We still haven't been updated on her condition by doctors or AW officials. But we have just learned that at 9pm eastern, reps of Mercy Hospital downtown and a spokesman for Miami-Dade police will be holding a press conference. |

The scene outside of Mercy Hospital is incredible. It's pretty clear that Lissie is a beloved figure in wrestling. Close to fifty fans, mostly girls and women of all ages, are embracing one another and holding up signs. We expect the crowd to grow. |

Officer Kenneth Claymore: Good evening. I am officer Kenneth Claymore of the Miami-Dade police department. In the early hours of the morning of Tuesday, November 17th, dispatch received several calls asking for a welfare check for a high-profile athlete staying at the W Miami. There were a number of alarming social media posts by the victim, and when their attempts to reach the victim went unanswered, dispatch determined it was a high-priority call. Officers arrived on the property at 2:15 AM, and with the help of hotel staff, were able to enter the residence at 2:21 AM. At this time, officers observed the unconscious body of a female, aged 24, lying on the bathroom floor. Officers administered life-saving measures with emergency medical transport en route. EMT arrived at 2:29 AM and proceeded to attempt to rescuscitate the victim. She was transported by EMT to Mercy Hospital and arrived at 2:57 AM, and it was then when her care was assumed by the medical professionals. We want to thank those in the public who reached out and communicated the dire circumstances with Miami-Dade police department. The situation was handled with professionalism and efficiency and I couldn’t be more proud of the officers involved and the emergency medical transport team. I will not be taking any questions, and though we had promised that a doctor would be present to address her current physical condition, I’m sorry that you’re just going to have to be patient until they're comfortable making an announcement. Thank you.

The crowd had been asked to disperse following MDPD's address last night. Those fans have since returned. They are pleading for answers and don't understand why there hasn't been a real update. But we are hearing there will be one in 4 hours. 1e. |

Officer Kenneth Copeland Good afternoon. This is a follow-up to the wellness check performed on November 17th regarding the high-profile athlete that was brought to Mercy Hospital. I know you all are eager to hear anything official, but I can’t give too many specifics due to HIPAA restrictions. What I can tell you is the victim’s identity. It is true that she is an established performer in Action Wrestling and she competed here in Miami at the Fillmore Arena on November 13th. We are identifying the victim as 24-year-old Elisabeth Hope of New Orleans, Louisiana. This is an active investigation. There were no signs of forced entry and it’s at this moment, we aren’t suspecting any foul play. With that said, we are still treating this as a criminal investigation and until we can ascertain for certain what landed this young woman in the emergency room yesterday morning, we will keep all avenues open for exploration. Questions.
Reporter 1: Is Lissie Hope alive?
Our medics were able to regain a pulse on scene, and the excellent team of doctors have been by her side since the minute she was wheeled in on the gurney. At this time, there has been no declaration of the deceased. She is not out of the woods yet.
Reporter 2: Why hasn’t there been comment from Action Wrestling yet?
You would have to ask them. I will say that they have been very cooperative and forthcoming, giving doctors insight into Ms. Hope’s medical history that we may have not otherwise known. But I can assure you that Action Wrestling officials are incredibly involved with this investigation.
Reporter 3: Reddit sleuths have managed to hack into Lissie Hope’s cloud, and uncovered and released several voice recordings that appear to be suicide notes. Can you confirm the veracity of those tapes?
Miami-Dade Police have not listened to any tap--
Reporter 3: But you have her phone. She posted her passcode.
At this time, Miami-Dade Police Department cannot confirm or deny the accuracy of whatever is being passed along on the internet. No comment.
Reporter 4: Were there drugs in the apartment? Did she suffer an overdose?
We are not confirming nor denying the use of illegal substances until we receive the results of a full toxicology screening.
Reporter 5: Did you find any cuts on her body?
There were no active lacerations or wounds on her body.
Thank you for your time. We will give you another update when we have more information. At this time, I would like to plead with the public. If there was anyone who saw Ms. Hope this weekend, or spent time with her, for any reason whatsoever, please give the Miami-Dade Tipline a call and aide us in our investigation. Thank you.

Thursday - 9:52 PM | Mercy Hospital (Miami)
Officer Kenneth Claymore arrives at the podium. He is flanked on both sides by a pair of gentlemen dressed in suits. The crowd of fans is light but local news crews cover the brief address for the national affiliates.
Officer Claymore | Good evening. I know you've all been patiently waiting for a substantial medical update but doctors are still not ready to determine that Ms. Hope has beaten this, much less cleared to be released. Ms. Hope is still fighting to survive, even at this hour. There are moments of optimism, but there are also moments of frightening complications. This was, by all measures, a strong, healthy young woman, but when there's so much internal damage in such a short period of time, and when there was a window of about half an hour of unconsciousness before our officers were able to render aid, this medical staff will approach the situation with upmost caution and deliberate care. Ms. Hope is still on assisted breathing as her body flus-- as she recovers.
He can already see the reporters notice his flub, where he nearly revealed something he wasn't comfortable revealing to the public just yet. A few of them raise their hands to begin questioning, but Officer Claymore continues.
Officer Claymore | I had the distinct honor of meeting Ms. Hope's mother, Dottie, this afternoon. She's in good spirits, a woman of morals who has faith that her daughter will pull through by virtue of her strength. I got to know Lissie through this meeting; I was privileged to hear her story, and learn just how remarkable of a young woman she is. This is a young lady, only 24 years of age, who in less than two years has already skyrocketed into the upper tier of her industry. She is a role model for young women everywhere, and indisputably has the strength and the courage to pull through. Everyone from Miami-Dade Police Department and emergency services who have assisted in this case and in her care are rooting for her.
Officer Claymore | I am also revealing tonight that we received the clearance to subpoena Ms. Hope's phone records. To see the amount of support her friends and family attempted to give her after noticing a problematic social media post really made clear how much she is loved and appreciated. But what we were also were able to determine was who may have been witnesses to contact. We have officers on the way to conduct interviews with those witnesses in the morning, and I'm sure we will gain some clarity on her recent movements and activities that led to her discovery a couple of nights ago. If we have anything to share about that, you will be notified.
Officer Claymore | I will not be taking questions tonight, but what I do want to do is introduce Ian Cavanagh. He is Lissie's agent and mentor. Please.
Ian Cavanagh, one of the men standing on the podium, is given the floor.
Ian Cavanagh | Thank you, Officer Claymore. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you and your officers for being so thorough and diligent in your investigation, and especially for arriving in time and jumping into action, going above and beyond to save Lissie's life. You are heroes in my eyes.
Officer Claymore thanks Ian.
Ian Cavanagh | I'm here to speak for the family and friends of Lissie Hope. I was introduced to Lissie when she was 23 years old, training to become a professional wrestler in a gym in New Orleans, Louisiana. From that very first meeting, I saw the heart and the strength that would absolutely carry on to the monumental success she's already achieved only a few short years later. It was instant, her charisma and her talent was a sight to behold. As a former professional athlete myself, I saw a young woman who had not yet even reached a glimmer of her potential, but she reached it and barreled through it faster than anyone expected. And we almost lost her.
Ian Cavanagh pauses, feeling himself choking up. He composes himself.
Ian Cavanagh | We still might. But on behalf of Lissie Hope and her family, specifically her mother, Dottie, we ask that you continue to pray for her. That you continue to fight for her, to will her to survive. She needs you, now more than ever. She didn't deserve this. She didn't deserve to have to read those messages. She didn't deserve to have her name dragged through the mud by those thoughtless, insensitive, disrespectful vultures over at the GC--
The other man approaches, placing a hand on Ian Cavanagh's shoulder, ushering him away from the microphone.
Officer Claymore | It's late, everyone is tired. These doctors and nurses are tired, but they're going to continue to monitor Lissie, and our officers are going to continue to work tirelessly until we get a resolution. We'll have another update in the morning, and will probably take questions then. Thank you.

The latest on AW Superstar Lissie Hope
Last Updated November 23rd, 2020 8:19 am Filed under: Local News, Miami, Professional Wrestling
MIAMI, Fla. (EWN) - “Cautious optimism” are the words used by Dr. Evan Sinclair, when asked on the status of Elisabeth (Lissie) Hope, 24, of New Orleans, Louisiana. “We are still monitoring her medical recovery, but she is in much better shape now than this time a few days ago.”
In the early morning of November 17th, Miami-Dade Police Department were dispatched to the W Hotel-Miami to perform a wellness check on the young athlete after colleagues and friends were concerned of her well-being after several alarming posts were made on social media, and after attempts to contact her were unanswered. Police arrived and found her unresponsive, performed emergency life-saving measures, and were assisted by emergency medical technicians.
“She’s been fighting for her life, and at this time, we feel the worst is behind her,” Dr. Sinclair added. “But as is the case when anyone loses consciousness, particularly for someone who was suffering alone for over an hour, and in the condition her internal organs were in, there can still be complications that arise unexpectedly. But the fact that you haven’t received an update in a few days is good news.”
While the public, and EWN staff is unable to determine for certain, an anonymous member of hospital staff said “...her mother has been allowed by her side despite COVID restrictions,” and suggested that Ms. Hope’s health took a turn for the better when she was allowed to view her daughter.
Beau Barlow, a Miami local who drives for UBER, was one of the last people to see Ms. Hope before the incident. “She just seemed lost in the head,” he described. “...a total space cadet. I tried making conversation with her but she was so damn rude and dismissive,” he told local reporters. “She even creeped me out when she said that I ‘would never see her [again].”
“This conversation has since been verified,” Officer Kenneth Claymore said, when asked about the active criminal investigation. “We’ve spoken to the two young ladies who shared the UBER with her that morning, and they corroborated Mr. Barlow’s account.”
Officers still won’t confirm if this was an attempted suicide by prescription drug abuse, even if one of those women, Savannah Greene, seemed to suggest it was.
“We had a lot of fun last weekend,” Ms. Greene told reporters, when asked for comment. “We were just getting into a lot of [trouble], being crazy girls in a party town. I noticed that she was tossing back Ox...” she had said during her recollection, before abruptly ending the interview.
In the days since her hospitalization, Ms, Hope, who was holding a World Championship from a competing wrestling company, the GCWA, has been stripped of her title and fired from the company “in part” for “...being found close to death after an apparent overdose,” read a news bulletin on the GCWA official website, minutes after news reports of her hospitalization surfaced. Their current president, Deana Barrows, statement read “It’s clear [she]’s shown she’s not the role model many people thought she was.”
Many fans of Ms. Hope called on a boycott of the GCWA following the immediate comments while Ms. Hope was still struggling for life. “I can’t believe how insensitive that statement was,” said Maiea Jo Ashby, the president of the Lissie Hope Official Fan Club. “I’ve always stayed behind the scenes, but the way Lissie has been treated since this happened has really encouraged me to take a stand and call these bullies out. Nobody deserves to have their name dragged through the mud for their mental health.”
Action Wrestling, the organization that Ms. Hope has built her legacy, issued a strong statement of support, by comparison.
“Lissie Hope remains in our thoughts and prayers as we wait on further developments,” the statement read. “We ask that her privacy be respected at this time.”
“It just shows how much she is loved by AW,” Ashby said. “And how professional this company is, and how much they care about their talent. They even fined [J.C.] Keeton!”
Keeton is a fellow colleague who made disparaging remarks about Ms. Hope throughout the week.
“We just want her to recover,” Action Wrestling spokesman Corey Jordan said to reporters. “We have something special planned for her at Turmoil this week, just to show her and her supporters how much she is in our hearts. We want to thank all of the fans who have stood outside the doors of Mercy Hospital, demanding answers and accountability. Please come to Ft. Lauderdale on Thanksgiving and show your support in person!”
Dr. Sinclair was “moved” by the visual when speaking to reporters. “I know this young lady is loved,” he said. “I have a daughter her age, so working on this patient has been heavy on my heart. Our team will do everything in our power to ensure she returns to full strength.”
Action Wrestling's pay-per-view event, Turmoil '20: Wrestler of the Year will still go on as scheduled on Thanksgiving night, November 26th, 2020, live from Tropicana Field in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Special thanks to all individuals who contributed to this report.
