JC Keeton sits on the edge of the bed in his DC hotel room wearing gray sleep pants and a plain black t-shirt. He's holding his phone in his hand, the soft southern accent of his stepmom Kassie comes from the speaker.
Kassie: So are you gonna talk to him JC?
JC: I ain't got anything to say to him, he kicked me out of the gym and then out of the house cause I didn't want to do things exactly like he said.
Kassie: You know it is his gym and his house you should respect…
JC: I'm tired of hearing about respect Kass. Of course I respect him but I ain't gotta agree with everything.
She lets out a sigh, the emotion coming through in her voice.
Kassie: He's sacrificed so much you, you at least owe him a phone call. He's a worried father.
JC: You know what, I'm so tired of hearing about everything he sacrificed for me. When someone keeps telling you how much they've sacrificed "for you" doesn't it make it seem like they regret that sacrifice?
Kassie:You know better than that!
JC: Do I?
Kassie: I'm done. Just call him please. Bye, JC.
The phone goes silent and JC stands up tossing it on the bed before walking over to the window and looking out over our nation's capital.
Here we go again Kabukii, for the third week in a row we'll share a ring, and just like the first two times the fight is sure to go all over the arena. The difference is I don't have to beat you in the ring I can do it anywhere I want. In the stands, in the back, in D-Day's office hell I may break his desk with your head, or it could even be out in the streets of DC. With a chance to face the Cruiserweight champ on the line there's no limit on what I'll do to win.
Ever since the Rumble there's been three names that everyone is talking about in the Cruiserweight division. QDT, Graham Baker, and JC Keeton. That's the champion, #1 Contender, and me. No one is talking about you or anyone else for that matter because they know what the future holds for the top of the division and you're not a part of it.
I know I talked about how much talent and skill you have and about all you accomplished in Japan but I never actually saw that shit cause it doesn't matter. If you are that good you'd be a household name and not an afterthought who's just filling the role of one of the many who will lose to me on my way to superstardom.
A man who thinks he's wiser than he is told me that if all you do is tear your opponent down verbally and you lose you really look bad. I see that as a losers attitude and it could be why he was an 11x World Champion and not 12. I'm confident that I won't have to face the consequences of losing, at least not this week.
I made the mistake of building you up just to cut you down but the truth is you're not a threat so if I'm totally honest, yeah I'm looking past you. I'll be doing nothing but cutting and each cut is gonna be a little deeper till "The Yokai" Kabukii ain't nothing but a pile of blood and piss.
This is the point where our stories move in opposite directions Kabukii. I'll be facing the winner of QDT/Baker and you'll be… well you'll be forgotten. I'm sure you'll be on people's minds though because they'll be racking their brains trying to remember your name.
My name is on the tip of everyone's tongue right now and will be for years to come. Beating you on Sunday at Revolution 3 will be so insignificant in the course of my career that I'll probably have to look it up on YouTube just to remind myself of what led to my first reign as Cruiserweight Champion.
Oh I almost forgot, Derrick Vayden is a chicken shit bitch.
