***Got bored. Wanted to write something
(I sit crosslegged in the sand on my towel. The fog is coming in but it's a mile off the coast so it's not cold yet. I have brought Geisha with me today and I keep her leash wrapped around my ankle. I can't do this with Kenji, he is too jittery and skittish. Geisha is more mellow being the older of the two. Everyone who walks by enjoys the kitty but they are smart to keep their distance. I'm a small woman leading around a large cat. I know she won't charge them but they don't. Kenji would. I need Jared or Johnny to take him if I wanted to take Kenji out, they are stronger than I am. Geisha for some reason knows me, knows what i'm thinking, knows how well I can handle her, responds to my commands better so knows a kindred female spirit in me. There are times when I can't control her so Jared takes her back into the lion's den. But I feel she is calm today so I have taken her to the beach nearest Davenport as that is closest to Los Altos just over the Range.)
(She puts a huge paw on my leg and I absently stroke her fur.)
V: Do you want to walk? We can-
(This is something I haven't seen before here. Geisha is looking at what appears to be a really shaggy goat. I grab the leash around my leg and keep a hold on it. I can sense she can see it but is more curious than hungry. I only fed her an hour ago. She doesn't get up but lifts her head and snarfs. A sign she is only curious. The woman gives a wide berth and the goat starts bleating.)
W: Is.... it.... ah....friendly?
V: I fed her an hour ago. Her name is Geisha. Uh.... what kind of goat is that?
W: Andes Long hair. She has a leash on but will you be able to keep her down if she decides my Sheila is a good snack.
(Good question. No idea. But I point to the parking lot behind me anyway.)
Ves: I think so. But I AM her owner. Her trainer is up at the car taking a phone call. He can handle her better than me.
W: Is she a pet?
Ves: Yes. Mine. Yours?
W: Yes. Mine.
(She goes on her way and Geisha puts her head back down. I lay down, Geisha puts her head back up and looks around. A few minutes later, Jared is off the phone and has joined me on the blanket. I get up as he comes up and I unwrap the leash from my ankle so I can take her for a walk.)
Jared: You were lucky. If she had decided to bolt after that goat, you couldn't stop her. And she would've dragged you after her. No amount of training would've stopped her.
V: I know. I know.
Jared: Good. Be careful, she might if that goat goes by again. And by the way who brings a goat to a beach?
V: Probably the same kind of animal lover that brings a tiger to the beach.
(He laughs and shrugs. Then his phone rings again. He takes it. I take the leash and Geisha and let her walk along. The dog walkers give Geisha a wide berth. I think it's funny. The Goat comes back. Jared's right. Who brings a goat to the beach. I give Sheila the Goat a wide berth. I hang on tight to the leash and let Geisha know who her master is. She snarfs and moves on. She goes to sniff something at the shore and I stop. A hottie of a man jogs past sees my big pussy cat and gives me the thumbs up. He is a hottie, I would jump him. Geisha finishes with whatever she has found and starts to pull on her leash to go... to the water. I let her go and find she wants to play in the surf. I let her leash go slack but hang on. She rolls around in the surf. Funny, it always surprises me when she does this. I never knew big cats like her liked playing in the water. I have taken her a few times and she continually surprises me. I break out of my reverie to see a crowd of people watching and taking pics of her. I smile and wave. A little girl comes up and asks if she can pet the kitty. I hate to tell her no but I have to. I don't know what Geisha would do to her if someone besides me, Jared, or James pets her. I pull on her leash and she comes back to me. I get down to the level of the little girl and I bring Geisha's head to her outstretched hand. The girl giggles. I see more kids coming our way but I have to tell them no as I need to take her home. I can tell she is getting overwhelmed. Suddenly Geisha snarfs and roars. Jared has seen all this and is sprinting down the beach. He grabs the leash from me and I stand in front of Geisha to calm her down. It works. I thank everyone for being patient. But I really have to get her home. Everyone disperses and we walk on down the beach back to the blanket.)
Jared: I'll take her home.
V: Good idea. I don't think she was going to attack but her pull on the leash was enormous.
Jared: And she was small and tasty.
V: True dat. Thank you for foreseeing what could have been a bad situation.
Jared: No problem. I'll get her home. We need to think about if we want to take her to the beach next time. Woulda been worse with Kenji.
V: (I nod) You got that right.
(We say goodbye, I nuzzle Geisha and they go off. Now I'm alone on the beach and lots of cute guys are looking my way. I'm in my bikini but I have no wetsuit or surfboard. I could go body surfing or go for another walk on the beach. I decide I'm going to sit here awhile and watch the hot guys go by.)
