The scene opens with Jason “Skar” Zurra and his wife, Nozomi Zurra, in the living room of Skar’s rather large house. This house doubles as the home base of the Anaheim Security Unit. Although the house may be large, it isn’t your stereotypical high class mansion. It has a much more rustic interior, along with a some technologies for the ASU to use as needed. Some of these technologies seem to be from a distant galaxy… For some reason, Skar is on a desktop computer, with quite an impressive monitor, while wearing reading glasses.
J’skar: They help me focus better!
Nozomi: As if you don’t already have a golden eye to help with that, and then some?
J’skar: Okay, okay. I’ll take them off. They don’t have prescriptions anyway.
They both take a quick laugh as ZiiX and Roku enter the room. Two very different figures. Roku being the tall, pale, very beefy figure. ZiiX is much more slender, shorter, and darker skinned. His dark shades fail to hide the glow from his icy blue eyes. ZiiX has two plates of lasagna that he passes over to the married couple.
J’skar: That’s exactly what I'm doing! My opponent is this person named Crimson Jayhawk. Odd sort. Some sort of mixture of Goldust and Darth Maul.
Roku: Meh. You'll wipe the floor with him. Just don't be a softie about it.
J’skar: You mean you want me to beat him into a broken, bloody pulp?
Roku: Yes!
J’skar: No.
Roku: Ugh. This is why I should've been the one to sign with them! I'd tear everyone down and become champion within weeks!
J’skar: You act as if there was only one slot available.
Roku: As if I'd be in the same fed as you. They'd probably stick us in a tag team.
J’skar: I'm unsure about that. They may have seen you as a main eventer, with your physique.
Nozomi interjects while Roku flexes a bit.
ZiiX: Not only that, but that was the championship she sought after before UCI closed down.
J’skar: That had me curious as well. I was thinking of actually fighting for that championship on L’s behalf, considering she’s with WCF. Although, Corey Bull is stiff competition.
Roku: Still don’t understand why she went to that jobberville of a company.
J’skar: She never said. She kept quiet about it until the card went up.
ZiiX: Interesting. She always claimed she’d never step foot in WCF.
J’skar: Well, let’s not worry about that. I’m sure she has her reasons. As for me, I need to focus on researching this Crimson character.
Jason turns back over to the monitor to continue his research. The other three surround him, as one more member enters the room. He has a good poker face, average height, and reddish brown hair.
Roku: That’s a relief… I was really worried for her there.
Jason turns his head to Auron for the moment, a welcoming smile on his face.
Auron smirks while he looks at the monitor.
J’skar: He’s my opponent in Action this week.
Auron: Ahh. The new promotion.
J’skar: That’s the one. Yes, I’ve been looking into this guy, as well as doing my usual training. He only seems to have one win since joining, but that was in a tag match, and his partner was the one who got the pinfall.
Auron: Ouch. That’s not a good start. There’s a chance he’ll bring his A game against you to earn that first big win.
J’skar: I’m expecting that, but that also means that he will be desperate for a win.
Nozomi: Hey! Why not record a shoot? Give AW a taste of your personality. A sense of what Jason Zurra is all about.
Auron: That’s usually a good way to gain a mental edge against your opponent. The fans tend to like them as well, as long as you don’t spew idiocy towards them. It needs to be authentic.
Roku: Geez. Exposing the business much?
ZiiX: It’s not like he’s saying it to the public eye. It’s a formula that works. Did you two enjoy your food? Roku vaporized his before he even left the kitchen.
J’skar: I always enjoy your food, ZiiX.
Nozomi: Yeah, there’s a reason why we always empty our plates. Anywho; come on, Skar! Let’s go cut this shoot, so you can yell at a camera!
Nozomi grabs a nearby camera, and then grabs Skar’s wrist, bringing him over to the armory.
ZiiX: They wouldn’t be a part of the group if they weren’t interesting.
Roku: You got anymore of that lasagna?
Jason and Nozomi get to the room, and Nozomi begins to set up the lighting.
Nozomi: Hey, the camera alone doesn’t always get the best features out of you! The camera’s ready when you are.
J’skar: Wow, you work quickly.
Nozomi: It’s a gift.
Nozomi positions the camera as Skar tries not to feel like an awkward mess. He takes a deep breath before beginning.
This week is my Action Wrestling debut. This will be my first time at a big promotion. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. My first match is a singles contest against an interesting wrestler named Crimson Jayhawk. This will be his 5th contest, if I am correct. I’ve done my research, and I learned that he’s not had much luck in Action as of yet. He’s been in matches for the Television Title, so there’s something. But you shouldn’t pride yourself on almost winning matches. You should always look to better yourself, so those almosts become absolutes.
My debut won’t end in an “almost”, Jayhawk. From what I understand, you focus on being sociopathic, almost psychopathic. You want to be feared. Well, here’s the issue with that tactic against someone like me. Both within and outside of the world of wrestling, I’ve dealt with more fearsome foes. This, to me, is not my toughest challenge yet. This isn’t to say I think you will be my easiest, by any means, but if you think I’m going to fear the likes of you, well I’m sorry, but you’re just a tad bit over your head on that. I’ll admit that fighting in front of a large crowd is a bit daunting. However, that’s a small obstacle I’m going to be ahead of. I’m not starting off my Action Wrestling career with a loss. I have to go in with a clear mind, although the elaborate entrance may throw me off a bit. In the end, what matters is the match, and the opponent that steps into the same ring as me.
I have my goals within Action Wrestling, but if I know one thing, it’s that you have to make a good impression. For me, the best way to do that is to go out there and win my first match. Taking on Hatebringers, psychopaths, actors… these are the types of things you must expect in a place like this. If I’m going to make it here, I have to be ready at all costs. A fellow AW member named Thaddeus said that I would get “eaten alive” here. Well… now is the time for me to prove him wrong.
He pauses before taking a deep breath.
Nozomi: Great! You’re a bit shaky, but once you get used to it, you’ll be a natural.
J’skar: Err… this doesn’t mean I’ll have to be interviewed and the like, right?
Nozomi: I can’t promise anything. I’m sure you’ll do fine. Just focus primarily on the wrestling, and shooting against your opponent, and you’ll make it big!
They make it back to the living room, where their friends are still on the monitor, Roku looking up some anime on Crunchy Roll, when a new face steps into the living room. A tall, but lean figure, with long, sandy blond hair. She nervously moves her hair away from her face.
