Things open up to the loud cacophony of noise, yelling voices of kids and teenagers hanging over the room and the blinking and beeping of different arcade machines going off at once as people spend what’s left of their weekend at the local arcade deep within Anaheim. The camera pans about, catching sight of people standing at their games or looking around for something else to do. Only one person stands out from the crowd, and it’s none other than Niobe Martin with an unknown female standing next to her leaning against the ‘house of the dead’ machine, talking repeatedly. Niobe is wearing a black ‘hell’s frozen over’ and dark blue pants. Her companion is in a grey tshirt with a mario mushroom on the front and gray pants.
”So this is how we’re going to spend our hard earned quarters, tearing up pixel zombies at the arcade? Thought we were gonna walk up and down the boardwalk and window shop. Don’t think the shops will like it if we pay in quarters ya know.” She says with a laugh.
”I’m well aware of this Nikki. Though when I called you and suggested this, you were all for ‘blowin’ those zombies to oblivion’. Zombies first, shopping after. These quarters are gonna be used for something fun. Might as well be this.” Niobe answers back..
”You could always take those quarters, put them in some dingy sock and smack Mercedes with them.”
Niobe pinches the bridge of her nose, trying not to laugh at that image. ”Don’t think I wanna do that. She might steal the damn thing after and spend it on booze or a new shirt that isn’t stained with gods knows what. I’d like to keep what’s left of my sanity as I figure out what the fuck I’m doing.”
Nikki shoves Niobe’s shoulder, laughing as she watches her stumble before righting herself. ”It’s not like you have to lose the rest of it to find that sweet spot out there. You’re a fighter, you always have been since I’ve known you and I know you’re not one to back down and run off when shit gets real. You’ve got all kinds of support; friends, old wrestling buds, everything. You were a champion in the past, you can be a champion again. You can’t walk away and throw the key now.”
”O ye of many wisdom bites. I leave my offering of shiny quarters at your feet for such wisdom.” Niobe answered, scooting a few quarters her way over the machine.
Nikki held up her quarter, preparing to insert it into the machine as she grabbed the plastic gun from its holder with the other hand, motioning to the cameraman that was following them. ”So shoot a nice promo for Mercedes then and I shall accept.”
Niobe laughed, shaking her head before turning her focus on the camera.. ”No amount of punching will do you any good though Mercedes. You’ll find another little trailer home to call your own sometime soon. Maybe even using the ashes of that place to build your little life back together. If you can pull your head out of Vespertine’s ass for a second that is. I know you hate the girl, but really, get a room. We’ve been down this road before, yes and you came out on top, which is a shame but…this time I’m going to make sure that the only home you get sent to is the retirement home. I don’t care about your name, your mom, that little cat you had when you were 5. All I care about is smashing your teeth back into your throat, and walking away.
Better hope you got some good dental insurance, or whatever your little face uses to cover the shame.
Remember that, ok?”
