So much for that one on one match for the World Heavyweight Championship. I guess I should have expected things would change after Gerard Angelo cashed in his All-In briefcase and effectively turned Action Wrestling on its head.
It would have been nice to just swap out Teo Blaze with Angelo and move on, but that would be too easy for me. I have to believe that both Blaze and Balfore have to feel they were robbed.
I don't blame them.
Instead it looks like the four of us are going to have a hell of a battle.
I'm looking forward to it.
It's only a couple of days until the latest episode of Monday Night Clash. With that comes the biggest match in Muru’s short Action Wrestling career.
With expectations growing every day, Muru has ramped up his workouts. He can't afford to let this opportunity go to waste. His tag team match this week would be easy to look past, but he can't do that. He must keep the momentum he's gained.
Muru grabs a towel and wipes the sweat from his face. He grabs a bottle of water and his phone from a nearby bench.
She still hasn't responded
As he goes to put the phone down, it rings. He answers it without looking to see who is calling.
Muru: Hello…
Voice: Hey bro, been awhile.
Muru rolls his eyes.
Muru: Yeah, we haven't talked since you bailed on me.
Voice: That was my bad, but look at you! You're about to be champion!
Muru: No thanks to you…
Voice: That's why I called. I wanted to apologize. I thought maybe if you still wanted help, I could come back.
Muru: Like you said, I'm doing pretty well by myself.
Voice: Come on, don't be like that! We're family!
Muru: It's because we're family I'm willing to give you another shot. Just don't fuck me over again Ryan.
Ryan: I won't. I'll be there tomorrow.
Muru hangs up the phone and then looks to see if he received any messages while on the call. He puts the phone down, disappointed, and takes a drink of water.
Ladies and gentlemen, I hope you like tag team matches.
If I'm going to be teaming up with someone, I could do a lot worse than Odin Balfore. We've both been around a long time. Even though our paths have never crossed, I have to respect someone who has given so much time to the business. I hope the respect is mutual.
We both might be getting a bit long in the tooth, but I think based on this match alone, it shows we aren't slowing down yet. Experience is something you can't buy.
Plus the man is massive!
Our opponents aren't slouches either.
Losing the World Heavyweight Championship the way Teo Blaze did had to suck. You've already got your hands full with Balfore and then BAM the next thing you know you're in a triple threat match. That's pretty much a no win situation.
In fact it was.
You'll get no argument from me, if you feel like you got screwed. You had to know deep down it was a possibility though right?
If not, that would make you a fool. You're not a fool are you Teo?
I guess whoever's in charge of booking thinks highly of you. You're getting a chance to get the title back. It must be nice. I've never gotten such breaks in my career. When I lost it was back to the bottom, so I've gotten good at climbing.
Despite the circumstances, losing the title could be nothing more than a minor inconvenience for you.
That brings us to Action Wrestling's new top dog. A man who is no stranger to being “the guy”. All the hard work you put in finally led you back to the top. I just have to say congratulations man. I have a question though. How does it feel?
How does it feel to be so desperate?
I need to know how someone gets to that point. I know how important it is to be World Heavyweight Champion, but to stoop so low. You could have been honorable and announced when you would cash in your briefcase. You could have been better.
Instead you were a thief.
I don't know you. Perhaps that's the type of man you are. Are you willing to do whatever it takes no matter the cost? I don't know if I could do that. I know you worked hard to get where you are. You're one of the best. A few different choices.
You could be the best.
I know this match is booked to get all of us in the ring together. It gives the fans a preview of what's to come. It allows the company to get those Paramount+ subscriptions up. Ultimately to most, the outcome doesn't matter.
It matters to me!
I mentioned momentum. I think it's important. I don't want to lose it. Since I've been back, my shoulders haven't been pinned. No one has gotten the one, two, three on me. If that happens to me this week? It makes me look weak. It makes me a target. I don't need that.
I'll worry about being a target when I have the title around my waist.
Either way, it should be a hell of a match. Let's give the people their money's worth.
