We are getting a drone’s-eye view of a large three-story penthouse suite atop of a tall apartment building, just off the Vegas strip.
As the drone flies in closer, we see Eavan Maloney laying by the pool in a black two-piece bikini, dark sunglasses, the TV Title folded up beside her on a table. She picks up a glass of iced tea and takes a sip from the straw and puts it down, and smiles.
“Welcome, Hobo, to Maloney Manor. I’m aware that it’s been some time since you’ve seen what an actual home is, but I know it’s no stranger to you. You were once a man of wealth, if the stories are to be believed. However, you choose, and yes I said choose, to live a life of poverty. Diving in dumpsters for food. Living off the grid.”
Eavan takes another sip of her tea, and we can see occasional wisps of smoke blowing by. Eavan points over and the drone sees a smoker doing its thing.
“Oh. Yeah, got some ribs going, should be ready soon for the barbecue. Ribs, cornbread, mashed potatoes, salad. My girl, Alejandra, is a hell of a cook. I even have a banana cream pie chilling in the fridge inside for dessert. I’m sure, however, you’re just as happy with a half-eaten Whopper and some flat orange Crush that was discarded somewhere, right?”
Eavan gets up and walks over to the smoker, opens the lid, grabs her oven mitts and her sauce baster and slathers more sauce over the ribs, coating both sides of the half-dozen racks currently on the go. She opens the drawer at the bottom and adds in some more wood chips before putting the mitts down.
“I did all of this, Hobo, for a reason. You see, everything you have seen so far are all things you can never have. A nice home. A home-cooked meal. A beautiful woman. And the Television Title.
You think I don’t know who you are? Trust me, we ALL know who you are, and WHERE you are. Just follow the flies, and there’s Hobo. I even got the flowers you sent me, please don’t send anymore. Especially when you tried to scratch out ‘RIP Aunt Sylvia’ and scribbled what I think said ‘Rub my bits, Eavan’. Just… no.
I AM going to do something for you, though, and I hope you take me up on the offer. I’m a pretty generous person, and despite your appearance and your scent, I get the sense you have a good heart. So I got you a hotel room in Sacramento and a couple of changes of clothes for you. There will be somebody coming by from the SPCA to take a look at Bum, clean him up, make sure his shots are up to date, stuff like that. The hotel has a buffet so you can eat to your heart’s content, and there will be gift cards for fast-food places so you can get yourself food on your travels. It doesn’t solve the problem, but hopefully it alleviates things a little for you temporarily.
Now, while Eavan Maloney the woman is generous and sweet, Eavan Maloney the wrestler is not. The fans chant ‘Warrior’ for a reason, and it’s because they know I give everything of myself in that ring to achieve a goal. I hunted down a Ghost for weeks to get the championship I hold at the moment. I am NOT going to give it up in my first defense. I worked too damn hard to roll over at the first sign of opposition. I’ve been a World Champion, a Pure Champion, a Hardcore Champion, and now a Television Champion. I’ve held gold everywhere I have been. You talk about me not knowing what a Warrior was until I’ve faced you? I’ve beaten better opponents on worse days, Hobo.
Everything you have seen today is proof I am better than you. You’ve watched me fight, you know between those ropes there are few who can match me. You’re looking at my title as a literal meal ticket. I hate to break it to you, Hobo, but your champagne wishes and caviar dreams will not be coming true.
Accept the gifts I have given you, and be grateful for them. The Television Title though? I’ll hold onto this until I’M ready to give it up.”
Eavan notices Alejandra coming out and checking on the ribs, then nods to Eavan letting her know they’re ready. Eavan gets up, the drone gets a shot at her behind before coming back up, Eavan smiling.
“Hope that made your day, Hobo. Churn on that until we fight in that ring. Bye, now.”
Eavan blows a kiss as the feed ends.
