OOC: WAHEY. Got into a car accident and won’t get a chance to finish this. I didn’t want to no-show because I was super hyped for this match. So it’s unfinished but 1.5k out of 2k is good enough given the circumstances. Apologies to Lissie for not putting in a good effort.

Thomas Snow, accompanied by his boyfriend, Cooper, walked down the dimly lit corridor, glancing at the numbers on the doors as he passed until he stopped at one. He checked his phone, confirming it was the right one before knocking. A few moments passed with no answer so Thomas knocked again.
“I told you not to surprise her. She’s probably not home,” Cooper said.
“She told me she had off of work today and that she wasn’t doing anything,” Thomas replied, showing him a text conversation on his phone.
“I dunno man, try calling her. Maybe she’s just dead asleep.”
Thomas chuckled and nodded, selecting the contact in his phone and dialing. The phone rang a couple times before being sent to voicemail.
Frowning, Thomas attempted a text message.
(Thomas: Hey, Si. What’s up?
Sierra: Hey! Sorry, T, I’m hanging out with a friend and I didn’t want to be rude.
Thomas: Oh, nice. See, I told you you’d fit back in.
Sierra. Yeah yeah, whatevs.
Sierra: Anywhale, what’s up?
Thomas: Well, Cooper and I are in town and we went to surprise you. But you weren’t home so I wanted to check up on you.
Sierra: Oh shit! Sorry, Tommy! I’ll head over right away!
Thomas: No no, you have fun! We’ll meet up later.
Thomas: So who’s your friend? Anyone I’d know?
Sierra: Actually, yeah! She works for AW like you! It’s Lissie!
Sierra: Thomas?
Sierra: You still there?
Thomas: Yeah! Yeah, I’m still here. That’s cool, she’s pretty nice.
Sierra: She just told me you two are facing each other this week. Cool coincidence, huh?
Thomas: Haha yeah, cool.
Thomas: Hey, Coop and I gotta go check into our hotel. We’ll meet up later, k?
Sierra: Cool! See you then)
Thomas put his phone into his pocket, letting out a nervous sigh as he did so.
“What’s up? She okay?”
“Yeah, Si’s fine. Turns out she’s out with… uh, Lissie Hope.”
“What??”
Thomas nodded and shrugged.
“Like, Ms All In, the chick you’re facing on Monday, THAT Lissie Hope?”
“Uh huh”
“No offense to the girl, but why would a former world champion randomly befriend someone so under the radar like Si?”
Thomas shrugged again, growing noticeably quiet. Sensing his partner’s change in mood, Cooper patted Thomas on the back, putting on a reassuring smile.
“C’mon, babe. Let’s not think about it right now. You still gotta show me around your hometown, remember?”
Thomas nodded, a small smile returning to his face.
“There’s a smile. Now let’s go, I’m starving!”
Hand in hand, the two men walked down the narrow hallway and outside into the streets of Des Moines.
A few minutes later, the pair made their way to the center of town, where the busy streets buzzed with motion and sound. To Cooper, it was nothing special. Growing up in the busy cities of California, this was nothing for him. For Thomas, on the other hand, it was just how he left it. He was home.
“So, how’s it feel being back?”
Thomas stood quiet for a moment, trying to find the right word.
“Bittersweet, I guess.”
The men found their way to a small cafe. They walked inside and were immediately hit with a wave of heat, a stark contrast from the cold Iowa air. There was a quiet, peaceful feeling in the air. Thomas smiled, longingly.
The pair sat down at a nearby booth. As the waitress came by and began taking their order, two women rushed by quickly enough to take notice. One with a hair of distinct green hair, the other with a hoodie pulled all the way over her face.
Cooper and Thomas thanked the waitress who walked off to put in their order.
Thomas nodded.
“Well forget about him. You’re Thomas freaking Snow, the hottest, youngest, brightest, and hottest wrestler in the world!”
“You… realize you said ‘hottest’ twice, right?”
“I know what I said.”
They shared a laugh as a waitress came by with their drinks. An irish coffee for Cooper, a hot cocoa for Thomas. They took drinks from their cups, letting silence a tense silence settle in the air.
“Okay, spill it,” Cooper finally said.
“What?”
“You’re never quiet around me unless there’s something on your mind. Out with it.”
“*sigh* I guess I’m worried about Si.”
“Why, cause Lissie just so happened to become buddy-buddy with Sierra, your best friend, around the time you get matched up with her?”
Thomas nodded.
“You want honesty? Too bad, here we go. You should be worried. That’s what Lissie does. She uses people for her own personal gain and doesn’t care where the pieces fall once she gets what she wants.
“It’s clear as day what’s up Lissie’s sleeve. She’s just trying to get an edge on you through her. Once she gets what she wants, she’s gonna totally ghost Sierra. I know, Si’s strong as fuck, but getting stood up by someone you thought was your friend, or even more, that’s gonna fuck you up. Do you think that bitch cares? Not one bit.”
“Woah, Coop, I wouldn’t go that far. She’s pretty nice.”
“I would. All she cares about is furthering her own career and she’s willing to tear anyone she needs to down to get there. All-In, do you realize how many people had to interfere in that match before she won? She needed a whole group of people behind her to even make any sort of splash in Action.”
“She did win her world title on her own.”
Cooper took another drink, the spiked coffee clearly enhancing his mood.
“True, I’ll give her that. But she clearly couldn’t defend it on her own! You’ve done everything so far on your own, including winning your own world title. And yours lasted six times longer than hers! So who’s the better of you two on paper?”
“I don’t care about whos better. I only care about Sierra.”
“I get that, babe, but one affects the other. You’re better than Hope and she knows it. So she’s looking for anything to get into your head and get a one up on you. That includes using your best friend to get juicy info on you to prepare for your match.
“Think about it, you helped train her. She knows everything about you and your skills. She’s the perfect tool for getting in your head.”
“Coop, come on. You know she’s more than that.”
“Hell yeah! You know I love Si! But you and I both know Lissie doesn’t see her the same way. She’s not a person to that whore, just a toy. To her, the ends justify the means, no matter how many hearts she has to break. No matter who she has to break to get there.”
“Listen, Thomas. I know you don’t like confrontation outside of the ring, but this is different. Sierra is your best friend, right? Since Kindergarten? You can’t let that bitch tear her down. You need to beat her like she owes you money. Not just for the win, but for Si.”
Thomas’ hands clenched into fists. An anger began boiling inside of him. An anger he hadn’t felt since he struck his father back in October.
“That skank is going to chew Sierra up and spit her out all in the name of getting an upper hand on you.
He had heard enough. Thomas slammed both fists onto the table, causing their cups to jump an inch off the table. Everyone in the previously quiet cafe all directed their attention to Snow, who quickly got up and rushed to the bathroom. Cooper got up and looked around at each of the patrons directly.
“What? He thinks the prices here are outrageous. So do I, by the way!” he said before following behind Thomas.
When he got into the bathroom, Cooper found his boyfriend pacing back and forth in the small, dimly lit bathroom.
“You good, Tom-”
“No, I’m not good! You’re right, I need to make sure Lissie doesn’t get away with hurting anyone else!
“She didn’t even last a month in Trinity. She had one match that ended in a draw and that was it. The outcome didn’t go her way and she left. The majority of my Trinity career didn’t go my way but I stuck to it! I lost more times than I won but I never gave up because I love wrestling for more than the money, fame, and sex. Things didn’t go my way, I dusted myself off and focused on improving. I didn’t run into the arms of a new man every time I got the short end of the stick.
“One match. One bad result and that’s all it took to send Lissie running from Trinity. I lost and lost and lost, screwed out of wins by dusty finishes, dropped on my head, nearly suffering career ending injuries all for the sake of doing what I love. Lissie doesn’t get what she wants and she runs away.
