Ahead of this week's Monday Night Clash in Washington DC, the Washington Times had an interview for their "Who's Happening" podcast with AW's own Mr. Zaigon Carter. Below are selected excerpts from the interview, transcribed by AWWrestling.com staff.
Regarding the attack on now ex partner America Jackson
"After the tag title match two weeks ago, it was clear that what I saw in America was not the reality. He had outlived his usefulness in our alliance, and as such it was time to send a message to the rest of the locker room and the wrestling world for that matter. I'm not a doormat, I'm not some sort of joke. I'm a former World Champion, I'm a star, and anyone that doesn't act as such in my presence will end up in a hospital bed just like America did. I have no tolerance for disrespect, and that goes for anyone who cares to show as such."
On what we'll see from Mr. Carter as a singles star
"I think for the first time ever you're going to see a different side of me. With America by my side, there was a certain image I did my best to project. I wanted people to see A version of me, but not the full unadulterated version. Now that he's gone, that I'm free to be the man I've always wanted to be, it's going to look different. It's time to see the real me. Plenty of people are not going to like that, because it's going to end very poorly for them."
On his goals as a singles superstar
"Well, that's an interesting question. Obviously there's a big tournament right now to determine the Wrestler of the Year that I'm not in, so that tournament is now invalid. After all, the actual best wrestler in the company is not allowed to participate in it. So, good luck to whoever wins that fraud. You can be second best pretending to be first, I don't mind. That said, anyone that's here who doesn't want to be World Champion is a space wasting asshole. Plus Corey Black and his goon squad have been ducking me since my APW debut, so obviously that's the end game here. However in the interim, I wouldn't mind seeing what that goofy looking bastard Frank Lowe has in his bag. After all, America Jackson found out last week I can be plenty hardcore. But whether it's Lowe, Black, or any of the champions for that matter the fact is I am looking to acquire gold. Titles are power, and power is respect. That is the goal, to gain that respect and power however I need to do it. No matter how much blood needs to be shed, how many bones to be broken, it is of no concern to me. Now fully free, I will run wild through this company without anything stopping me."
On his matchup for Monday Night Clash with Randy Buster
"I'll just say this: If you thought what happened this past Monday was bad, you ain't see nothing yet. I intend to leave our great nation's capital with a win by any means necessary. You can use your imagination for the rest."
