(Post note: I absolutely appreciate Ves stepping up (you truly have no idea how much I appreciate this) and tackling the Special Referee match with Johnny Eden officiating Lizzy vs Muru, I just felt like we were missing the feelings that Johnny would have in the match. I just wanted to give the fans Johnny’s thoughts during the match without the commentators. So no knock intended and please don’t take it as such. Just figured it’d allow Muru and me to use the match to build toward our Evo TV title match. This is a Paramount + Inside The Match special allowing voiceover work from Johnny Eden. Thank you.)
Johnny Eden: What was going through my mind out there? I made a promise to call the match down the middle and after watching the match back, I had to block out the abomination of the commentary, but I watched myself carefully knowing that this match was to determine who was going to challenge me in my first defense. I had fans reaching out after the match begging me to let them know what was my thoughts out there… So, figured, what the heck, let’s run it back just for that lot. Being the Television Champion, this is a flex that is in my wheelhouse for sure.
Johnny Eden: Without further adieu let’s play the match with MY thoughts on the forefront.
Win & You're In @ Evolution
Special Referee: Johnny Eden
Lizzy Dalmon vs. Muru
(The voice of Lizzy Dalmon is heard. She tells everyone what she is…
Beautiful
Rich
Athletic
Talented
360 by Charli XCX starts to play and Lizzy Dalmon steps out on the entrance ramp. Flashbulbs go off as she poses on stage. She makes her way to the ring. The fans know she's terrible, but don't dare boo her. Instead she is cheered and admired. Halfway there she stops and poses so that people can take a picture of her. When she gets to the ring she climbs the steps and enters. Once in the ring she continues to pose for more pictures.)
Ethan Miller: From Beverly Hills, California, coming in at 5 feet 6 inches, known as the BRAT, Lizzy DALMOOONNNNNNNN!!!!
(She gets the loudest boos from the audience anyone has ever heard. They instantly don't like her and she doesn't care.)
Johnny Eden: This woman had to step down from the pedestal she’s placed her plastic ego on, but the look I noticed in her eyes showed true determination. I can sense that she’s everything I said she was and she NEEDS the adulation from everyone more than she truly lets on.
[Up on the tron a picture of the earth is seen. The earth then explodes as pyro and explosions fill the arena. The entrance ramp is filled with smoke as "Handshakes To Fist Fights" by Devour The Day begins to play. Muru then walks out through the smoke and makes his way down the ramp. Along the way to the ring he slaps the hands of a few fans and then he slides into the ring. Once in the ring he gets to his feet and raises his hands to the air as the crowd cheers]
Ethan Miller: From Allen Park, Michigan, coming in at 225lbs and 6 feet 2 inches, he is THE Greatest Show on Earth. MURUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!
(The crowd gives their newest favorite superstar everyman the biggest pop and he gives them back his widest smile)
Johnny Eden: Muru, the seasoned veteran threw some serious verbal haymakers at Lizzy this week and he definitely brought a determination that was a step higher than hers. He actually carried himself with a this is it or nothing kind of way, which I can’t knock him, I totally get it and what has motivated him to this point. To find one’s footing here in Action Wrestling can come easy to some, but for those of us who have to prove that we can work ourselves to the bone, it is grueling.
(The bell rings and Lizzy walks up to Muru as she trash talks him and when she is a good foot away, she slaps him across the face. The audience boos loudly.)
Johnny Eden: OUCH! Lizzy normally pretty straight forward with her words, she literally slapped the taste out of Muru’s mouth and I wasn’t sure how he was going to return the favor or not.
(Muru comes back holding his jaw but smiling wickedly as she backs up to taunt him. He springs into action and launches into a clothesline from hell.)
Johnny Eden: Did I mention she needs the adulation from the fans? Yeah, she should’ve kept her head on a swivel in that moment…
(Lizzy is too busy taunting the audience and goes head over tits to the canvas. Muru wastes no time, goes over to her, picks her up by the hair, stands her up and does a series of quick jabs which staggers her. Instead of going for a discus punch though, he slaps her across the face.)
Johnny Eden: And there’s the receipt that should’ve been paid with instead of that hellacious clothesline…
(She turns her along with it and comes back and we can see the enraged ire in her eyes. Muru backs up and smiles at her. She charges and tries for a step up enziguri. No dice though. He sees it coming and pushes her back off. She backs up a few steps, then turns to run the ropes. On her return, she launches into a turnbuckle run tornado DDT. But again he counters by catching her arm and turning it into a Mexican arm drag.)
Johnny Eden: The wrestling maneuvers that Lizzy is using, undoubtedly how much of a natural she is to this sport and I couldn’t have been more surprised by that fact.
(Lizzy flies across the ring, jumps up and tries again, into another Mexican arm drag. She screams out her frustration and Muru blinks once, twice, then mock screams back at her. Both of them end up in a screaming match in the center of the ring)
Johnny Eden: Lizzy can definitely get under someone’s skin and watching these competitors break down into THIS, it was half comical and half saddening.
(Screaming turns to shouting as Lizzy gets more and more mad and Muru just keeps egging her on. Finally fists start flying and because Muru is a good 120 lbs heavier than Lizzy, he finally catches her arm, grabs her wrist and whips her towards the ropes. She runs, jumps up on the turnbuckle and tries for a perfect whisper in the wind. It catches him in the head. He doesn't go down like she wants but he staggers backwards holding his head in pain. She shoves him into the corner, slaps him across the chest a few times which garners a "woo" from the audience, then attempts a double knee strike.)
Johnny Eden: Lizzy was easily proving how nimble she can be in the ring and Muru showing unmatched resilience.
(When Lizzy backs up from the double knee strike, she turns to face the audience and taunt them giving Muru time to clear his head. She doesn’t see it coming. He charges and executes an Around the World and she goes down hard.)
Johnny Eden: I knew Muru’s Around The World neckbreaker was vicious, but seeing how quick he can execute, definitely hits harder up close and personal, bruv.
(Muru picks her up again and sets her up a jumping neckbreaker which he affectionately calls the Final Cut. She goes down like a ton of bricks and he covers her.)
Johnny Eden: So much back and forth, I almost forget to drop down for the count, but somewhere in the back of my mind the instinct kicked in.
ONE!
Johnny Eden: Here it goes…
TWO!!
Johnny Eden: Lizzy this is your moment…
THREE!!!
Johnny Eden: Passing you by… And Muru, chin up old man, you just found your footing in Action Wrestling.
DING DING DING
(So not as easy as Lizzy thought it was going to be.)
Johnny Eden: The seasoned vet wanted it just a bit more than the overzealous Lizzy Dalmon, but I was there front and center to witness the brightness in her eyes and I also caught wind of the fire that was breathed back into the once outdated Muru. These two competitors are as crazy as it sounds, the future of Action Wrestling. Muru is going to bring every single thing he can to take my Television title and he’s going to prove to be a true warhorse, that is a fact I won’t question. But I’m the Workhorse of this company in the division that needs a Champion willing to battle week in and week out without hesitation. The fans wanted to toss Addy A away for her taking the Television title division hostage and I will not let them down. I will not allow another to take my place as their Saint. After this match, I’m not writing Lizzy off and I’m going to put in the work to prepare myself for the seasoned veteran skills of Muru. As for the fans, I hope they enjoyed this little insight, because no knock to Billy and Chris Avery, but this match wasn’t about them, it was about The Workhorse, The Warhorse, and the Coin-Operated Mechanical Horse and as the Television Champion, it my duty to give the fans what they WANT.
