PROMO | Coronation
(On Camera)
It would be easy to look to the future and overlook the present. After all, the prospect of a Match Madness Final in Canada against either Gerard Angelo or Odin Balfore is indeed rather tantalizing. Here are two men with whom I have a volatile history - Angelo, in more recent history has been a man who has been a thorn in my side. A riddle that I’ve struggled to solve… Like a snake, he seems to have the uncanny ability to slither his way out of almost any situation.
And Odin Balfore, who I might consider one of the greatest rivals of my career has had more battles with me for the Television Title than anyone else. It seems like my first 2 years were spent battling this giant with mixed results.
Defeating EITHER of those men would feel like a bit of retribution…
Doing it in Canada would all but solidify my legend in this great nation.
But I’ve gotta get there first… And ONE man stands in my way.
Da Geto Boy | Jody Madrox…
This is truly his biggest test here in Action Wrestling - it’s one thing to come up against a hot opponent in a huge tournament. It’s quite another to do it in front of what will certainly be a hostile crowd. There will be no Jody Madrox signs in the stands, no warm welcome, no hospitality - Da Geto Boy might as well be standing in the center of the Roman Coliseum with the Lions chomping at the bit.
However….
To say Madrox is some starry-eyed kid would be a gross misrepresentation. He’s a man who has a reputation as a hard-hitting street fighter in a career spanning over a decade. I’m sure he’s been in more than a few fights that he wasn’t expected to win. Hell, he might even have a little chip on his shoulder with the opportunity to play spoiler in the semi-finals of Match Madness.
It’s no secret he feels as if this is just the inevitable coronation of my return to the top of the mountain. He’s even stated, himself that he’s the underdog in this fight. And with all things being equal - he’s just that | the underdog | Jody isn’t just fighting the most complete technical wrestler in the business - but also Canada itself upon the marquee in Quebec.
I’m not here to settle for anything less than success, and I’m not interested in walking away from this thing with anything less than my guaranteed World Championship rematch… the one that I’ve been owed since losing it to Downfall at the end of last year.
You claim that I’m the more popular superstar.
That I’ve got more credibility… They want to see Tatiana Jolee in the finals.
And you’re 100% correct.
Not because of nepotism.
But because I deserve it.
I’ve made a living disposing of gormless punchers like yourself. You might float like a butterfly, but I’m the fucking fly swatter. And on Monday night, I’m going to give you an education in the fine art of getting your ass kicked in front of a crowd of screaming Canadians eager to see you tap out.
Don’t take it personally… I think you’re a pretty good guy, hell I would probably even have a beer with you under different circumstances. I don’t doubt your toughness, and I’d be an idiot to think you’re in the semi-finals by mistake. There are no easy wins to be had on a roster such as this. But this is the real world, and good guys don’t always win in the end.
We’re not in a Rocky movie and the underdog isn’t going to be vindicated.
You’re in MY backyard, in front of MY people, and you’re standing in my way.
Maybe I’ll shake your hand after I’ve cleared this last hurdle… Maybe I won’t? What matters is the result - and I assure you that this result won’t be slipping through my fingers no matter how hard you punch or how clever you think you may be.
I am the chosen one.
I am the queen of Canada.
I am the BEST wrestler in the world.
And you’re just one more steppingstone on the road to the greatest coronation in this federation’s history.

(On The Radio)
“Bonjour ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to CBC Radio One with your host Monsieur Jaques LaPierre. As promised, we are here with Action Wrestling superstar and fellow Canadia, Tatiana Jolee!” TJ found herself sitting quaintly across a fancy recording booth table from one of Canada’s favorite radio personalities. Jaques, who she had met in the past doing work for charities was a rather energetic middle-aged man who like herself was a part of the 2SLGBTQI+ community - he was a person she trusted and considered a friend. So, when he invited her to his show on CBC Radio One, she accepted without hesitation.
“Bonjour Jaques, I’m so happy to be here.”
She replied with that bright smile before sipping her Tim Horton’s coffee.
“Of course, of course! We are all so excited to speak about Action Wrestling’s Canadian tour and your progression in the Match Madness Tournament. The sporting world has begun to take notice. I get calls all day from your fans to discuss this, so why not have the legend herself on to tell us about it in person?”
His thick accent draped his words as he exuberated. Normally this would be an all-French-speaking interview, except for the embarrassing fact that she barely knew any French at all.
No people… Not ALL Canadians can speak French.
Jaques’ husband… She had met him only once at a dinner, but it’d be rude not to ask… And rudeness isn’t in her nature outside of the wrestling ring.
“He is good! No doubt at home with our dog Maggie listening right now.”
“Oh, well… Bonjour James and Maggie.”
This was getting to be more of a catch-up between friends than a promotional bit, they had to do radio and cover Match Madness. Fortunately, Jaques was a pro and wasted no time transitioning back on topic.
“You have defeated two similar wrestlers on your path to the semi-finals… Driller, who is a hunky brawler, and Dragur who is rather frightening. Now you find yourself against yet another brawler. What makes Jody Madrox different than the two you’ve already defeated?”
“Nobody is the same in wrestling. Just because the styles are similar, the person behind it - their strategy and mindset are never the same. I don’t expect to have the same match against Jody as I did against either of my previous opponents.”
Similar is never the same. Only a rookie would make such ineffectual mistakes in judgment. Just because she’s talked a big game about schooling Madrox, doesn’t mean she isn’t aware of his ability to score the upset. He’s no simple opponent - those don’t exist in Action Wrestling.
“Not the same match, no… But you will still defeat him and enter the finals, oui?”
“Oh, he’s toast. I’m going to win this thing and then I’m going to get MY World Title back.”
She said with a confident smirk, sipping her coffee. Win, she MUST. This was more than just a tournament; it was more than a World Title match at April Fools Gold - it was her life. It was EVERYTHING she worked towards.
“You have not had success in your previous two attempts to regain the title. Some might claim that it’s not meant to be. Why are they wrong?”
“Neither were in a one-on-one match… And I didn't take the fall in either match. Does that excuse me losing? No. But I can promise that if given a one-on-one with whoever the champion is… I will reclaim the AW World Title and bring the gold home to Canada.”
“All of us here would love that like we’d love to see Lord Stanley’s Cup back where it belongs.”
God… 24 years since Canada has held the Stanley Cup.
Hopefully, she can at least bring one bit of gold back to Canada.
“I’ll make all of you proud.”
Jaques brimmed with excitement as he adjusted his thick-rimmed glasses and took a quick sip of his own coffee.
“Undoubtedly… One more quick question before we go to break. And you have about 40 seconds. Who would you rather face in the finals and why?”
“Odin Balfore… Not because he’s either easier or tougher, but because he’ll at least fight clean. Angelo is just as challenging, but he’s a slippery basta-”
Ahem…
She catches herself before using course language.
She catches herself before using course language.
“Oh boy, oh boy… We’ll discuss ALL of this when we return from the break!”
This was going to be interesting…
