Dandy DiVito, Guillotine (QDT), and 3 more like this
Post by Sahara on Jul 2, 2019 9:36:09 GMT -5
I am Sahara aka Lauren MacKay, former wrestling champion, actress, vampire extraordinaire on the cult Netflix series Darkness & Light, grew up in wrestling, making my return w/Action Wrestling! AMA for 30 mins!
The Reddit mods told me they’re verifying the image I uploaded as proof it’s really me, and are letting the AMA commence in the meantime.
It’s really me, my lovelies.

Honest question, but aren’t you too old to be wrestling?
[-] Sahara 223 points 1 minute ago*
Yes and no. I didn’t start my in-ring career until I was in my 30’s, so unlike a lot of the guys/gals in this industry, I didn’t have the wear and tear on my body that many of them do. While I’ve basically trained my entire life since I grew up in a wrestling family, I never did it professionally until much later. So, am I old in terms of age? Sure, I guess? But by this point in the average wrestlers career, they’d have 20-something years of wear on their bodies, I don’t have anywhere near that, which is why I’m able to do this. Also, I’m told I don’t look anywhere near my age, so there’s that!
Okay, I’m out of time, I have a lot of training to do, gearing up for my return to the ring! Thank you all for the time!

Starting out in a new territory has to be a daunting task, all these people know about you is that you were on a Netflix show and played a hot slutty vampire. What are you going to do to prove to this roster that you belong? I’ve seen you wrestle in the past and some of the moves you do are sometimes beyond your ability, and trust me when I tell you this -- you’re a better actress than you are a wrestler.

Yo Sahara baby! Can’t wait to see you in the ring again shakin’ that ass.
[-] Sahara 552 points 5 minutes ago
Just … no.
[-] Kaplain 1.2k points 4 minutes ago
A Dane Preston fanboy would say something that stupid.
[-] LilacandGooseberries 650 points 8 minutes ago
What was the scariest moment of your wrestling career?
[-] Sahara 2.1k points 8 minutes ago
The day my former company closed its doors. I thought that was it. People say I don’t have a heart, but it sure as hell hurt that day. I can’t describe the feeling of emptiness I was left with. It felt like a hole in my life. I moved on for a bit, but wrestling never left me … and now Action Wrestling is giving me a shot to return, so I’m taking it by the balls.
[-] DesertStorm -900 points 9 minutes ago
How much time did you spend on the casting couch to land that role on D&L?
[-] Sahara 1k points 8 minutes ago
I don’t know, ask Harvey Weinstein.
[-] NikkiLlewdlac 432 points 11 minutes ago
While I realize you’re new to this territory, you at least know Dane Preston, did he bring you into Action Wrestling? Also, ur hot despite your age.
[-] Sahara 443 points 10 minutes ago
Awesome backhanded compliment. And no, Dane didn’t “bring me in”. In case you don’t remember, his wife kind of hates me, and I haven’t even talked to them yet so that should be a fun conversation when they run into me backstage. Looking forward to it. I’m not here by accident, though.
[-] HartLock 900 points 13 minutes ago
What are your thoughts on Lockhart?
[-] Sahara 1.5k points 12 minutes ago
What am I supposed to say to this? He’s the best in the world. Because he hasn’t met me yet.
[-] HartLock 9 points 13 minutes ago
LOL, K sweetheart

What made you decide to leave television to return to the ring? Aren’t you afraid that after all this time being babied you aren’t gonna be ready for the grind?
[-] Sahara 25 points 21 minutes ago
First, it may not be the grind wrestling is, but acting isn’t as easy as you think. Working 18 hour days because we’re waiting on a five minute window at dusk or dawn is always fun when you basically got one shot to make the scene work, only for it to start raining and have them say come back tomorrow so we can try again. Also, they canceled the show I was on, so that kind of helped make my decision, but in the end, I just got the itch. I miss the boys. I miss the crowd. I miss it all.
[-] CrazyKarlie -232 points 19 minutes ago
Action Wrestling signing you is obviously for nothing more than getting them some free pub. Good luck.
[-] VoodoosTampon 1k points 26 minutes ago
Is there anyone in Action Wrestler you look forward to working with?
[-] Sahara 899 points 25 minutes ago
Oh hell yes. They got a lot of talent here. Like Ryan Elias, he looks polished and amazing. So well produced. Corey Bull is another one. Talk about an absolute beast. And you can never overlook Wisconsin’s Finest. Also, people that know my past know I’ve got a history with Dane Preston and his lovely wife. So that should be fun. Oh, and lockhart for sure, but ya gotta crawl before ya can fly, right? So much to do here, so much amazing talent. I can’t wait to get started.
[-] TheCrock 900 points 24 minutes ago
The difference between filming a show and wrestling is like night and day, are you worried the other wrestlers are gonna look down on you like this is some sort of publicity stunt?
[-] Sahara 1.2k points 23 minutes ago
Absolutely. I’d be lying if I didn’t say it was a concern. In wrestling, there are no cuts or do-overs, it’s one and done. And yes, I’m very worried they’re gonna look at me and think I’m doing this for publicity, but if they looked into my past, they’d see this is my life, and always has been. My parents were wrestlers, my brothers are wrestlers, and I’m a wrestler.
[-] JohnofArk 23 points 28 minutes ago
S, are you nervous essentially starting over at what, 37 years old? Anxious? Loved your show btw, wish they didn’t cancel.
[-] Sahara 800 points 27 minutes ago
Thanks! Hell yeah I’m nervous. The mere thought of stepping back into the ring and out of my current comfort zone has me wanting to puke. I have a lot to learn about Action Wrestling, lots of new faces in a territory that’s unfamiliar with my past work in wrestling. I’ve been working television for almost two years, so I gotta work out some of the ring rust, which I’m training hard to do right now. I wish they hadn’t canceled D&L, too, but if they didn’t, I wouldn’t be here now in Action Wrestling! Pardon the plug.

Okay, wow with all these backhanded compliments. You all must really love your Action Wrestling. I get it. So I’m going to work my ass off and prove myself. I’m trying to be nice because I’m the new girl right now, but anyone that knows my past knows I love myself more than anyone else. When the time is right, the gloves are gonna come off and this place is gonna be put on notice from the top on down. Until then, though … I’m gonna smile and nod and play along. *oops* did I just tip my cap?! Anyway, back to what you were saying, yes, I do some moves that are above and beyond, but as a girl in this industry, trust me when I say we gotta put the pedal to the metal to keep up with the boys, and that’s exactly what I plan on doing. Now go buy another Vayden shirt, asshat, because you’re a better fan than you are a person.
