Are we sure Bret isn’t also a Mr. WrestleMania?

You know, I actually watched WrestleMania IX today. It wasn’t as bad as I remember it. The wrestling was good. A lot of the finishes were shit. I felt bad that Undertaker had to wrestle Giant Gonzalez. In regards to Hogan winning the belt, I remember losing my shit when it happened, so I don’t look at it unfavorably. Bret got his moment the next year.
There are definitely worse WrestleManias. I’ll give it a 5/10.

I just realized that I neglected to include Bret vs Vince at WrestleMania XXVI.
That’s probably for the best, right?

I'm a huge Bret Hart fan! I had watched parts of wrestling shows with my dad prior to this, but one Saturday morning in 1993, I was flipping through the channels and stumbled across a Bret Hart match. That's all she wrote. Instant WWF fan. Instant Bret Hart fan. I think it was some time around WrestleMania. Can't remember if it was before or after. But I do remember that I was hooked by King of the Ring, because I remember the promos for the Yoko/Hogan match and I remember not being able to wait until that following Superstars to find out who won the King of the Ring tournament. I may have watched that Monday Night RAW. At that time we didn't have TVs in every room and I didn't have control of what was on the TV on a Monday night.
So yeah, while I can appreciate what Shawn Michaels did in the ring, I'll forever be a Bret Hart fan.
With that said. This list is terrible! I can't choose my absolute favorite! They're all fantastic!! But if I had a gun to my head and HAD to choose, I would probably vote for the WM13 match between he and Stone Cold. That story that they told leading into it and through its entirety - leading up to the double-turn - was phenomenal!!
But I CANNOT let the WM8 match between he and Hotrod go without any love at all!

But I CANNOT let the WM8 match between he and Hotrod go without any love at all! That was the first Bret Hart match I watched where he didn’t win with the Sharpshooter. That’s what I liked about Bret’s matches. They always ended in unpredictable and innovative ways, even when he lost.

Between that and how crisp his moves were, his matches were always the most artistic and most beautiful.

So the clear winner was Bret vs. Austin.
Someone voted for Bret vs Yoko from WrestleMania IX 😂
Here how I would rank these matches:
1. Bret vs. Austin 2. Bret vs. Owen 3. Bret vs. Piper 4. Bret vs. Shawn 5. Bret vs. Yoko (X) 6. Bret vs. Yoko (IX)
I’ve never actually watched Bret vs. Backlund so I didn’t rank it, but Bret said it sucked and I’ve never heard different from anyone else.

I can't argue that ranking at all!
I didn't really hate any of the Bret/Backlund matches. Backlund was just from a different generation lol.
