I noticed in the other thread that we have a few NFL fans. I thought we could have a general NFL thread where we can talk all things NFL.
Has anyone else been watching the combine?

I present you with Jesus H. Christ. I mean, Josh Godly Rosen. I mean THE CHOSEN1ROSEN, I mean, Josh Rosen. He's fucking goat. He's 1000x better than Tom Brady and we all know and agree Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time. UNTIL THIS GUY GETS DRAFTED.

I think he's going to basically be the next Rodgers or Brady, but part of me is hoping deep down we see some of the other big names perform really well at the top too. I'm a huge Baker Mayfield mark, tbh, and I hope Darnold is able to find the level of play that had him labeled a near consensus #1 pick at season's beginning. Plus, I'm hearing decent reports about Josh Allen from Wyoming; true? Also, based on my Virginia upbringing, I'm hoping Edmunds from VT becomes the kind of linebacker worthy of the top ten pick they're forecasting, but I honestly have a gut feeling he's a bust.

Some people, I think need to get a room when they're talking about Rosen? lol
But seriously, this quarterback class reminds me of quarterback class of 1983 NFL Draft. There was a lot of hype on Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield, and Allen. Darnold didn't throw but he's still one of the top QBs. Rosen and Mayfield looked good, I mean real NFL ready good. Although, I'm a Baker Mayfield mark too. They talked like he was more of a project because of his on and off the field antics at Oklahoma, but I call that having Grit, True Grit.
Josh Allen's stock rose even higher after the combine. He was on par with Rosen. It will be a very interesting draft with Clev, Indy, Den, both NY teams and a few more down the list needing QBs. Being a Saints fan, I'm hoping that somehow in my wildest dream that Baker Mayfield lands in New Orleans. He is the perfect heir apparent for Drew Brees in my opinion. Although, I'm kinda marking out for OSU QB Mason Rudolph as a sleeper pick.
Can't wait till at their Pro Days.

I am very excited to see which QB goes were. If I had to take one, I would take Mayfield. He might not be the overall best player but he just seems to have something about him. A confidence that is needed in the NFL.

I missed seeing Lamar Jackson at the combine. The word has been that NFL teams want him to workout as a wide receiver. That said, that means to me that he has that Mike Vick, Deshaun Watson type athleticism that teams don't know what to do with. Just, throw deep, baby!

From being a former QB I will say this...
The combines don’t mean a damn thing that recruiters don’t alrea know and goingbfrom college to the NFL is a HUGE difference. A rookie QB has a whole new system to learn. Has to earn a leadership role gain trust from receivers and the offense. Defenses are are more complicated. A typical NFL defense can give you 2 or 3 different looks which leads to audibles which obviously leads to the fact that naturally a QB has to know every position on offense. So what you see in college and the combines don’t mean crap. Wait until week 1 and that’s when the shell will start to crack open.
Sorry guys off my soapbox now.

Basically Frost agreed that Josh Rosen is the GOAT and we're all just playing in his sandbox.

Who do we all want our respective teams to draft then?
I would love the Jags to pick up Mason Rudolph. I think he has a lot of potential and could be a great back-up and see how he grows.

The Jags drafting any QB should auto-make him the starter. Don't even get me started on Blake Bortles and how he has the worst 4th quarter arm in the history of a NFL team in the playoffs currently. Bleh. Jags fans want to know why they lost to the Patriots in the AFC title game? 100% Blake Bortles.
As a Bengals fan I want them to somehow draft Josh Rosen. hahahah.
Actually, I want any team to draft Josh Rosen except Ravens, Steelers, or the Giants. Fuck those teams LOL. Have I mentioned to you guys that I love Josh Rosen?
Also I want Shaqueem Griffin to be drafted so bad, I'll probably cry just to see him get drafted. Duder with one arm, killing it, knows his defensive schemes, can def play pro ball. He's a bit small but I know he can do it, HEART and effort go a LONGGGGG way.

With New Orleans Saints on the clock at Pick 27
QB Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma QB Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State QB Lamar Jackson, Louisville
If Saints sign QB Teddy Bridgewater, or another young back up QB as Drew Brees' back up then:
TE Hayden Hurst, South Carolina
Look for Seattle Seahawks to draft Shaquem Griffin, Pete Carroll loves the guy I hear.

Blake is like Jekyll and hyde, hot shit one week terrible the next. He is not the best QB in the league obviously but his new deal is very team friendly. Considering how much we're gonna have to pay our keep defensive pieces in a few years a cheap QB is kinda needed. Best case scenario is we draft a good QB like Mason Rudolph and he sits behind Blake. If Blake plays poorly, Rudolph gets a chance. If Blake continues to show the improvement he has been, he may be okay.

I don't see any improvement, that's my whole issue. I understand the whole Off/On arguement, sometimes hes GOAT, sometimes he's bad.. but to me? I think he's just average for 3 quarters and he's even worse in the 4th quarter.
He beat the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs and hardly completed a pass in the 4th quarter, he did it with his legs, yes, which was good, but lets not act like the Bills weren't coming back to finish that game off, and let's also not act like the Jags scored more than 10 points? (0 in the 4th quarter). The Steelers game was a fluke only because the Steelers went into the game with total melt downs. They lost the locker room, their top players didn't want to play for their coaches or owners, their front office was completely upside down the two weeks going into that game, the coaches argued with their own coaches, and the QB lost all respect from their Oline.. and yet the Jags still only won by 3 and gave up 42 points LOL. Then the Patriots game in which the Pats offense took three quarters to figure out the great defensive pass rush from the Jaguars and when Pats got close to the lead, or took the lead, all Bortles had to do was complete a damn pass in the 4th quarter and if it wasn't batted down, he missed his wide open WRs almost every time. Bortles is the sole reason they lost that game, completely.
Until Bortles can get tougher, learn to throw deeper, be a bit smarter, and quicker, then I think he's just an average duder who has a job because they can spin it that he lead his team to the playoffs when we know it was the Coaches and Defense.
- Also, statistically speaking great defenses like the Jags had last year, usually don't repeat the performance one year later. (Looking at you Denver Broncos who won a Superbowl with the two worst QBs ever 3 years ago..)
----------- Saying all that though, yeah, they REALLY gave Bortles the business on that contract, lol I'm assuming Jags are going to trade/waive his ass in less than 2 years and they'll be done with him. I dont see him improving and his career will be over.
