[We open on Victoria Richardson, standing alone, wearing a dress with the pattern of the American flag on it]
Richardson: You know, we call ourselves the land of the free, but I ask you, how many of us are truly free? How many people are stuck in loveless marriages, unable to escape and find someone else? How many people are stuck working jobs they hate in industries they hate, unable to do something they truly enjoy?
"I was one of those people. My name is Victoria Richardson. You might not know me, but you may be aware of my father, John Richardson, the founder of Rich Oil, the third largest oil company in Texas. I was tasked with being at my father's side ever since my mother's passing when I was little. In turn, I was afforded any luxury I wanted. For a young girl, life was a dream...But slowly, the dream started to fade for I started to realise all the luxuries in the world couldn’t bring me the one thing I truly wanted: Freedom. I cared very little for Rich Oil, yet my father's idea was that I’d soon take over the day to day running of the company with him keeping a watchful eye in the background. I would be trapped…that was until my father’s untimely and sudden death a year ago"
"Don’t get me wrong, I loved my father to pieces…but it has finally afforded me the one thing I’ve been left without: freedom"
"I am no longer burdened to stay with Rich Oil and carry out a job I have no desire or passion for. What I do have a passion for is professional wrestling. So, I have spent the last six months scouring all corners of the globe for the best wrestler I could find to become my first client. I was beginning to think this search was fruitless and I would be forced to come crawling back to Rich Oil...that was until I saw this man"
[In walks a masked man, wearing a full black suit. He stands to the right of Victoria]
"This is Soldado Fortuna. When I first laid eyes on him, there was something about him, an aura that had me intrigued. I then saw him wrestle and was captivated. A technical marvel, so methodical and surgical in the way he dissects his opponents. I could not take my eyes off him"
"He, like me, has been restricted in that he’s only been allowed to work in small shows in Mexico, wasting his talents performing in front of a handful of people. He, like me, seeks freedom and a chance to become a global superstar. A move to the US and me in his corner provides him that freedom"
"But simply having freedom isn’t enough for me. I’m not stopping until I have conquered –"
[Soldado nudges Victoria]
"Sorry, we have conquered the wrestling world. We don’t stop until Soldado Fortuna is no longer a name mentioned in hushed whispers in bingo halls in Tijuana, but rather the name of the man recognised as the finest wrestler in the world. We don’t stop until I am no longer simply John Richardson’s daughter, but rather the greatest manager in wrestling. No longer will our stories be dictated for us. Finally, we are able to control our own narrative"
"The first chapter of that narrative will be Soldado's debut match, a triple threat against Frederick Whitmer and Aiden Prince. Truth be told, my client isn't a huge fan of multi man matches, which offer his opponents the chance to let Soldado do all the dirty work and then sneak in and take all the glory...so Soldado is going to have to beat the both of you down to ensure he gets his proper credit"
"As far as we are concerned, Whitmer, Prince, the two of you are merely gate crashers to our coming out party...and we don't take to kindly to such interruptions. After all, this isn't your night to make a name for yourselves..this is our night to show what we are truly capable of now that we are finally....free"
