You’ve Got To Get Noticed
Shia takes a sip of his Michelob Ultra and smiles. “What? I can’t just take a seat here?”
Kemp rolls his eyes. “You never just take a seat. I’m not going to give you any comments tonight man. I’m not in the mood.”
“I’m not here in that capacity.”
“Then why are you sitting next to me.”
Shia takes a sip of his beer and smirks at Kemp’s lack of awareness. “Dude you and I are the only two in this bar right now. It’s fifteen minutes before closing and I thought I’d just come over and sit here since we’re coworkers. Can’t coworkers just enjoy a casual drink?”
“That’s something I’d say to one of the makeup artists to get in their pants. Please don’t try to get in my pants.”
“Real funny Kyle.”
“I wasn’t joking you idiot.”
Shia takes another sip and stares straight ahead, obviously a little upset by Kemp’s words. That is until he realizes that he knows how to get Kemp to talk to him. “So sad news about Stasiak.”
“Not really.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because he was a complete idiot when it comes to running a wrestling company and if it weren’t for the sheer talent on this roster we would have sunk months ago with his terrible decision making but you know that.”
“I do. He wasn’t one of my favorites but I have to say that at least he tried. However maybe you will get some more tv time.”
“More tv time? I don’t need more tv time. I need more quality opponents. I need a shot at a title. I need someone to recognize my fucking talent.”
“A shot at a title? But you’re one half of the Tag Team Champions.”
“Yep and we have been stuck in the same cycle of terrible opponents over the past couple of months.”
“Well what are you going to do about it?”
Kemp takes another sip and shrugs. “I don’t know what I can do about it. I’ve said multiple times that I want better competition and that I want a one on one title shot against any champion. Do you realize I haven’t had a one on one title shot since I signed here. How’s that possible? I’m the most talented member of this roster.”
“You keep saying that but you don’t keep proving it.”
Kemp looks over at Shia with fire in his eyes. “Watch it Shia.”
“Well it’s true man.” Shia takes a sip of his beer before continuing. “Just look at the show every week. You go out and win and that’s great but when do you take control? When do you shove it up everyone’s ass? I can’t remember the last time you went out there and made a statement that wasn’t just winning.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Come on Kemp. We both know that you have been relying on winning to get noticed. That’s not going to fly around here if you want to get to the top. You’ve got to make yourself known. You’ve got to get noticed by management. Hell that’s why you aren’t in the Wrestler of the Year tournament. Torture made all of those decisions besides the fan vote and you weren’t a top 7 seed and you didn’t win the fan vote.”
“I don’t care about winning the fan vote!”
“I know you don’t because you are a condescending asshole but come on man. There’s one guy that has to notice you and right now he’s not. That’s why you are directly in the midcard next week.” Shia takes a sip and looks at Kemp with a grin behnd his eyes. He knows Kemp is getting riled up and that bodes well for Shia. A more engaged Kemp means better interviews which means he gets noticed. If he gets noticed maybe he can go back to movies and leave this terrible job.
“What do you mean the midcard?”
“Have you not seen the card yet?”
“No. Who am I facing?”
Shia grins, knowing this is the killshot. “Well Karlie Nash of course!”
Kemp slams his hand down on the bar. “What!? Again?”
“Apparently Torture doesn’t think you’ve done enough to end your little rivalry.”
“Well Torture is oblivious then.”
Shia finishes his beer and stands up. “I guess you’ve got to show him that he is then. I’ll see you at Clash next week.”
Shia walks away and Kemp is left to finish his drink with the limited time left but he just sets the drink down and continues to think. Wondering what he has to do to get Torture to notice him.
Cheap
Another week and another match involving Kyle Kemp and Karlie Nash. Surprise surprise. Most would be excited at this opportunity because it would mean another week where I, Kyle Kemp, would get to pick up an easy victory on Clash. That’s most people. I am not most people. No...in fact I’m pretty sickened that this is what Action Wrestling management finds to be a suitable use of my talents. Is killing Karlie Nash really what you guys want to see? Because I don’t think it is. No what I think people want to see is me in the main event, fighting the best and being a champion on my own. What people want to see is me doing what I do best and that is proving that I am better than you.
Alas that is not what I get this week. No what I get is one final match with Karlie Nash. I say final Karlie because I’m going to end this once and for all. I can’t stand coming to the arena each and every Monday, knowing that I’m going to have to get into the ring with the likes of you. I have been dealing with you for so long that I’ve caught on to everything that’s wrong with you. The first being that you constantly complain. Do you see me complaining that your little team beat us last week? No. I’m not. I’m not going to make excuses but instead I’m going to reference the past year of dominance by #FightSmart. We have beaten up almost every person on this roster. We have won championships. Oh and I’ve had my hand raised over you at each of the last two pay per views. Which brings me back to the complaining. You have this veil of ignorance on where you think that you got screwed at the last two pay per views and I can’t help but laugh. Why do you really think that? Is it because the referees here are bumbling idiots? Maybe but take a closer look at each match Karlie. Do you really think that you and Nikki were close to winning? No. You weren’t. Do you think that the outcome would have been any different if the officiating was better? No. It wouldn’t. Are you using these mistakes as a way to stay relevant? Yes you are.
Now I don’t blame you for that Karlie but understand that you won’t have these same complaints to fall back on at Clash. I’m not coming hoping to just retain a Tag Team Title. I’m not coming to get a cheap victory so I can head to the back and party. I’m not even coming to end a supposed rivalry. This is about more than you. This is about the respect that I have earned and that I deserve. This is about showing the fans, the boys in the back and Action Wrestling management that they made a grave mistake about not giving me what I want. They are going to regret not putting me in the Wrestler of the Year Tournament. They are going to regret not giving me a one on one title shot. They are going to regret not pleasing their number one wrestler. They are going to regret it when I physically dissect and cripple an Olympian on national television.
It won’t be terribly sad for you Karlie. You’ll be eating out of a straw and you can hire some hot cougar personal caretaker to come in and wipe your ass for the rest of your pathetic life. Doesn’t that sound a little bit better for you? I guess not. I mean you won’t be able to touch her so I guess it’ll be worse than what you ever thought. You’ll just be able to look and not touch. Your life will be one constant reminder of one thing. How I was better than you. See you Sunday for the very last time.
