Grand Marais Minnesota, Headquarters of the Minnesota Fundamentalist Church.
Inside the residence of leader Karlie Nash, reporter Toni Wiseman, is going to the final set-up for her exclusive interview with Karlie, who enters the room and sits on the couch, Toni sits on the opposite couch and gets her countdown.
Toni: Hello and welcome to this special edition of Inside Report, I’m here with the leader of The Minnesota fundamentalist church, Karlie Nash, thank-you for allowing this inside look at your church.
Karlie: No problem Toni, you will find that we are pretty open here.
Toni: So I guess my first question is how you became. involved the church.
Karlie: I found the church at a dark time in my life, despite being a world class athlete, I allowed my darker side to often take control, I was a womanizer, you know every town or country I traveled to I often indulged myself with ladies, sometimes multiple ladies at a time, and i was hiding the secret that I was illiterate, and being a public figure, that often made life difficult, imagine being with your teammates and not being able to read a lineup card or sign an autograph for a fan, it took a toll on me, and my endeavours with the ladies brought a serious contract offer from a leading adult film company, an offer that would have made me financially secure for life it was it that time I found the church and my salvation.
Toni: and how did you become leader?
Karlie: it was just kind of handed to me, I guess being a well known athlete and gold medal winner made for a good leader.
Toni: Since your time as leader you have instituted several rules and regulations that many consider rather unsavory, how do you feel about that.
Karlie: We all need rules and regulations, Toni otherwise there would be chaos.
Toni: And how do you feel about those who say that the rules that you have instituted are against the teaching of the bible.
Karlie: Those people can think whatever they want, that's their right, and my rules are not against God or the bible, they are rules that fit the needs of my congregation.
Toni: You allow adultery, and the coveting of others, you must know that there are people that condone such things.
Karlie: Again, those are in place for the benefit of my congregation members, those rules have created an environment of no hatred towards our fellow man or woman.
Toni: So my next question is how you feel about the accusations that the Minnesota Fundamentalist church is more of a cult than a church.
Karlie: Ms. Wiseman that would employ that i push my religious on my congregation, and that i in someway control them, all of my congregation members are free to do as they please within the rules of course, I don’t tell them how to walk, talk or wear, and congregation member are free to leave the church without fears of repercussions from the church, and there are much worse organizations than us and they know who they are, they are the one spreading the hate in this world Ms. Wiseman, The Minnesota Fundamentalist churches goal is to spread the love of God.
Toni: So does that include online footage of….
Karlie: Again, what my congregation members are free to use social media as they please, I have already told you that I do not control their lives, and to be honest ms. Wiseman i granted you this interview to clear up those misconceptions people have about the church, but it seems you're just digging for something scandalous you can share with your viewers, or something to discredit me and the church, there are no secrets here Ms. Wiseman, we are an open book and maybe it's time people like you learn to read it. This interview is over.
Toni: For Inside Report I’m Toni Wiseman see you next time.
