Partially looking for feedback, and advice on how to improve in my RP's with Niobe. I'm struggling a bit, so any advice would be helpful.

Was never good at giving feedback. Options and opinions were more my line. You're doing good. You need to expand your word limit when you have more than a 700 word limit. And you need to come up with a SL that is intriguing to all who read it. Put her in a different light. You call her the living Nightmare, right. Maybe show her in that light because she doesn't seem to be a nightmare to anybody. Make her more aggressive, psychotic, slutty?, maybe. If you ask Downfall, or Jolee or Ned or any of the other veterans for help, I'm sure they would be more than glad to help you and come up with something for your character. We were all beginners once, don't be afraid to ask for help. Hope that helps.

Partially looking for feedback, and advice on how to improve in my RP's with Niobe. I'm struggling a bit, so any advice would be helpful. I have been wanting to give advice to a few people this week (one deleted, sigh), but I really would like to be able to help people struggling in spots, because I've been there, man. The wordcap you're at right now is usually around 1k. Is that where you're comfortable, or would you like to try higher limits? I've read your work, and I actually think you have a really descriptive setting and good pace in CD, but, due to wordcap, it can often be short and cut off quickly. As with your shoot, at times, it just ends. What I like to preach, is that a good shoot needs to be structured. It starts with a beginning, a laying out of your thesis and the point you want to start with, and it builds from there. Everything you're saying, shoot-wise, needs to build to a punchline. If your shoot is just ending on a random line, then that derails everything you've said before, it lands flatly. I believe you're a strong writer with an excellent vocabulary, and you have some really insightful shoot and good one-liners, you just have to use it to build your argument line by line. In addition, as I'm reading your last five roleplays, what strikes me most is how often you're falling well under the word cap. In general it's better to be under than to go over and lose, but if you're roleplaying at 1k, and coming in with 630 words, then your roleplay is suffering for it, because you aren't maximizing your words and using every available character, which could go to more shoot, better description, more CD to allow us insight into your character, that sort of thing. Again, you're very good with scene setting and pacing. But using those words right up to close on the wordcap line will allow you more room to get your point across. Which is why I ask, would you like to be placed at higher wordcaps and be able to use more words? I always struggled with word caps, and I know full well the pain of writing something that goes 300 over and needing to make severe cuts, and feeling that the whole product suffers as a result.

I've been falling short in RP's, count wise, is because I tend to start things just before the deadline and I can't get enough out before then. It's my own fault for waiting until day of to do this. I feel like my structuring of my shoots could use some work. At least a little bit. I have trouble chaining things together coherently sometimes. I was going to reach out to you next to gain some insight on how to go about working on this haha.

I would like to try higher limits but I'm afraid that I would end up rambling and not getting to the point. When I tell you how many times over the past two decades that this was the general feedback for MY rps... If it helps, try to write out a rough draft as early in the week as possible. Get an idea for what you want to say and how you want to say it. Throughout the week, look it over and maybe try to find where YOU feel you can word something better. Or where you maybe could leave something out to put a whole new thing in. I legit wrote 2 promos ON THE SAME DAY thus past week. I got a whole rough draft of like 600+ words, then got inspired and essentially rewrote the entire thing. Capped off at 1030. Like... don't ever stifle your creativity because of word limits. It's easier to let the juices flow and then fine tune than it is to stop yourself and struggle through.

I was going to reach out to you next to gain some insight on how to go about working on this haha. Is there any particular reason why you wait til last minute?? I'm not judging, just trying to get an idea of where your head is at. I know I have the ADD/ADHD/MVP/PhD/MSNBC/EIEIO, which means either I can scrawl out 12 promos within 24 hours of the card being posted or write half a promo about 2 hours before deadline. In either case, my head seems to focus better on rps. Probably because, since '04, this has been my consistent escape from reality. I digress. The idea I was trying to make before my SQUIRREL!!! moment was to write out all the thoughts you have in your head throughout the week. Then read and re-read what you have, and try to consolidate it into one cohesive piece. If you're worried about "rambling" when aiming for higher rp counts, get your shoot done first and then use the extra to set the scene. Sometimes, the background can contain imagery that sets a certain tone and gives your promo that extra "oomph".
