Bobby Mercer…the first thing I want to say is thank you for your service. It's a commitment and sacrifice everyone is willing to make. I remember when I was graduating high school I had an army recruiting pushing me pretty hard. He wanted me to be all that I could be. I already knew what that meant. I wasn't going to get there being sidetracked.
I don't want to diminish your service, but I don't understand. If it was your dream to be a professional wrestler, why would you do anything else? From the moment I found someone crazy enough to let me into a ring I was giving everything I had. There was nothing going to keep me from my dream. Not even Uncle Sam.
I hope your path works out for you. It doesn't seem like it has so far. They won't even let you get into the ring from what I can see. You made your debut two years ago, and then what? You lost and they put you back on the shelf. Up until this week they didn't feel comfortable having you out there.
Then they saw they had Muru and knew if there was anyone to give you a second chance against it was me. There is no one more professional or more experienced. You should consider yourself lucky. I think we all know how this will go.
Just remember to smile when you're looking up at the lights.
I came to Action Wrestling for a challenge, and Mercer, you're just not it. There is talk backstage that I'm being given the “soft” schedule. Even since I won a chance at the World Heavyweight Championship, they need to see that I remain worthy.
Why are people worried? I'm not.
Mercer, you call yourself The War Machine. I just want you to know it's not intimidating and I'm not scared. You've done nothing to back it up. I'll tell you what it is, a cute, on brand nickname someone in marketing came up with.
I got my nickname by performing. It wasn't handed to me out of training.
I go out every week trying to live up to being The Greatest Show on Earth.
It doesn't matter if I'm facing Bobby Mercer, Terence Howard, or even the great Don Cheadle, the result is going to be the same. I just have too much experience and too much on the line. My hand must be raised in victory.
Bobby, I've already thanked you for your service.
After our match, you'll be thanking me for allowing you to share my ring.
