*** Got bored and wanted something to do
Members of Inner Darkness:
Cody Black:
The Wolf Rae Rossi Black:
Nightelf Lizzie Dadner:
Bill Wheldon:
Place: Cow Palace, San Bruno, Ca
Date: Sat. March 9th, 2024
Time: 9:30PM
Outfit: (not her but her outfit and bass guitar)
(The camera fades to black to an arena filled with 10000+ screaming fans. We are in the middle of a concert and the strobes and spotlights are going off and the crowd is jumping and clapping as the song is being played. The camera pans around and focuses on the stage and then pans closer to it. On stage we see Vespertine is currently playing her bass guitar. On her right is Cody, also providing vocals and playing a guitar but dressed in all black with. On her left is Rae who is playing another bass. On the drums is Nightelf and she plays a double set and on a pole in front of the drums is a human skull. On the right side of the stage is another band member playing Electronic Keyboard. The big drum that Nightelf has to use a foot pedal for has the band name on it: Inner Darkness. Vespertine just started the current song a few minutes ago and is now in the middle of it. It is a song called “High Hopes” The sound comes up….
The grass was greener
The light was brighter
When friends surrounded
The nights of wonder
Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide
but the highest altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world
****
(guitar solo)
(camera cuts to shot of the audience clapping)
(camera cuts to shot of Nightelf on the drums)
(camera cuts to shot of Cody and Rae strumming their guitars.)
(camera cuts to shot of the one anon band member playing the electronic keyboard)
Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There's a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon though down this road we've been so many times
(cut to shot of audience bouncing up and down)
The grass was greener
The light was brighter.
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
When friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing!
The endless river
(she screams in fury where the lead singer of Nightwish yelled out)
Forever and ever
(the song plays a few more seconds and then comes to a finish. The crowd pops and goes wild.)
Ves: How are you doing Bay Area? You doing good? You ready to rock? (as one, the crowd goes yeah.)
Cody: All right, that’s it. This is Vespertine we are talking about here. Did you hear what she said? Are you ready to rock!
Audience: HELL YEAH!
Cody: Are you ready to roll???
Audience: HELL YEAH!!!!
Rae: Then lets give it up for her and an original song she came up with called “My Crying Soul!””
(the audience gets whipped into a wild frenzy and the haunting tones of the song start out.)
“My Crying Soul”
It’s crying my soul
It’s bleeding from a place within
Time, it seems, has taken its toll
It’s unable to see where to go and where I’ve been
(camera cuts to shot of Nightelf emerging from behind her drums and sits down to take position. She starts playing)
There is a dark empty space residing within
Hollow enough to house a place
For someone there on in
(camera cuts to shot of Rae and Vespertine standing back to back rocking out hard to their guitars.)
It’s crying, my soul
It can’t really feel
While on this deep dark knoll
Or chained behind bars of steel
My soul can’t really see anybody
So it can’t really say
Why is there nobody
To be with me today
(Camera cuts to shot of Cody Black looking out at the audience while he plays. He winks at someone in the audience and smiles)
It’s crying, my soul
Its weeping, seeping and sobbing
It’s been taken by a person of a troll
Who’s not really alive and being
It’s crying, my soul
It can’t really feel
While on this deep dark knoll
Or chained behind bars of steel
It needs to find that someone
Someone to share my life
It needs to be with that one
Who understands my strife
(camera cuts to shot of a few male audience members rocking out and singing along with the song)
If I’m alone and sheltered on this plane
With no way to escape
Or get out from the blinding rain
It’s crying, my soul
It can’t really feel
While on this deep dark knoll
Or chained behind bars of steel
(camera cuts to a shot of a few front row female audience members who are rocking out)
It’s crying my soul
It needs to find that certain special someone
It should be ready to rock and roll
And have a reason to play and to run
(guitar solo)
Right now it just stands alone
Laid bare for all to see
But no one cares, not even the stone
It’s crying, my soul
It can’t really feel
While on this deep dark knoll
Or chained behind bars of steel
It cries, it pleas, it begs, it says
It’s empty like my life is to me
Oh can’t somebody help me please
And show me a kindred soul that is like me
It’s crying, my soul
It can’t really feel
While on this deep dark knoll
Or chained behind bars of steel
(the Outtro takes a couple of minutes with Bill and his Electronic keyboard and her bass guitar but finally it comes to a close and the entire audience yells and applauds wildly. The sound goes down as Vespertine and the band get ready for another song. The camera pans around to the first few rows of the screaming fans who are bathed in red light and then fades out.)
Cody: Ladies and gentlemen, we got a special treat for you tonight. As you know some of our songs are cover songs by other bands and some of our songs we wrote and produced ourselves. Uh…. Ah… here I’ll let Vespertine explain the next one.
(he goes to sit in front of the drum set and grab a swig of water as he does so. Vespertine smirks at him and takes his place.)
V: Well, thank you Cody, you have such a way with words. Anyway, this song we do every time we tour. The first time I heard it, I thought it was talking about me and I became entranced with it. It reminds me of days gone by and futures unseen. As you know, if you have seen me wrestle, if I do one thing in my promos and in the ring, I try and do it epically. I do things big and grandiose. I have loved this song ever since I heard it and have tried to incorporate into my entrance theme but with no success.
(the crowd starts getting riled up)
V: I’m sure you know of the song I’m talking about. It’s called “Battle of the Dragons” and here to help me sing it is the original singer and my idol: STEVIE NICKS!”
(the crowd goes wild at this point as Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac comes out on stage dressed in her usual wild flowing black gowns, with black women’s boots and black shawl. She hugs Cody and Rae as she goes by and as Cody starts the song, she goes over to Vespertine and bows to her and they hug. She then walks forward and takes the mic to start singing.)
Battle of the Dragons
This was not pre-planned
but after some calls
I decided to go
to the other side of the world
I see something,
I see a handsome soldier
I see myself remaining
when all of you are gone
And the reason
that I paint you
in my paintings.
And the reason I record
the sound of your voices.
No one walks away
from this battle
From the power,
it's so strong
like a fury
Keep that fury
deep inside you
And wish it to end.
And when your friends
start asking you why.
You just say nothing
(a bridge)
The beautiful and the sensitive
and the, oh, so very young
We are adapting to your silence
I can live here without you,
at least I'm learning
But I cannot live without your songs
Who have you been with?
Have you been with friends
or is there more? (You're not listening to me)
Have you been writing,
well, you say it's harder now
Well, I got the message,
stay among the living
From what I can tell
I need to be here
Y
ou say someone's looking for you
Nothing is wrong
Well, I can and I will go on
When this battle is over,
I feel I will survive
In the battle of the dragon
No one walks away
Oh, you wish it to the end,
wish it to the end
(and as the song fades out, the audience applauds more loudly than before. She bows to the audience and then turns to Vespertine and bows to her. The sound goes down as they go right into the next song. The camera does a shimmer effect…)
(When the camera stops shimmering it is after the show, Vespertine is laying on the couch in her dressing room. Rae and Duke, one of the roadies come walking in.)
Duke: Hey you got visitors.
Ves: Visitors?
Rae: Fans. Time for fan interaction.
Ves: Ugh, I'm tired. (She sighs and groans then gets up.) All right, I'm coming.
Rae: Happy face girl.
(She does so as they walk out.)
