phoenix: ...but you're not just some ordinary person. You're "hard as fuck" as you like to say. You fought your way back and I'm proud of you. That heartbreak didn't take your dream away from you completely. The lights in this room paled in comparison to how bright your future was, Alice. A warrior that overcame the struggles and hardships of a broken home to give hope and inspiration to others. That's why rooting for you was so easy.
The smile CJ had from laughing earlier fades away.
Phoenix: Sadly, the pendulum swung again. COVID plagued the world, and it murdered your momentum. Obviously, you made the right decision morally. However, time still moves on. The world continues to adapt and change both inside and outside the ring. When you returned, you were still that so-called "hard as fuck" girl that took on all challengers, but that hasn't been as fruitful, has it? Those who were beneath you have caught up while those who were above you have gotten even further out of your reach. You're a mess, but I'm gonna help you.
CJ sighs and stops swinging the watch. He lays it on the ground and stands up before walking up to the camera. He lowers his voice to just barely above a whisper.
Phoenix: I'm gonna help you by beating you. It's the only way you can see the truth behind what you have become. Alice, a lot of what we do is a reflection of who we are. The biggest example in your case is your wrestling style. You're a submission specialist. Why? It's not because of your impressive technical prowess. It's because you want everyone you face to be as miserable as you are. Causing people to give in to the pain you put them through the same way that you've been forced to submit to your own sorrows. You're just being bitter and labelling it as being "hard as fuck". Truth is, you've become so obsessed with proving that you're hard that you're brittle. The only way I can fix this is to break you and put the pieces back together myself afterwards because I care. That's why I go through such elaborate processes to set things like this room up every week. I do it for every one of you because I'm trying to help you. So when you're laying there, staring at the ceiling after I secured the win, I want you to think about my words. Maybe then you'll finally understand, and I can help you see the world that I've been......WATCHING!
All of the lights come on for a second before they all shut off. The last thing that is heard is CJ whispering "Always...watching...".
