Today, I want to talk to you guys, specifically, about entrances and commentary.
This is going to be blunt and I'm going to have my "Downfall's the mean admin" hat on, but it needs to be addressed and, going forward, will be a lot blunter. We, the match writers and admins that do this every week, aren't here to "disrespect" any of you, and I think sometimes that when we write a thing that hangs a lampshade on something we may not understand, it comes off as insulting, but I'm really going to need some understanding here. A joke about a font being changed isn't disrespectful, because A) that font IS legitimately unreadable.
But also, if you do not like how commentary treats you, particularly in your entrance, there are ways you can get around that to make your presentation fully match your vision. First and foremost, you can write your own match, and that way, you can fully encapsulate how you want to come out. Or, you can go into your bio page, and fully draft out how you want an entrance to come across.
I don't care if you don't like doing entrances, or think entrances are stupid. Entrance is part of the presentation of your character, and we admins/match writers are NOT trying to "disrespect" your character. We are working from information we're given.
The point is, if your entrance is incomplete, unfinished, unclear in a way that doesn't make sense, then you are doing yourself no favors because we have to fit it to make sense on the actual show.
I'll stand right up and say that if someone gives me an entrance with no particular music, they are walking out to Lady Gaga. If someone's entrance written out is one line and just names a song and doesn't go into detail HOW they walk in, whether they raise their arms up, celebrate, pose for the crowd, do anything, then depending on what mood I'm in, I'll either have them walk straight ahead like they're shuffling to the bathroom with a blank expression. I have written someone coming out doing a Cossack dance. Because, again, they did not make their intentions plain.
How you want your character to come off, is on YOU. One hundred percent. If you want us to write you a certain way, in your matches, in your entrances, then you either write it out fully in your bio, or you send us DM's beforehand saying "Hey, this is what I had in mind." You can even write entrances for yourself, with what the commentators say, before your match, and DM it to us, and that way, it will come off better and nobody needs to get pissed off.
But going forward, you will note that we are not "disrespecting" you by writing anything in commentary or adding entrance descriptions to fill in blanks on how you walk to the ring, that are not present in your bio. Cool? Cool.
