We cut to a scene, which as we fade in at first is very difficult on the eyes. A room is shown with black and white spirals painted upon the walls, making it look as though the walls themselves are spinning.
As we pan around the room, we come to a man, sitting on a case. He's dressed all in black, with a large top hat, and an ostentatious feather collar the most prominent features. His appearance is quite sinister, though the smile on his face perhaps draws question to this image. He spreads his arms wide open, and confidence exudes from his voice as he begins to speak.
The Jackdaw: Ladies, gentlemen, children of all ages. I am The Jackdaw, and it is a pleasure today for me to be here for your entertainment.
In one fluid motion he slides off of the case, on to his feet, and bows towards us.
The Jackdaw: And of course here in Action Wrestling, entertainment is what it's all about! You want a show, and tonight many wrestlers have come and gone, offering you action, excitement, blood, sweat and even tears.
The Jackdaw smirks to himself.
The Jackdaw: But I'm here to give you something special. Step right up for the greatest show on earth, a shock to the eyes and the mind, as you see the death-defying, sight belying, mentally mystifying display that I bring to you.
The camera begins to spin counter to the spinning walls, as The Jackdaw steps closer to the camera, his face taking up most of the frame.
The Jackdaw: I am the Jackdaw, and like my namesake, I collect that which is valuable. And tonight I share my greatest treasure with you.
There is an explosion of feathers, momentarily obscuring the image. As they fall to the ground, only the spinning walls, and the case is seen. Laughter is heard, and The Jackdaw's voice from off screen.
The Jackdaw: Carnica, awaken!
After a moment, the front of the case slowly swings open, and inside, folded in a way that the human body is not meant to be capable of, is the figure of a young woman. At first, she falls out of the case, on to the floor, her face towards the camera, eyes closed, laying completely still. Perhaps looking more like a doll than a real person, her face is painted, white with an elaborate pattern, her hair an explosion of colour, and her outfit the same. Most oddly, hanging from her limbs are strings, attached to multiple pieces of wood.
More laughter is heard, and a little impatience as The Jackdaw speaks again..
The Jackdaw: My little marionette, don't keep the people waiting now!
After a few more moments pause, Carnica's eyes open. She smiles wildly at the camera, then leaps to her feet, her motion fluid and elegant.
Carnica: Just having a little fun at their expense. Hello world!
Carnica places her hands upon the sides of the camera, staring down the lens and laughing. Her voice is deeper than you'd imagine, but with a playful cadence, directly addressing the audience.
Carnica: You'll have to wait a little longer I'm afraid! It's cramped in that case, and I have to stretch a bit.
Carnica leaps backwards, shaking the camera as she pushes against it a moment before release. She lands on the case behind her, balancing perfectly, takes a moment, then leaps again, out of shot.
The Jackdaw: Hah, now you're just showing off!
The camera quickly follows upwards, where we see Carnica now, hanging from the ceiling. The ropes attached to her arms serving a purpose, wedging in to eyelets set in to the ceiling, as she dangles from them. Far however from looking uncomfortable as most would, she hangs as though it's the most normal thing in the world, and begins to move and stretch her legs, bending so far that her feet almost touch her shoulders.
Carnica: Well that's what I'm here to do, show off to the world what I'm capable of. Because they've certainly seen nothing like me before, no woman or man has ever entered the ring able to do what I can do.
The Jackdaw: That's certainly true, you're one of a kind Miss Zefare.
Carnica: And yet, they put me up against...
Carnica pauses, her expression uncertain.
Carnica: Who was it again?
The Jackdaw: His name is Lincoln Kuechly, an inelegant egotist indeed.
Carnica: Exactly, some dime a dozen wrestler with a big ego, making up for his little...
The Jackdaw interrupts.
The Jackdaw: Easy there Carnica, there will be plenty of time for trash talking once you beat the guy. You're still new to this stage.
Carnica: And yet I'm not just talking trash, I'm... what do they call it, cutting a promo?
There's a moments pause, then laughter from The Jackdaw.
The Jackdaw: Well if that's what you're going with, consider the world your stage. Though you should be careful insulting any guy's pride, let alone one you're competing against in your début match, taking about his little...
There's another pause.
Carnica: … in ring ability.
Carnica helpfully fills in the end of her sentence, with a smirk.
The Jackdaw: Ah.
The Jackdaw laughs.
The Jackdaw: Well then have at it, let the world know what you're all about.
Carnica brings her attention back to the camera, staring again down the lens. Her body looks painfully twisted, as she continues to stretch, but she talks without a hint of hesitation.
Carnica: What I'm all about? First of all, I am an entertainer. This may be my first time professionally in the ring, but I've entertained crowds many times larger in my life. I do what no-one else can, I've spent my life defying expectations, shocking, surprising and delighting all those who come to see me.
Carnica pauses, her amused expression fading to a more serious one. She takes a moment to free herself from the ropes, dropping to the floor, the camera following her.
Carnica: That doesn't mean I'm just for show though. I know this will be tough, but the truth is, I've never found a fight I could not win, a challenge I could not overcome, or a limit I couldn't break.
Carnica smirks.
Carnica: I've trained with the best, and overcome most of them. You can't fight what you can't catch after all, and you certainly can't counter what you can't comprehend. People look at me, underestimate me, they see the show, the performer, the entertainer. They let their ego get the best of them.
Carnica pauses again.
Carnica: Then they get mesmerized by the sight before them, it hypnotises them...
The image of Carnica blurs on the screen, as the cameras focus again is on the walls, the spirals spinning.
Carnica: Lulls them in to a false sense of security...
Carnica suddenly spins, a flying kick brushing extremely closely to the lens of the camera. The camera refocuses on Carnica, who stands on one leg, the other still raised in the air, standing steady.
Carnica: And then strikes them down.
Carnica smiles, then as her leg drops back to the ground, her smile also drops from her face again, her expression serious.
Carnica: But the funniest part is that, Lincoln, you wont hear a word of it. You're drowning in your own sense of grandiose, the torrential downpour of words spewing from your mouth only submerging you further. You wont take this as a warning not to take me lightly, but when the time for talk is over, I'll be the one spotlit and center stage.
Carnica smiles again.
Carnica: Because this is Action Wrestling, and my actions will speak far louder than your words ever could.
The camera focuses on Carnica for a moment, before fading in to the spiraling image behind her, then finally cutting to black.
