The following is a letter addressed and published to the Action Wrestling website.
Two weeks ago, I told the world that I was going to work my ass off to earn my position.
Last week, I proved a very game competitor wrong when he assumed that I was just another flash in the pan.
This week, my path to glory continues in the form of the Omega Champion. A very impressive, very talented, very dangerous Omega Champion.
Jody Madrox has been a tour de force ever since unseating Roman Gunn to claim the title for his own. And having lost to Roman myself, I understand the fortitude it must have taken to accomplish that particular feat. And to your credit, you have defended that title in dominant fashion ever since. So I offer you this before anything else, Jody: you have my respect.
Pleasantries out of the way; I know what you're thinking right now. You're looking at this match thinking, “I can phone it in this week. It's non-title, so why shouldn't I allow myself an off week?” And as you sit back, snacking on a bag of Brownie M&Ms, it hits you. “But this Wilds character. Despite his lackluster record last year, he is kind of a big deal. And he's already got one win after claiming that he's aiming for the top spot… maybe this is my moment to cement myself against one of the Greatest To Ever Do The Damn Thing.” And as you look to the gold on your shoulder, you're reasoning with yourself.
Off week. All in.
Rest up. Push yourself.
Take an L to fight next week… or put it all on the line against a living legend.
And as you sit in your car, or your chair at home, or on the bed of your hotel room for the night; you open your phone to look at the card for a sign. And you see this letter highlighted on the main page of the company website. And you open it to find me laying down a gauntlet. A gauntlet that reads as follows:
I am coming into Clash with everything I am. And when I look across that ring, I won't be looking across the ring at the Omega Champion, who isn't required to defend his title tonight. When Jaice Wilds steps into the ring this Monday, he will be doing so with one mindset:
Jody Madrox is the reigning World Champion. And defeating him means I become World Champion. And I will stop at absolutely nothing to leave Clash with the World Heavyweight Championship draped over my shoulder.
So the question now, dear Jody, is whether or not you have the balls to come back at me.
The question is whether or not you're willing to defend yourself as though you were defending the title.
The question is whether or not you're willing to prove that the title you hold is at the same level as the top prize in this business.
I'm not going to presume to be your voice of reason. But based on the ferocity with which you defend that title, I sense that you have a certain level of pride in not only your abilities, but in your position. And Jody, if that pride is any indication of your worth, you'll bring me the fight of my life this Monday.
Because I sure as hell will make sure you earn every single second of this fight.
See you Monday, champ.
