BACKGROUND
Who am I? My name is “Crow” McMorris. I'm a New Yawker from the East Village (although my real home has always been the open road) the only son of a single parent named Sarah McCready, a former guitarist for a series of self-destructive Manhattan punk bands whose names you probably only have a passing memory of.
Looking back, my young life was a hedonistic wonderland of parties, drugs and adventure. I had it all, but eventually my mother saw the damage she was doing to her son's childhood. I was missing out on a more grounded reality; so Misses McCready put down her axe and decided to curtail her ways by settling down in an old brownstone in St. Mark's Place. Soon after I was enrolled in a local high school, a troubled teen that eventually excelled in the one discipline I was good at: Wrestling.
I never knew my father growing up, or even his name. When pressed, my mother would only reveal certain facts about him: he was a professional wrestler, he named me, “Crow”, and that he was “A man you should fear with every fibre of your being”. The two of them were marooned together after the capsizing of a private cruise ship she was working on at the time. Spending weeks alone and in danger on a south seas island, she recalled they were on the run for their lives, and that it was during these desperate weeks that she saw a side to my father that made him “more than a man, but less human with each passing day.”
Once I entered adulthood I was ready to fly the nest and hit the open road as a worker. I knew I had to seek my father out somehow, connect with him if I could, but never divulge what I knew to others. “Your father has a lot of enemies” my mother would whisper. “Best to stay hidden, or those enemies will turn on you”.
Eventually I crossed paths with my father at a company named ‘Wrestling Championship Federation’, a glorified outlaw mud show that was run by a drunk shyster named Seth Lerch. It was out in Pennsylvania that I began to suspect I was close to uncovering the truth. But little did I know that others were paying attention, with one in particular circling, hatching a murderous plot that would change my life forever.
The first to connect the dots was a legendary wrestling savant and small nation despot named Bobby Hercules Cairo. Equal parts preposterous showman and brilliant strategist, Cairo was a fan favourite; part of a decorated tag team (The Poondock Saints) with a man who I would come to consider a friend and a brother, Kaz Mazy. As Kaz and I became good friends, Cairo readied his tangled scheme, moved his players into position and waited for his moment to strike.
One of those aforementioned players is former AW world champion, Wade Moor. Another rival with an obsessive desire to see me fall, Wade finally got his wish during our match on the night of a WCF PPV, ironically entitled “Revenge”.
Pushed off a balcony by Cairo, I fell over a hundred feet to the mat below. The last sounds I heard as my heart stopped was a woman screaming out my name. Then? Nothing. Just a cold black space where a life should have been. And that was my reality, until my father finally stepped forward as events took a turn into the unknown.
Who is my father? Bad news to most, a hero to some. His name is Zombie McMorris; a wanderer cursed with a genetic miracle that allows him to exist outside the brittle fabric of mortality. “ZMAC” cannot die; a Lazarus mutation, triggered by occult alchemy means McMorris is hundreds of years old, and that expanse of time has distanced him from feeling an emotional connection to anything or anyone. “Pops” is now beyond the restraints and dilemmas you face, he simply, “is”, and it's this unique perspective that makes him so very dangerous, to the business, and those that seek glory within it.
Cairo murdered me because another immortal McMorris in the books would threaten his stranglehold on the main event scene. Yet in doing so he guaranteed my return. With the help of Kaz and my father, I was back. And as they say, when you plot revenge? First dig two graves.
Standing shoulder to shoulder with my father, I managed to beat a measure of retribution out of Cairo. Now, with my past behind me, I have all of eternity to explore. A nomad drifter, seeking adventure, and that elusive direction home.
RING ATTIRE / CIVILIAN CLOTHES
Marching to the ring Crow wears a black leather vest with a stylised crow design embroidered across the back. Crow’s in-ring gear includes a sleeveless, loosely worn black metal band tee, a pair of long black and grey camouflage print tights (with knee pads concealed beneath), black studded belt, black cowboy boots. Crow’s left hand has a laced up black leather wrist band, while his right has an extensive amount of white tape wrapped around his wrist and hand, the word “Murder” written across the knuckles in vibrant red marker.
Crow’s civilian fashion sense is urban cowboy, biker drifter. The Murder Machine is a classic metal-head at heart and often wears band shirts that reflect this. Occasionally, Crow will flip the script and turn hipster for the day, especially if he’s feeling in a contemplative and or pretentious mood, slipping on a set of 'NHS style' reading glasses he doesn’t need and a beanie as he reads Chuck Palahniuk or a Elmore Leonard crime thriller to himself over a soy latte (Much to Buddy Roman’s chagrin)
HARDCORE WEAPONS/ATTIRE
Crow's primary weapon is a custom made barbed wire hockey stick that resembles a farming scythe. Crow's a New York Islanders fan and often wears one of their famous blue and white jersey's during his hardcore matches. Crow can also remove his belt if he deems it necessary to dish out a righteous whippin'
ENTRANCE
Johnny Cash: And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts. And I looked, and behold: a pale horse. And his name, that sat on him, was Death. And Hell followed with him.
The arena lights cut out. The world slows until the rhythmic thud of Marilyn Manson's rendition of “God’s Gonna Cut You Down” finally arrives, joined by projected imagery on the ACTIONtron, A decomposed crow skeleton reverses time as it’s plumage returns before departing skyward. The ink black outline of a hanged man on a hill vanishes as the noose still swings. A silhouette of a modern day cowboy emerges from a dust storm that swirls around an old west graveyard , the final scene syncopating to the Murder Machine emerging on stage. Crow’s massive form is a dark, brooding monolith eclipsed by plumes of smoke, a human bulldozer bathed in pulsating light.
Still masked in shadow, Crow is joined by "The Shape" AKA the most successful manager in pro wrestling history, Vincent "Buddy" Roman. Roman's face gleams with absolute delight as Crow adjusts his taped right hand, gaining depth and detail as manager and monster begin their focused march down the steel ramp.
Adilene Floyd: Accompanied to the ring by proud grandfather and advocate Vincent "Buddy" Roman...Standing at six foot eight! Weighing in at two hundred and sixty four pounds! From Manhattan, New York, he is...DAHHH MURDAHHH MACHINNNE, CROW McMORRISSSS!
The spotlight follows a methodical Crow, his tall, muscular frame navigating around the squared circle as it billows more dry ice from beneath the ring. Crow's focused now, eager to dissect some poor hapless bastard within.
Crow leaps over the top rope and enters the ring, removing his leather vest and throwing it at the ring announcer. The Murder Machine climbs a ring post and hits a sinister crucifix pose to a MASSIVE POP. The Shape applauds his grandson at ringside as Crow soaks up the adulation of the fans for a moment before climbing down and waving his opponent on.
FIGHT STYLE
Slugger/Powerhouse. A six foot eight human wrecking machine with the ability to fly and use devastating power moves. Crow has multiple options in attack, from merciless brawling brutality to train wrecking big boots. Crow can mix it up due to his amateur background, but mostly flavors a well oiled combination of rough housing and psychical dominance.
