The scene opens with a bird’s eye view of a star filled night sky. A small amount of light can be seen radiated off of the small speckles filling the night’s sky. Slowly the camera scales down towards the ground to show the sight of a rundown neighborhood. A small flame can be seen in the middle of a small open area within the neighborhood. The camera begins to deflate down towards the small open square in the neighborhood and directly towards the flame.
As the camera nears the ground the view of two men sitting near the flames can be seen. The shadows of the men stretching away from the fire and away from their source of warmth. Beside the two men are two large backpacks filled to the brim with a bunch of covered items. As the camera finally reaches the fire, the flames can be seen coming from a metal trashcan. The two men sit there shivering from the night’s breeze attempting to stay warm from the heat emitting from the trash can’s flames.
Man #1: When is you connection going to be here with the goods?
Man #2: Abraham calm down, I am sure that it will get here soon. I have the itch for it just as much as you.
The two men look at each other with a look of disgust. Once they notice the gaze coming from each other they both put their disagreements away and begin to focus again on the burning pile of trash that sit in front of them.
Abraham: It is so damn cold out here, is there not a room we could stand under while waiting for this so called errand boy?
Man #2: This is the drop point and if he does not see anyone here he will not come. You know the police have been out patrolling all fucking night.
Abraham: It is still fucking cold sitting out in the middle of a fucking basketball court.
The two look around the buildings surrounding the basketball court waiting for their delivery to arrive. After a few moments Abraham stands up and begins to walk around the emitted flames from the fire, leaving the other man sitting there on the cold concrete.
Abraham: I don’t care how good this shit is. I am about to freeze in this fucking weather!
Man #2: Calm yourself Abe, it will all be worth it once we get those needles.
Abraham: Fuck you, Will! I can barely feel my god damn legs anymore!
Small sounds of echoing footsteps can be heard bouncing off of the surrounding buildings. The two men focus their attention towards the sounds of the steps attempting to find the direction in which the sounds are coming from. William then begins to stand on his feet slowly walking towards the right side of the fire. Abraham then does the same approaching the fire once again and turns towards the same direction in which William is facing.
Out from the shadows of the surrounding buildings comes a small kid with a small bag in his hand. The small child approaches the two men slowly but the two men decide to hastily meet the boy in between them.
Abraham: Just give me the shit! I need to warm up my fucking balls!
The kid stops in his tracks at the approaching men. The two men then halt at the fear of not getting their product from the young teenager. Abraham grows a large shocked look on his face at the sight of the young teenager delivering the paper bag that is gripped between his fingers.
Abraham: Wait a minute, I fucking know you! Your one of those Deruty boys! Your older brother is Donny! I heard that kid may even go Division 1 after high school!
William: God fucking damn it Abraham! We are not supposed to say anything to the kid! You fucked us man!
The child then slowly backs away from the two men, his hands beginning to grip the paper bag even tighter than previously. The young teen then widens his stance and prepares to run from the two individuals in front of him. William takes notice of the young boy beginning to grow uncomfortable and attempts to find a solution to the problem.
William: Woah there big boy. It’s alright, we have no idea who the fuck you are. We have been sitting out here in the cold for so long that our vision is being affected right Abe?
Abraham: Yeah totally! Who the fuck are you even? Whoever you are then you have a kick ass job and can we please just have that brown paper bag in your hand there?
The kid slowly continues to walk away from the two men. A disappointed look crawls upon the face of William as Abraham slowly begins to grow a devilish smirk upon his face.
Abraham: Alright then if you really wanna run off. Go ahead kid, run back to daddy and tell him that we expect a full ref…
Abraham then begins to spring towards the child. He catches the kid off guard and is able to gain a few feet on the child before he is able to turn and begin running. William then follows Abraham running after the kid also.
The two men continue to pursue the Deruty boy out of the basketball court as well as down the street towards the nearest road. They are so desperate to get whatever is inside of the brown bag that they are fine with running down the street after the boy under street lights. The kid continues to run down the street as fast as he can in silence. Nothing but the sounds of his and his pursuer’s shoes hitting the concrete sidewalks can be heard throughout the dark neighborhood. The young boy continues to grip the brown paper bag with all his might in fear of being captured by his two pursuers.
After a few moments the boys grip becomes too strong and the lack of strength of the paper bag becomes an issue for the boy as the bag begins to rip and the contents of the bag fly forward in front of the young teen. The two men notice the rip and can see a small reflection coming from the contents but the full outline of the items cannot be deciphered. Once the bag rips the Deruty boy decides to continue to run down the street as the sound of police sirens can be heard coming from a distance. The two men stop at the dropped contents of the bag but are quickly pursued by the sounds of the sirens and the brightness of the flashing red and blue lights. Police officers immediately begin pursuing the two men as one finally police car passes the men and drive up towards the young boy. The teen continues to run down the street now being in pursuit of the police vehicle. The red and blue lights begin to light up the buildings around him with the sounds of the sirens growing louder and louder before the scene goes completely black.
The scene opens up with a bird’s eye view of the Staples Arena. There is a line towards the ticket booth with people out buying tickets for the upcoming event of Revolution for Action Wrestling. Slowly the camera passes the public and heads toward the main entrance of the home of the Los Angeles Lakers. It continues to pass through the second glass door entrance and is welcomed by the open hallways of the ovular arena.
Slowly the camera approaches the next doors leading down to the center area of the ring. It approaches a small black window where nothing can be heard but the steps of the camera can continue to be heard through the boom of the camera set up. Once the darkness disappears from the camera view the ring with a big logo of Action Wrestling can be seen on the side of the set up ring. There are workers all around the ring setting up audio and other aspects of the upcoming event. Although there are tens of individuals working on the event there is only one lonely man standing in the ring with his forearms bracing his body upon the ropes.
The man is dressed in a dark brown pair of khakis and a dark grey shirt with a black leather jacket draped upon his shoulders. The man stares on towards the construction of the entrance stage and ramp while the camera approaches him slowly from the bottom left turnbuckle. Once the camera crosses the man’s line of vision he notices the camera and then greets the cameraman at the stairs. The man seen in the shot is none other than Donald Deruty. He closes his eyes and slowly takes a breath before opening his eyes and focuses on the camera lens shot in his direction.
“Look around you at all the work that has been put into this huge major event! Revolution is the first ever Pay Per View of Action Wrestling and there have been hundreds of people that have taken a part in constructing this huge event. Whether it is men that are in the audio and technical department getting the speakers ready, the graphic artists creating content to market the event, or even the wrestlers that enter this ring week in and week out working hard to perfect their craft and eventually be called one of the greatest that the game has ever seen. All the hard work and hours that these individuals put in is just a small reminder of how strenuous this business can be and first off I wanna say thank you to everyone that has help take this amazing organization from its stages of construction to now its stages of glory. We are all in the same department when it comes to the success of this company.”
A smirk crawls from Donald’s face before he continues.
“All of these men work for one goal, and that is to have a great and amazing show but they are all different once they leave this arena. Their goals change, their lives change, and even their mentality changes.”
Donald’s smirk immediately turns into a serious stare into the camera.
“We all are in different stages of our life. Some of us are still in the early stages, freshly out of high school or college looking for a big break. Others of us are looking to create families and to return home to our loved ones. Others are even in the later stages in their life and are looking forward to retirement and the relaxation and enjoyment that they will feel to finally be done with their jobs and to constantly live their lives in harmony. Some of us are unfortunately still in the stages of living life like there is no one even alive in the universe. They go about their everyday lives living like their actions have no circumstances and will never affect anyone else’s life negatively.
People have always had this small time in their life that they eventually go through and grow out of. Some people go living life not regretting a single thing in their life and feel that they have never done anything wrong in their life. These individuals deep down think about the things that they have done and attempt to find a reason for them to make the choices that they have. They choose to not let the effects of their actions influence their future choices and will continue to ignore other’s thoughts and beliefs of them.
My brother Jack had this constant personality that he could never do any wrong and that his actions or even words could not affect anyone else within his vicinity. He would constantly speak his voice and would not censor himself to the people surrounding him. It was important that he would speak his opinion and let other people know what he thought but Jack would completely ignore other people issues and problems whether or not they would be offended by his words or actions. Although on the outside Jack would constantly seem like a confident person on the outside, on the inside I knew about his true inner demons. Jack was always thought of himself as the black sheep of the family. He never thought that he belonged under the same roof as other members of my family and once he reached a certain point in growing up he decided to conjure up a plan to get out and finally go out on his own where he would not be judged based off of his last name.”
Donald reaches inside of his leather jacket once again and pulls out a brown paper bag. He then places it in the middle of the mat and once again pays his attention towards the camera.
“When Jack entered into his sophomore year of high school he decided that he would get enough money until he would have enough to finally move out of our house and create his own life for himself. His solution for this lack of money was getting involved in the drug dealing business. He was always small for his age and looked younger than he actually was so he was given the job of dealing the drugs at the different waypoints that buyers were told to meet at.
His young appearance would trick the police in thinking that he would be a dealer because it would look like he was only a kid coming home from school during the day or they would think he would be too young to ever be involved in such a business. It was because of this advantage that Jack became their new number one dealer and that a majority of their products would be distributed by him. This was great for Jack because he would get cuts each time he would distribute a product to a customer. During this time Jack thought that it was his growing up stage of his life but he was wrong one night that everything went horribly wrong. The clients did not follow the directions completely and it created a situation in which he was worried would end in either an arrest or him being potentially killed for the amount of product that he had with him. It was at that moment that he knew that he had to get out of the business and he decided to do just that. He received a lot of friction from his supplier and he only saw one way out of it and that was the military.
My brother was forced to grow up once he joined the military and he hated every second of it. He went from being a boy with not a single care in the world. He didn’t care what anyone else thought of him or even what his own family thought of him. Jack was Jack and he was never going to let anyone change him and force him to change his opinions or even views on things. He continued to work hard for the life that he wanted and never let anything cripple him to the point that he would never be able to achieve his overall life goals. This is an important aspect that people need to have to be able to reach those goals that there is one person in this company that I believe it shines on more than anyone else I have ever seen. That person is my opponent Roy Speede.”
Donald’s serious face then turns into a smirk.
“Roy we have a long, and I mean long history with each other. We have known each other even from our early Wrestling Championship Federation days and now we find ourselves facing off with each other for none other than a World Championship. This is one thing that we both promised we would achieve early on in our careers but unfortunately only one reached this achievement throughout our nearly decade long combined time in a professional wrestling ring. You were always seen as a little kid in the early World Championship Federation days and not a lot of people took you as a serious threat, and you would go on to defeat those people. They would laugh in your face before the match and would not properly prepare themselves for what you bring to the table in the four sided circle and you would ultimately end up with the final laugh. Well I am here to tell you Roy that I am not going to be one of those people that underestimate your abilities and let you get the upper hand. I have known you for years and that has me prepared for anything and everything you can throw at me because if there is anyone that knows you best in this company that man is none other than myself.
You see Roy you have always been seen as a child in the professional wrestling industry and this is your chance to be able to be seen as a true adult. This is your time to grow up and take what you want Roy, but unfortunately for you there is one obstacle in your way. There is one person that will be in between you and that gold and leather. You see Roy, I enjoy your company and I look at you as a major ally when it comes to professional wrestling world, and even a friend outside of competition, but this week you are the only one that is left for me to claim the highest price in a wrestling promotion. I have defeated people that have had massive amounts of success in other companies such as Eavan Maloney. I have also defeated people that have looked to build not only their resume here in Action Wrestling but also in other federations in the form of Dionysus. Also I defeated a competitor that is known around the world not only as a professional wrestler but also has run a successful company himself in Spencer Adams. Now there is only you left staring back at me when we talk about the Action Wrestling World Championship, and that is you Roy.
I have leaped over so many obstacles in my life and now I have one final one labeled none other than your name. Roy I know you are here to achieve greatness and to be able to gain respect in the world of Action Wrestling, and I am your biggest supporter, but this week is not the week for you to reach that platform. We have gone through the gauntlet and now there are only two people remaining, we should both be proud of how far we have gone, but now it is time to name the first face of the company. It is time to name who the first person will be to have that World Championship strapped around their waist. I did not come back into this business just for shits and giggles but also because I wanted the thrill of being on top once again and also what that title means to the person that has it sitting on their shoulder. I am back to prove that I was not just a great United States Champion, I am here to prove that I did not just get lucky my first time around, I am most importantly here to eliminate my status as an underdog.”
Donald gets closer to the camera and his smirk immediately drops into a serious stare. He readjusts his leather jacket before once again speaking towards the camera.
“I have made mistakes in my life Roy. I am not perfect but I know in able to win this week I will have to be perfect and that is exactly what I plan to be. Perfect is the standard that we will be setting for everyone coming into Action Wrestling. We are both undefeated and have defeated none other than the best that Action Wrestling has to offer and this week we will decide who sets the bar of perfection. This week Roy I will come out of Revolution not only the Action Wrestling World Champion but also will no longer be known as the underdog. After our match tomorrow night I will be known as the TOP DOG…
Roy, everyone has a time that we need to grow up and reach that next place in life, but unfortunately Roy tomorrow night is not that time. Your time will come Speede, but tomorrow night I will come out on top and will do anything that I can to feel that gold sitting upon my shoulder once again!”
The scene goes black with the final sight being Donald walking out of the shot back towards the steel steps.
It then goes black.
The scene opens back up with the faint sight of red and blue flashing lights and slowly the sound of sirens appear once again in the shot. The camera appears once again directed towards the police cars now sitting on the side of the street. Slowly the camera walks past the cars turning and peeking into the backseat of the cars to reveal William and Abraham. In the final car is the young teenager also handcuffed and placed in the back of the car.
Police Officer #1: Well I guess I will go book this kid.
Police Officer #2: What did you say his name was again?
Police Officer #1: Deruty? A Donald Deruty?
The scene then goes black.
As the camera nears the ground the view of two men sitting near the flames can be seen. The shadows of the men stretching away from the fire and away from their source of warmth.
