Hello hello hello, Anthony Leonhart here. I just arrived here in AW but my main problem is my French nationality, I mean I'm good in English but I feel like I'm gonna be repetitive in my promos soon or later so can the lovely members of AW could help me to develop my character, please?

Does your character have any French backstory? I think it would be pretty cool to inject some of the language (with subtitles) and personality into AW. We've started to get a lot of international characters so that would be kinda awesome, IMO.

Maybe I should've read your bio first, heh.
So yeah, I think adding some French elements into your RP will really set you apart.

What do you mean by French elements like speaking French?

That would be a bit detrimental because of the word cap, you shouldn't translate stuff. Maybe put it in special characters like [this text is known to be spoken in French but it's written in English.]
French settings, French history tied to your opponent (like say there was a French painter who only painted grotesque things, and you're against Corey bull who is a grotesque man), stuff like that!

Lie!!! only his soul is grotesque...similar by different from Blacks lol
I don't see your nationality as a problem to be honest, use it as a strength. With the amount of international players that exist in AW, I do not believe we have one that is French. use that element. You can always develop the characters backstory in developmental pieces and not use up large chunks of your word count when it comes to a match roleplay.

Hello hello hello, Anthony Leonhart here. I just arrived here in AW but my main problem is my French nationality, I mean I'm good in English but I feel like I'm gonna be repetitive in my promos soon or later so can the lovely members of AW could help me to develop my character, please? Hope you don't mind the advice of an on-again-off-again efedder! I'm good with character development, though, so the advice should still prove useful. Keep in mind; what I'm going to tell you might come off abrasive, and also that it is strictly advice, not telling you "Hey, do X or Y." Its ultimately up to you how you use the information. I'm also going to base a lot of this on what I'll be able to see, that being your promo and your bio. That means there's likely to be more that you're already working on that I don't know about. If we're good with that, lets dive in. First, when I have trouble coming up with ways to develop a character, I go back to the basics. Who is Anthony Leonhart? What are his strengths and flaws? How does he interact with people and why does he do so in this way? Even small details can help flesh this out. Looking at the bio, what I get from Anthony Leonhart is that he is an angry frenchman, and...well, that's pretty much all. I'd start by fleshing out more of his background. What led to his exile? Was it something he was guilty of, or was he framed? And how did he meet Eleanora? Why England and not back to France? I always say the devil is in the details, and the more you workshop the character, the better you will be at getting into the mindset of that character. Ultimately, that should be your goal; to make your character a free-thinking entity on its own. Now, one thing to keep in mind; you don't need to blow your load on character development all in one RP. Character development is an onion; there are going to be easy to remove portions on the outside, but the real essence of the character is buried under the several layers you create for yourself. Now, as for your introductory promo: the promo itself should convey what type of character he is, from a trope perspective; a small piece of the pie. If I'm to be honest (and perhaps a bit blunt), I'm not reading much more from the intro RP that I couldn't glean from the bio, aside a possible romance angle with Eleanora. The only thing I could pick up in particular was that Anthony is a man out for revenge, but also a man of refinement, something that isn't picked up on in the bio. I worry that you may end up making Anthony the stereotypical European heel, where his refined tastes are better than the "silly Americans" that he competes with. Again, this is based solely on the one RP I've seen, and perhaps there is more to the character than what we're seeing (that is, at least, the goal of CD). So as far as how you can develop your character, here are a few suggestions: 1. To add some European flair, maybe changing his name from Anthony to Antony. If he is French, the accent would pick up on that spelling much easier than Anthony (at least to my mind). 2. Decide on how tied he is to his French heritage, and from there, play with it. Study up on current events, and decide how Anthony would react to them. 3. Find ways to incorporate the exile angle into your RPs without dumping everything all at once. 4. I could see an angle of rage and refinement, where he enjoys the finer things but his temper gets the best of him. Maybe he really enjoys art, but fails to get invited due to his demeanor. 5. Side characters are just as important as main characters; I'd work on fleshing out Eleanora. Is she warm or cold; charismatic or calculating; charming or blunt? Just a few tidbits to help you get started. Let me know if you'd like more advice.
