As the cameras faded into the scene. A constant flicker of light from the light bulb began to give the room a little life and made the viewers a little more aware of what was happening and where Steve Ryder was located. Situated on a rocking chair, Ryder rocked himself backwards and forwards as the flickers of lights began to shine upon him. With a smile on his face he looked directly at the camera, the flickering of the lights suddenly stopping - and now a spotlight shone from directly above him, emphasizing that he was in control. His restless eyes fixated on the camera, his long sleeve t-shirt read "normal people scare me", and the smile on his face emphasized that this man was not as normal as he may often look. He runs his fingers through his short hair, licks his dry lips before composing himself and gazes hard into the camera, in his right hand is a microphone which he brings closer to his moisturized lips and starts to shoot.
"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls - some of you may have seen my previous promo - some of you may have heard of me. Some of you, may not know who the f**k I am and don't care to be quite frank. Despite your views and whether you've heard of me or not, I'm going to introduce myself to you anyway. My name is Steve Ryder - I'm from London, England, weigh in at two hundred and thirty pounds - I'm six foot two and I know I'm not all that easy to like - but that doesn't stop me from being one of the best."
He pauses, clearing his throat once and allowing time for himself to recover from his first introductory speech. He runs his fingers through his short blondish hair once again, looking directly at the cameras as he again brings the microphone closer to his lips; he’s in his element!
"I'm what some people call, broken. With a lifetime of mishaps and negativity - I transform these emotions and these past experiences and I generate that to something beautiful, much like the lifestyle I now have. I generate that through the art of wrestling, the most beautiful sport this world will ever know. Y'see ladies and gents, wrestling is my salvation, my escape from the reality of life - it's almost like a rehabilitation. It's what wakes me up at 3AM in the morning. It's what keeps me awake. It's what keeps me partly sane.”
“I've been waiting for far too long but now.. I'm here. And I'm ready, I'm ready to show the world what Steve Ryder can bring. And I'm sure, you're all ready to watch me. Now I'm not asking you to like me or even give me respect. All I'm asking for is understanding. I want you to understand that I will go to the depths" of hell, to get what I want. I want you to understand that I don't give a damn whether you like me or whether you hate me. I want you to understand that I'm lost. And I'm trying to find my direction - and it starts here, in Action Wrestling. This is where it'll begin!"
He takes a quick breather, before continuing.
"You're probably sitting there right now, sipping out of your coffee mugs - thinking to yourself what's so special about this guy. What the hell is this bloke trying to sell to me? First of all, there is nothing special about me - that's straight up honesty right there! I mean I could say that I have certain mental issues but that's nothing special, if anything it's a curse that I have been plagued with. I acknowledge that outside the ring, at times I'm a piece of garbage that has extensive emotional problems but as soon as I get in that ring, I'm a somebody. I mean something. I become a SOMEBODY!
“And recently, I've been beginning to contemplate whether all this time I've been wrestling, I haven't been challenging myself. I haven't been pushing myself to the depths I know I can reach. I've been far too complacent and content with being at these mediocre independent federations. But now, I've come to the big leagues! AW has a rich history that dates back a good few years. Action Wrestling has made legends of the wrestling sport like Ryan Lockhart, Walter, and many others. When my time is over, I want to be able to say that I reached that calibre. I want to be able to tell my future kids that yeah, your daddy was able to say he made it."
Once again he paused, before continuing.
"My journey to the top of this federation starts on Monday October 26th, the night of Monday Night Clash. Where I will take on two other debutants, I face Jason Ryan and Max Daemon.”
“Jason, I’ve done enough homework to know you’re a big man with a thousand nicknames. That just screams to me that you have no idea who you are, that tells me you float around without enough about you to have a defined character. Just know, on Monday you’ll not be allowed to run away from me the same way you ran away from being a man and your duties as a father all those years ago.”
Steve takes a deep breath before moving on.
“Now Max, the blur that was the first 15 years of your life will pale in comparison to the blur that follows you after I hit The Impactful Truth on you Monday night.”
“In regards to both of you, I'm aware of your execution, I know you’re not rookies, but be aware I'm no easy opponent to face and neither of you have enough in the tank to beat me.”
“On October 26th in Mexico - LIVE FROM MEXICO CITY, when I take on Jason Ryan and Max Daemon in my debut match here in Action, not only will I put on one hell of a match, I’ll set myself up to become the next Pure Champion, I’ll also make a statement to the Action Wrestling roster. The truth is coming.”
“Steve Ryder is the truth and it’s coming to Action Wrestling."
The camera fades to black.
