Pumping iron in a dingy gym near MSG. Papa Giacomo is spotting me. Mama's on an exercise bike. A couple of meatheads in the corner ogle her. While she'd be pleased of a reminder that she still "got it", I'm trying not to put this barbell through their skulls. Thankfully Papa remains oblivious.
Papa: Nullify Monster on the mat, chain wrestling, si? Keep her out the ring where possible. Stay away from strikes.
Quixote: That's the plan. I'll keep her outside and do the real damage on Wilds.
Mama stops cycling and turns with an expression of disdain. The meatheads pretend they weren't perving.
Mama: This isn't going to work. You NEED to go full throttle on Ms. Monster. Otherwise she'll beat you again.
Quixote: Ma, we've discussed this. I'm not going in hard on her. That's why I let Wilds double-pin Cage with me. I need him in this match so I can keep Monster quiet then go all killer instinct on Wilds.
Mama: Didn't work so well last time.
Papa: Penny darling, we aren't encouraging our son to harm a lady. No way.
Mama: Monster's no lady. She has no class, manners, grace, elegance, no dignity. She's a terrible, offensive example to young girls. She chose to get in the ring and mix with the men. You gotta treat her like one.
Quixote: I get your concern, Ma, but I'm confident enough in my ability to beat Monster without resorting to senseless violence. My mistake last time wasn't underestimating or going easy on Monster. It was OVERestimating Jaice. I left him alone with Monster for a moment and he folded. He's not the same man I beat at Turmoil. I'm afraid I crushed his spirit that night. The distraction of this masked attacker drama is only masquerading the Xtreme Aerialist's spectacular fall from grace.
Mama: That may be so but Wilds' advantage over you is that he won't hesitate in slaying the Monster... if he can, that is.
Papa: I can't believe you're condoning this. See you back at the hotel.
He storms off to the changing rooms, towel in hand.
Quixote: Jaice knows he's not on his game. He's been on the periphery of world class for a decade. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride... no shame in that. He's the gatekeeper to the upper tier; many stars have been born with his back to the mat. But since he helped make me a star, his own finally faded. He might go all guns blazing on Monster but it won't be enough for him to regain the 201 Title because I won't let him out my sight for a second.
JP Blackstone will try to distract me but I have no qualms about caving in his cranium, unlike his client. Monster is vicious and cunning. She'll desperately provoke me to be someone I'm not and let my morals fall by the wayside but I'm stronger minded than her. I'll keep it clean and technical and I WILL defeat her on my terms.
Mama: Qui, you need to know why Papa's so adamant about not hitting a woman. There's more to it than you think...
Quixote: Like what?
Mama: … He... hit... me.
Quixote: PAPA HIT YOU?!
Mama: Once... years ago. We got heated. I crossed a line, I was a complete bitch. He'd had a couple of drinks and it just... happened. He's not laid a finger on me since.
Quixote: I can't believe this! Fucking hypocrite!
Mama: He was so ashamed. He's apologised every day since. Qui, your Papa is the greatest man I've ever met and he's always provided for his family. That day was horrible but I learnt something important about him. He could stand his ground.
Quixote: By punching you?
Mama: Sorry but yeah. Honestly, I needed the wake up call. I learnt that Papa could do what was necessary to defend what was right. That's what the world needs to know from you. Can you go to the next level and do what needs to be done? Or will you let Ms. Monster get in your way? Will your legacy be GREATNESS... or childish mercy?
I'm disgusted... least, I think I am...
