Well, this is certainly an interesting situation I’ve found myself in. I just signed my Action Wrestling contract last week to little acclaim. I know that I’m not a popular guy, I have a small social media following and I’m not exactly overly charismatic like some of the others. I did my tour of duty in a few federations and they were great, but sadly, I was not. I wasn’t good at what I did and needed a break. So after taking a break, I found that there wasn’t a single place that wanted me. I had to beg for part time gigs. That’s why I chose Action Wrestling. I knew that I needed to make my name somewhere and every single person that I spoke with told me that they were the place I wanted to be. All it took was a lot of begging and the chance to wrestle at a substantial pay cut. They’re giving me a chance to redeem myself and become a great wrestler. That’s why I’ll never forget their generosity.
I consider myself very lucky to have been offered a contract by the owners. I’m downright positive that they have turned away far more talented people. I’ve seen plenty of wrestlers online talk about their big contracts and how they’re “slumming it” in the federation they’re currently employed in. Big fish, little pond I suppose. But not me. I’m just happy to be here. I’ve already made some contacts in the locker room, and I’ve definitely buddied up with some of the staff. The referees get a lot of hell for their officiating, but they’re pretty decent guys once you get to know them.
But I digress. Instead of all that, let me talk about how things are starting to look up for me. I have a pay check in my bank, a new attitude and outlook on my career, and most of all, I have a match next week. I’m just as surprised as some of you are. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that I was booked into a match right off the bat. To back it up, I’ll be facing off against a former Action Wrestling Television Champion and UCI Champion. I can already see the bookies in Las Vegas placing those long odd bets on me, since I am coming off a one year absence from the sport. There is no doubt that I am the underdog in this match and that Anton Chase could very well have a cake walk for himself. It will make for one easy pay check if he pulls off a win.
But let’s be honest here, he has far more to lose than I do. If I come in and lose my first match out, I could easily be written off as an untalented hack or loser. Big deal, I’ve been called that my entire life. That doesn’t bother me at all. It just means that I would have to try even harder to win my next one and the one after that and so on. But if Anton lost against me, could you imagine the heckling and mocking that he would get when he walked to the back? There goes a former two time champion who was just taken out to the wood shed by a green nobody with a mohawk.
Yeah, I can see how that would go over with him and the rest of his buddies. They would have a good laugh at his expense, but for me? Hell, people would see me in a completely different light. There wouldn’t be any of this garbage about me having to earn my spot or something like that. I want to win this match and keep on moving forward. I want the 201 Championship, I want the United States Championship, I want the Television Championship, the UCI Championship, the Tag Team Championship, and most importantly, the World Heavyweight Championship.
You know, I’m sure that Anton Chase also had similar plans when he joined Action Wrestling. Shoot, what can I say? I have to give the man credit, he has actually achieved a few of his plans. He’s won two championships so far in AW and I can imagine that those are just two among the many that are ready for him this year. The issue right now though is that he is standing in my way. Anton is going to be either one more rung up the ladder of success for me, or he could very well be a stumbling block that will stop me from even placing one single foot on it. I just can’t allow that to happen, Anton. I hope you can understand that none of this is personal, hell, I don’t even know you buddy. This is all business and the only way you can become successful in business is by doing your very best for yourself. You get it, right Anton?. I’m sure you do.
Now, like some of you out there, I have goals that I have set for myself. They can also be viewed as a New Year’s Revolution. It’s February already and I’m a month behind on my goals, but like some who start a resolution and give it up the same day, that isn’t what I’m all about. My resolution is to become the 201 Champion first, and then move towards that Television title and so on. This year, 2019, will be a spicy year for me. Wasabi will be the hottest new talent to hit Action Wrestling and I will become someone that none of you will neglect. I don’t want to be another one of those flash in the pan type of guys who shows up hot as hell and then that flame fizzles out and I’m off to another place. There are no other places for me. It’s Action Wrestling or a life of regret.
I want to make AW the House of Wasabi. I want to be a career player here. I want to work my way up from the bottom, fighting and defending the 201 Championship at every single show. I want to be the kind of guy who can be counted on to step up and fill in when another guy has a plane delay and can’t make his match. I want to be a franchise player here and have my name mentioned along side some of the other greats here. I will be those things. I won’t be stopped. It is going to happen and I will work hard to make sure that every single one of the men and women in the back know it, the folks in upper management know, and the fans who tune in every single week know it as well.
So in my final words to Anton Chase, let me just say this. I wish you the very best of luck. You are one hell of a talented guy and I’m very impressed with not only your championship wins here but also your talent and charisma. I almost want to pattern myself after you. I really can’t wait to see where you go this year, I have no doubt that you are going to be a massive star here. But you and I are headed for a collision this coming week and there is no way that I will let you derail my momentum. I’m riding a high like no other and I won’t let you kill my buzz by beating me in the ring.
Bring every single thing you have. Bring it all, Anton. I will do the exact same thing. Let’s slug it out in the ring and make our match the match of the night. Let’s make everyone else talk about how we tore the house down on TV. Let’s make those dirt sheets on the internet write about how we were the best thing on television all week. Let’s leave them wanting more. But more importantly, let’s fight to a finish. I know you won’t take anything other than a win. I also won’t take any result other than a win. So let’s go out there and brawl. May the best man win, who coincidentally, is myself.
