“It is all about the cardio, luv. Now dig deep and push through another lap!” Tessa stands in front of a sweat drenched Eden who is running on a treadmill. “You think a man like Muru is going to go into this match without readying his body and mind? It’s the same man who never took part in a Pure Cup match before and he made it to the finals, so I suggest you DIG DEEPER!”
Johnny pushes to the very end of the lap and the cool down period triggers on the treadmill. Eden shoots Tessa a ‘how’s that?’ look as he slows down to a walk on the treadmill. “You’re not wrong about Muru, but I’m learning about AW’s ‘big moments’ and I’ve seen the scrambling in the back as Evolution inches closer… This is a match on the largest stage in this industry and all eyes are going to be on the new TV champion and his FIRST title defense. Muru is in fact a warhorse taking beating after beating, only to continue on, but he has proven that when the largest spotlight is on him, he shrinks. He folds under the pressure of trying to live up to his past and he can’t strike while the iron is hot. There will be nothing bigger for him than fighting for a championship at Evolution and he knows it… So you ask me if Muru is going to go into this match without readying his body and mind, bruv? I tell you, he will ready himself to the best of his ability, but there’s no other way to say this, but I want this moment more. The fans want this moment more. The Television title division wants it more and this is going to be yet another Muru Moment wasted and sent to the back of his mind begging for him to hang it up once and for all. He may get his body ready to take a beating like he always does, but it is his mind that he has found crippled more times than not when it comes to pushing himself to the finish line.”
Tessa nods and kindly smirks. “I see what you did there with the finish line remark, but you and I both know that Muru will never give into the thought of calling it quits. He has the heart of a fighter, luv.”
“The heart of a fighter gets you only so far, Tess and you know it. Just because you have the drive to show up to the arena, doesn’t mean you have what it takes to get the job done. That has been Muru’s M.O. his entire Action Wrestling career so far and it isn’t going to change at my expense.”
“Okay then, but I think in this moment you need to really dig into being honest to Muru. You respect him for being the seasoned veteran that he is and it is through that mutual respect that he may really listen to you…. if he was here, what would you really tell him about his chances in this match at Evolution?” Tess points the camera toward Eden, making him the focal point.
“Muru, I’m going to speak some harsh words here, but I want you to know that I’m not meaning them as venomously as they’re going to be said, truthfully I know what you’re capable of in that ring. Be it tagging with you or witnessing it first hand as the special ref, I’ve seen you prove how much of a warhorse you are. But I don’t mean warhorse in a positive way this week, I honestly mean it the opposite. There comes a point where a scarred and battered horse on the battlefield has to know when it can’t go any longer. The horse can only take on so many warpaths before every painful step is a reminder of its younger days, where it knows what it THINKS it can do compared to what it can truly do. That’s where you are now and if your fumbling of a Word title opportunity wasn’t prevalent enough for you to come to that realization, I will stop at nothing to remind you of that fact at Evolution. You once said I had a bright future, but now that you’ve placed yourself in my path, I need you to know that my bright future will not be snuffed out by a past his prime delusional old man who’s surpassed his expiration date and is running on nothing but HOPE and wishful thinking, that you will find IT in the ring one day. Sadly for you, that day came to you early on in your career, long before you came to Action Wrestling for that ONE more run to find validation. Have you even taken the time to really look back at what you’ve accomplished from early on til now? I mean, really take a hard look, because if you stood in front of your younger self right now, I have no doubt you wouldn’t recognize yourself. You probably had a drive and a desire to be the best that would match my own, but you’re not that man any longer. You’ve gotten to the point where Action Wrestling won’t even negotiate a new contract with you, they’ll simply let it run out and send you off to bingo halls and the convention circuit where you can continue to milk your name and likeness until you’re officially six feet under…” Johnny looks intently into the camera. “I know those are hard words to swallow, but you’re not reviving your career at the cost of mine and I will continue to prove that I AM London’s Best Export and I am the best thing to happen to AW’s Television title division. I AM the workhorse it deserves and you’re going to be the first of many names added to those who couldn’t get the job done against me.”
“Well said, luv.”
