Ok, as has been said elsewhere, there's been an immense amount of quality and effort put into these Evolution 2 RPs.
I'm curious - roughly how many hours of work did you put into yours? In terms of 1) planning/research and 2) actual writing? I'm currently on over 25 hours of planning/research (excluding what I'd already done in the feud before this week) but unfortunately 0 hours of writing. GULP!
My wife and toddler are away with her family this weekend hence the 25 hours BTW

How do I know this isn’t some trap to give you an advantage with role plays lol?

You don't
Also, if anyone wants to share their general process, that would be interesting. I usually read as many of my opponent's RPs as I can. If they were in UCI/WCF, I might read their stuff from the archives there. Then, once I have a sense of who they are, I will try to wrap the shoot around a narrative structure. I may add little bits of character development stuff unconnected from that week's match but it'll generally be minimal. This week's problem of preparing way too much and writing too little is a common fault of mine.

You remind me of me. In WCF I would always ask people what’s their role play style, how do they write theirs, and all sorts of stuff to give me an advantage. Still not going to answer your question though....

For Vayden, I had an idea of what I wanted to do pretty much right away. So it only took me a couple hours to write his. It also helped that I already knew most of my opponents. For the Warriors, I’d say about a day was spent thinking and researching. Then maybe another half day total writing.

My RP took a day in a half to two days. I never write or plan anything RP related on Mondays. The hardest part for me is usually the CD side, for me shoot comes easy. I usually average 2000-2200 max words of shoot, and whatever I have left on the word count for CD. (My CD is very descriptive oriented, sometimes too descriptive, but that’s Shadow’s style.) I write around 1500 word shoot one day, then figure out Shadow/Miyamoto’s CD around that. I’d say I was 2000 words on Tuesday. Then I work on the CD & Shoot together till I’m finished and word capped out the next few days until it sounds like Shadow until the deadline. (Sometimes editing, sometimes adding until making the overall RP flow. FLOW IS IMPORTANT. I’ve gone over a few times and had to get under 4K, and other word cap scenarios I’ve been way under the word count, sometimes up to 100-1000 words, but my RP flowed just the way I liked it.) Jared and Shadow were similar characters so I didn’t have to research him like I would say Ryan, Wade, and Casey. I knew most of his #BeachKrew WCF & UCI career since I was in both organizations. I do have to research and re-familiarize myself with most characters. I do read everyone’s RP’s during the week and my opponents to keep up to date on them when writing. If I’m done by Thursday or Friday, I’m zoned in, if not, then I’m up shit creek scrabbling to finish.

I usually start by knocking out about 1/8-1/4 of my roleplay and let it marinate for 24 hours. By that time rolls around I’ve had enough time to churn over the start of that roleplay and where it’s going. I don’t generally preplan my promos in a technical sense other than what I want the development/shoot to be that week. I kind of just let my fingers fly and see where Wade takes me lmao.

I knew roughly what I wanted to do in terms of word count allocations to different parts of the RP (I knew I wanted about 3 scenes separated by chunked out segments of shoot), so I roughly outlined how I would allocate the words I needed within that to get to my overall target length and then went for it. As I wrote, I tweaked my target lengths for the chunks and bits I had laid out before I started. From there, I did my best to continue the recent threads of what has been happening within DD RPs since before Havoc and tried to leave out anything I didn’t think explicitly added to the character and/or the match/feud. I hope I was successful in that.
For Magic’s RP, I have done absolutely nothing and am fairly appropriately hoping for some kind of divine inspiration before the deadline comes tomorrow.

Honestly, I'm not sure if the Hardcore division shoot intensity has made you paranoid or something but I'm genuinely not trying to get an advantage over anyone through the above questions. Seriously.
If there is an ulterior motive to my post, it's that I've only written like 1 4K RP in 3 years or longer (and that was for Havoc) as I've mostly stuck to the 700 word limit here. Perhaps I've forgotten the distribution between planning and writing that used to work for me so am wanting to seek others' views.

Hour of research. Mostly show results and some RP skimming.
Shoot flies for me so the more I have of it, the shorter it takes. Generally speaking, if I have 3k of shoot and I already have the ideas laid out or have a real direction, that 3k will take me an hourish. Maybe 1 hour 15/30 depending.
Story I try to put more thought into. In that case I probably do 1k every 45 or something like that.
This is all provided I'm in the zone and just vibing listening to music without many distractions, which is most RPs for me.
So I'd say all up...
Average: 2h30m of writing for a 4Ker, 1h research.
Big Match: 3h30m to 4h30m of writing for a 4ker, 1 to 2 hours of research.

First of all, I just want everyone to realize that I have a terrible way of doing things. However, I am such a creature of habit that it makes it difficult for me to change things. For that, I apologize. Secondly, it depends solely on how inspired I am. For example; I managed to type out the rp for last week in a matter of hours. (Which a record for me) On the flip side, I have been working on the for Evolution for well over 12 hours now. Of course, that doesn't mean I have been simply sitting here the entire time (gotta take breaks ya know). That being said I generally rely upon what I know in terms of doing research. WHy? Well, it's not like I was UCI, NBW, or the UCI prior to joining AW (like the majority of people were). So those are foreign territories that have little to no bearing for me. LIke I said. A terrible way of doing thing.

I get distracted super easily so I write a little of my RP every day until it’s finished lol. I have no idea how many cumulative hours it takes me.
This last one though, I literally got inspired by it from one line that I had written in my previous RP, a line that was purely a joke (Boom calling Lissie Humpty Dumpty). I remembered the story, thought it had some cool themes I could relate to her story, and started researching the story thoroughly. All the puzzle pieces started falling into place (lost my shit when 8 chess squares meant promotion to queen and realizing this next match was her 8th match, not including Havoc) and just started rolling from there. I pushed the deadline for last weeks, but I started on this one immediately afterwards. Got it done on Tuesday, which is rare for me, but I just didn’t wanna stop writing.

It takes me for fucking ever lol. I am easily distracted and have to think over little details.
The biggest thing though is to not just sit down and start writing. I always will sit and pull up a seperate doc just to outline my plan from scene to scene. Then I write. It varies how much I write when though.

Yeah I finally started doing the outline thing a few weeks back. Thanks to whomever suggested it originally (probably was Jordan) because it really does help keep your thoughts organized.

I used to research opponents, look at current events, come up with a base plot and story. I guess I still do that but it's streamlined.
Used to take me 3 days to do and 2 or 3 to write
Match writing takes me a hour. My matches are all the same. The exact same. Every time.

I've written every single cruiserweight RP in about 20 minutes.
When the shit gets lengthier than that it takes me literal years. Let's go.
