Character Name:
Michael Rocco
Nickname:
The Wrestling MacGyver, The Golden Standard, Mr. Classic
Hometown:
Manchester, England
Height:
5 ft 11 in
Weight:
202 lbs
Alignment: Heel
In-Ring Style:
Michael Rocco's style can be best described as "catch wrestling mixed with BJJ but 10 times flashier". Pinning holds and submissions are his bread and butter though he is a hard-hitter in terms of striking and other grappling moves as well. He barely, if ever, uses moves off the top rope, with the exception of his finisher. Occasionally, when his back is against the wall, he'd also resort to cheap shots and underhanded tactics like knocking out the referee, using him as a human shield, low blows, etc.
Bio:
A young man at the age of 21, Michael Rocco lived a rough life in his home in Manchester. He would be physically beaten by his father, bullied at school and never got the chance to be liked by anyone. He knew he had to rise up from his lowly life and so began secretly training under a local catch wrestling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu sensation, Andy Jones, at the age of 12. School night after school night, his mentor would contort his body in the most uncomfortable positions for him to escape out of but also help him with schoolwork and become the father figure he always wanted to be and Rocco never truly had. He looked up to Jones all his life and sought to make him proud of the man he had molded Rocco into. Rocco shone as a catch wrestler, scoring victory after victory in competitions, overcoming his bullies and even got his father to apologize to him.
However, Rocco sought to use his newfound gifts in more...malicious ways. After being bullied for years, now he was the top bully in the school. After being put through hell by his father, now he was exacting his revenge upon him each and every night. Then one night, Rocco received word that his mentor, Andy Jones, had died of a heart attack caused by the anguish of watching his student, the son he never had, devolved into this vile and cruel manipulator, bending those around him to his will both physically and mentally. Surprisingly, or rather disgustingly, this did not cause Rocco to mourn but rejoice. He had no one push him around and tell him what to do. He cast his heart in stone and continued his dastardly ways. On a fateful afternoon, he decided to run away from his family and live a life of freedom.
Then, he encountered the British pro wrestling scene at the age of 18. He was astounded by the spectacle and theatricality of it all. However, he never showed love to the more "aerial" side of wrestling. He never fancied Will Ospreay or Mark Andrews. He absolutely loathed it, calling it "a sad excuse of wrestling flippier than Stone Cold's middle finger." Neither did he gravitate towards the hardcore side of the industry led by men like Jimmy Havoc. Instead, he gravitated towards those like him. Talented and proficient in chain wrestling but downright psychotic and outright villainous. He immediately idolized men like Marty Scurll, Jim Breaks and Pete Dunne, their moves, their grace in the ring, their work on the mic, the sheer beauty of their body of work. He eventually found a school that was "good enough for him." He spent 2 years learning the ropes and perfecting his craft. At age 20, he debuted under his real name, Michael Rocco, an egotistical technician bent on breaking his opponents bit by bit and showing off how good his chain grappling is. Eventually, he found Action Wrestling and decided to take his mastery of pure wrestling to the promotion.
Attire:
Golden trunks with a black star on the seat and ROCCO in white text in front of it, white wrist tape and black wrestling boots up to the middle of his shin (with the rare brass knuckles tucked inside)
Theme song:
LEMMINO - Purification
Pic base:
In terms of his physique, Rocco is quite slim but well-defined.
Entrance: Darkness fills the arena until the opening riff of the song when a single spotlight shines on Rocco, hands behind his back and bowed down as he soaks in the crowd reaction. Come the chorus, cornerman Ricky Johnson appears behind him as Rocco slowly walks down to the ring, looking at the crowd with a malicious smirk on his face. He teases climbing to the turnbuckle to pose but chuckles as he doesn't and enters through the ropes. He stands in the middle of the ring in all his glory, arms outstretched to soak in the crowd's response to his presence.
