Household Dungeon
2:00 pm
Since Chris is busy as a factory worker, he has a tight schedule to train. So his training at Household Dungeon is limited. However, he has a free day from his job. So he can spend that day training for the upcoming match. Here at the center of the ring, Chris is looking straight on the rope.
VIENTO FUERTE: “Do a suicide dive now!”
Chris then lunges himself to build momentum. He slips through the middle the rope and hits the dummy outside the ring.
VIENTO FUERTE: “Good. Now, Tope con Giro!”
Chris then slides back in the ring. He lunges back to the ropes and steps the middle rope carefully. He bounces and performs a dive roll onto the dummy. He finally executes a rope maneuver.
VIENTO FUERTE: “Well done, Chris! You have done well!”
Chris becomes proud of what he has done. However, he and the luchador are not the only ones. Coach Tino is also impressed as he joins them.
COACH TINO: “When did you teach him about that move?”
VIENTO FUERTE: “Before his previous match at Action Wrestling. We worked all day to pull that trick.”
COACH TINO: “Well this is good. You have submission, strikes and aerial maneuvers in your arsenal. You’ll be prepared for the upcoming tournament in GOL and a match in Action Wrestling in no time.”

A Factory Somewhere in Utah
3:30 pm
Workers toil with their assigned task. Some worked along with the conveyor belt, some in operations. Others in the deliveries; and this is where Chris and Douglas assigned. Both were assigned to move the packaged boxes to the storage. However, this doesn’t stop them from talking to each other. At one time, Douglas carries two or three packages without a sweat. But Chris carries only two and he struggles to get it to the storage.
DOUGLAS: “Come on, Chris. Keep it up the pace.”
CHRIS: “Why do I have to carry two packages at once?”
Finally, they reach the pile of boxes to place. They take a quick rest after.
DOUGLAS: “You need that to increase your strength.”
Actually, for Chris, he does have a point. He decides to not mope about it.
DOUGLAS: “Especially you’re going to face Apex Onyx.”
CHRIS: “Apex Onyx? Is he somewhat related to Black Onyx?”
DOUGLAS: “Nice one but no…”
CHRIS: “Oh.”
SUPERVISOR: “Hey, you two! I’m not paying you to have a chit-chat, get back to work!”
Caught by their supervisor, they decide to get their job done. With their strength, they lift and carry up another two packages per each of them. Chris begins to take interest on his upcoming opponent.
CHRIS: “Hey, Doug. Any information about him?”
DOUGLAS: “Apex Onyx? Boy, you’re not going to like it. For starters, he did manage to beat Rose and Bishop in a triple threat match. Then he put Lester Parrish next to his loser’s list. But he had a loss at Turmoil against Evander Cage and Kennedy Matthews.”
Chris seems to handle the information he has received very well until…
DOUGLAS: “But he’s not like your Kendra Watterson or Dark Tiger. He has a good resume for a wrestling champion. He will destroy you for sure if you’re not ready. Also, he has a natural charisma and a good trash-talker. So if he sees that you have some gigantic mess or even not on his level, he will berate you for sure.”
That hits Chris in the core of his pride for sure. Not only is he going to get thrashed but also get humiliated by his opponent inside and outside of the ring. This begins to terrify Chris but Douglas didn’t notice.
DOUGLAS: “You better keep carrying up that package to the storage or it will cause your paycheck.”
The rest of his day, Chris keeps his silence. He is like facing a death sentence except that his life was not involved but mostly his pride. This would bring shame not only to him but to his wife.

7:30 pm
Chris sits on a light brown ordinary couch. He goes into trance staring at the wall of their living room. It is probably because of his match against Apex Onyx. His cocky attitude is so intimidating that his insecurities start to show off. With that, his optimism begins to fade. And his negative thinking starts to cloud his thinking.
SAKUYA: “Dear, you alright?”
All of this things on his head is now on hold, thanks to a voice from his kind-hearted wife, Sakuya. He glimpses at her hazel eyes. Her voice and her face satisfy his heart. But he doesn’t want to reveal his problem to her because it will ruin his role as an ideal husband. He wants to show that he is a great breadwinner for her.
CHRIS: “Nothing honey.”
SAKUYA: “Really? Then what’s with that face?”
He remembers the same approach to her. It brings a smile to his face, feeling outwitted by his past actions.
CHRIS: “Nah, it’s good. I’m fine.”
SAKUYA: “Oh?”
She sits next to him and begins to stare at him. Chris raises his eyebrow knowing what she’s up to. Then suddenly, she points her finger into his brown eyes. She rotates it trying to mesmerize him.
SAKUYA: “Look into my eyes, you’re going to tell me. You’re going to tell me…..”
Chris’ smile becomes wider as he shakes his head. He finds it is really cute and adorable. Though ineffective, it really works. Not because of her "mesmerism" but her charm. He can’t contain himself. So he spills the beans.
CHRIS: “Okay. Okay. I’ll talk.”
He begins with sighs and his smile fades. He thinks this would wane her faith towards him.
CHRIS: “I’m up against Apex Onyx on a singles match.”
SAKUYA: “And?”
CHRIS: “I was afraid. He’s intimidating, strong, and charismatic. I don’t know if I could beat him.”
SAKUYA: “I get it. He intimidates people, his strength gave him victories and has natural charisma. But how does it affect what you show in the ring? Didn’t the triple threat match gave you courage and confidence in this ring?”
CHRIS: “I know, but it’s different. True that I won. But it was because Dark Tiger took Cage out. Otherwise, the outcome would be different. And true it gave me confidence. But it’s not enough.”
Sakuya begins to understand what he’s getting at. As he reveals more of his insecurities, his expression grows cold.
CHRIS: “Maybe Cage has a point. I can’t be like him… either anyone else in Action Wrestling, especially, Apex Onyx.”
SAKUYA: “You don’t have to be like him or anyone else. You have your own style and your own skills. Didn’t your previous match tell you that you can win that on your own?”
He begins to think that she has a point.
SAKUYA: “What's really bothers you? Are you afraid that his words would demoralize you?”
He is surprised. He doesn’t want to admit that she is right.
SAKUYA: “Jana Rikar called you as ‘one who fails at every aerial move he does’. Generic Heel thought of you as ‘one of those “I USED TO BE A HARDCORE MONSTER AND AM GONNA BURN THE ENTIRE FED DOWN FEAR ME RAAAAAOOOOOORRRRR” guys.’ Yet you seem to handle it very well. As a matter of fact, you laugh at what Generic Heel just commented on you.”
Sakuya is right. He did manage to commend him at Twitter for his idle banter.
CHRIS: “I remember that.”
SAKUYA: “Think of their words. Some may just empty words. But some were just a critique towards you. No critique can give you praise. It will surely break your pride. On the brighter side, it addresses your mistake. Take one, for instance, Frankie Harewood said that ‘you nearly injured yourself trying to perform a simple top rope move’. Yet you were at the Household Dungeon. You went to all lot of training in a hopes to perform a simple top rope move. Everybody needs to improve even champions in Action Wrestling.”
Somehow he heard of this piece of advice somewhere.
SAKUYA: “Your pride as a wrestler can be broken. But it can be rebuilt. But would you rather focus more on it, rather than just work on improvement? Onyx-san said that there’s always room for improvement.”
Sakuya then raises her one finger telling him to recall. She was right. He did receive that advice from the other “Onyx”, Black Onyx. It was after his loss on his first match. It was bittersweet for him. But his friends gave some encouragement. Good times for him.
CHRIS: “I guess I forget.”
Sakuya wraps his shoulders with her gentle arms. She does that to know that she’s supporting him no matter what.
SAKUYA: “Everybody forgets all the time. It’s good that I’m here to remind you that. Just remember that “The insight of a man slows down his anger, its beauty on his part to overlook an offense.”
CHRIS: “I guess I let my fear take over.”
SAKUYA: “I know you, Chris. You are a humble man. That’s why I love you very much. True that there are times that fear attempts to prevail over us. But humility gives courage. A courage to listen to what the person has to say and accepts it like a real man. A courage to show that he may be weak but he will soon to be strong. A courage to give one a strength to never give up.”
Chris raises his head as his bravado brightens up. Sakuya’s thoughtful words, Larry Gowan’s example, his friends, his experience. He thanked them all.
CHRIS: “Thank you, Sakuya.”
Chris then hugs her tenderly as they both share their sweet love towards each other. He knows that Apex Onyx will show no mercy to him, verbally and physically. But it will never stop him to continue his wrestling course.

9:30 pm
This is the time where people go to sleep even Sakuya. Chris in his night clothes enters the bathroom. He faces to the medicine cabinet where a mirror is placed on its door. He opens it and grabs a razor. He closes it to see his reflection. He opens the water faucet and moist his face with water. He begins to slide it across the side, front and neckline leaving only his mustache uncut.
He washes the razor removing the stripped hair from it. He reopens the door and puts the blade back on its place. He closes it once again to glance his shaved face as if he’s looking at a new man.

Apex Onyx. Throughout his career, he won two championships. I say, he has a quite of wrestling resume there. I mean, no wonder he joined QP (Quintessential Perfection) with Luke Force and Teddy Geisel. I watched some of his matches in Action Wrestling, and I say they're astounding. So much, that it intimidates me. Also for what it's worth, watching his promo really brings up of my inner fears.
Since 2013, I've been wrestled in various promotions around the world. For 3 years in the wrestling business, I thought I was a force to be reckoned with. I was the trump card of a faction. One would try to attack me with words should be taught a lesson. A lesson that they should think twice when they face me. Yet, I never knew that I was afraid all along. I let my ego clouded these fears, thinking that sheer strength would put an end to it. I was wrong. It made me overconfident. Little did I know that I've underestimated my opponent letting my guard down.
In the end, it turned out that I was a fool. For 3 years in the wrestling business, I've decided to quit. I thought that I’ve escaped my fears, but it didn't end. I've realized that I was afraid of my fragile ego. Maybe I've just covered my weakness, or maybe I just want to show everyone how great I am. But then my wife told me that everyone has their strengths and weakness, why do I try to hide it?
Maybe Apex is right. People like me are just a fan of wrestling who will never be anywhere 100%. Maybe I will always end up below the Apex. Maybe I'm just afraid of him like any wrestler or fan do. But that can't stop me from facing him. My previous match gave me hope that I can overcome him.
Apex Onyx, you may think that I'm unfit to be in this wrestling business. True that I've become rusty. Or maybe that I've tried to hurt myself by botching a top-rope maneuver. And I can't deny it. But one day, I will soar up to the skies with the same move that I've botched. True that I have some weakness to overcome, but it doesn't change the fact that you have one. And I can prove that to you in our match. Or maybe I'm just overconfident again. Sorry, can't help it.
On December 3, 2018, at Las Vegas, Nevada, it's time to test whether bravery and formidable drive will be enough to overcome the "Apex". The outcome would be uncertain. Regardless, I might learn a thing or two from facing you. Maybe I could recall how to win again. Either way, I will walk out with a smile. I don't know. See you at the match, Onyx.
