The scene opens inside the go-to restaurant for Jonny Cedrone – La Cucina in downtown, historical Havre de Grace. We see Jonny walk through the front door. He greets the hostess with a smile as she returns the gesture in kind. As Jonny makes his way to the banquet room in the back of the restaurant, he sees a young couple at a table enjoying their dinner. He walks over to the waitress, talks to her in secret, pulls out a big wad of money, thumbs out a couple hundred-dollar bills, hands it to the waitress and points over towards the young couple. Jonny continues walking to the banquet room.
Jonny makes it to a table where he is seated by a beautiful Italian waitress. Before taking his order, she pours him a glass of wine that’s reserved for VIPs. Only the best for people like Jonny Cedrone! She looks adoringly into his eyes as he makes his order. He shoots her a confident grin. As she leaves, she flirtatiously touches his broad shoulder. Jonny looks over his shoulder as he watches her walk away.
After sitting there for a few minutes enjoying the wine, Jonny’s friend Tony Malato enters the room.
“THERE HE IS!!!”
“OH! Look at the head on this bastard!”
“At least my head ain’t full of Jell-o like some people’s!”
“He’s got jokes! Jimmy Fallon, look out!”
The two share a laugh as Jonny stands up. The two embrace in a hug before sitting down at the table
“It’s really good to see you Jonny.”
“It’s good to be able to see anyone!”
“We honestly thought you were a goner Boss.”
“What? Are you kiddin’?! It’d take more than a thug and a baseball bat to get rid of me!”
“How are things?”
Jonny shrugs his shoulders.
“You know. They’re goin’. She’s doin’ her thing. I’m doin’ mine.”
“Wait. Are you two still married?”
“Yeah. I mean…yeah. We just don’t see each other a lot. She’s busy. I’m busy.”
“Ah!”
“Have you ever figured out who it was that attacked you?”
“It could literally be anyone! Balfore because he’s such a chicken shit. He tried to duck Doc Holiday’s challenges for the longest time until Doc forced his hand.”
“Doc Holiday. He challenged Balfore, and challenged Balfore but Balfore wanted no parts of it. Holiday even resorted to pushing a Pepsi machine on him, then attacked him in the hospital as he was recovering.”
“But what about those Bozo masks that were left around here and there?”
“That Clown Prince of Chaos. He comes and goes whenever he pleases and whenever he does come around he leaves a wake of violence and annihilation everywhere he goes.”
“Well, whenever you figure out who it was that attacked you, let me know and we’ll take care of them.”
“Trust me. They’ll be well taken care of.”
The scene fades to black then fades back in. We’re looking at the front entrance of the Bert Ogden Arena. From off camera we hear Jonny speak.
“Edinburg, Texas! What a way to make my return, huh?!”
“Hey! If you wanna do things big, you gotta do it in Texas!”
“So a lot’s happened since the last time we talked.”
“I’ve been cleared to come back to the ring. So there’s that.”
“At Final Chapter, Balfore was attacked in the hospital recovering from having a Pepsi vending machine dropped on him and lost the US Championship.”
“Things have just gone all topsy-turvy around here since I’ve been gone!”
Jonny turns the camera around and videos himself as he shoots his promo.
“Well I say it’s time to set things right again. I say it’s time for order to return to AW! To get this process started right, what we need is a number one contender to the US Championship. And wouldn’t you know it, that'll be li’l ol’ me.”
“I’m sure you’re asking yourself, now how can something like that happen? How can he get that position when he’s been gone for so long? Well allow me to shed some light on that for ya.”
“Before I disappeared to recover from multiple concussions inflicted upon me by a still-mysterious assailant, I was set to challenge for the US Title. Then, under suspicious circumstances, I get injured and Doc Holiday becomes the new US Champion!”
“Congratulations are definitely in order for you Doc! No doubt about it. But I want you to keep that Title nice and warm because I’m coming for the very thing that you took out from under me!”
“But before we get there, we’ll have ourselves a little tag team match. On your side of the ring you have yourself, the reigning and somewhat disputed US Champion. Your partner? None other than the Omega Champion himself, Jody Madrox! Both men are street smart and street tough! One from Oakland, CA and the other from the Motor City! Both of you will be an extremely tough egg to crack!”
“But I have no worries.”
“Because ya see, on MY side of the ring we have the woman with the never-say-die attitude! She’s mean. She’s lean. She’s a fighting machine! She makes the biggest monsters of men cry like little babies. She administers more pain than she takes and never thinks twice about it! I’ve had her on my side before and I’ve fought her and let me just tell you…I much rather have her on MY side of the ring!”
“What I’m trying to say is that ol’ Jonny C is back and he’s better than ever! And unfortunately for you Doc and you Jody, the two of you are the first two victims of my return!”
“Doc, this match isn’t a thirst-quencher. It’s a teaser! It’s a mere warmup for the big showdown! But rest assured Champ, the outcome of both matches will be the exact same…you, down on the mat, counting the lights and me with my hand raised in victory!”
