For those of you with short attention spans, Jacob Koenig is the second longest reigning Omega Champion in Action Wrestling history. Unlike that hack Roman Re -- Gunn, Koenig defended the title regularly against top talent all over the world. It feels like forever since the last time we saw Koenig in action-packed action, and his return at Final Encounter surprised the fans in attendance. His intentions were clear: he wanted a shot at the Omega Championship.
The battle between reigning challenger Jody Madrox and mighty challenger DRAUGR was brutal, and Madrox was able to retain the championship. In fact, he became only the second person in history to pin DRAUGR in the squared circle. Moments after that match, Jade Riley caught back up with Jacob Koenig for his thoughts on the matter. The following is the footage to be posted on topefed.com.
Jade Riley: Jacob Koenig, after the brutal match you just witnessed between Jody Madrox and DRAUGR, have your intentions changed in regards to returning to Action Wrestling to challenge for the Omega Championship?
Jacob Koenig: Absolutely not, Ms. Riley. I am just as confident now than I was when I was dominating the Omega Championship scene years ago. Jody Madrox is tough. I'll give him that. He did the unimageable and he kept down the mighty DRAUGR. It looked like the big guy suffered some sort of medical emergency, so it's not like Madrox can say he put down DRAUGR at his very best. Whatever. That's not important right now. What you want to know about is my intentions.
Jade Riley: That is correct. Do you have to go through the application process all over again?
Jacob Koenig: Of course not. There is an open door policy for nearly every superstar who leaves this place. I left on good terms, and I have even trained a number of their superstars at Backbreaker Fight Club over the years to prepare them for big matches. I won't name names, but I will say that Jody Madrox was not one of them. He could really use the seasoning, if you ask me. He's a scrappy fight, no doubt. I wouldn't necessarily call him "good" at this sport. He got lucky a few minutes ago against DRAUGR. He won't be so lucky when we eventually face off.
She puts her hand to her ear and listens for a few moments, then smiles at Koenig.
Jade Riley: I just received word that your request has been granted!
Jacob Koenig: Seriously?! It was that easy?!
Jade Riley: Apparently so. This is the land of opportunity, and yours will come next week on Monday Night Night Clash!
Jacob Koenig: I assume travel information will be sent to my --
His phone chimes and he checks the notification.
Jacob Koenig: Oh wow. That was quick. We will be live from UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana. Excellent! Maybe Jody can give away fifty tickets again to locals so that he has fifty people to cheer for him again. It's so heartwarming how he gives back to the community. That won't mean shit when he steps in the ring with the master of the Koenig Crab. Leading up to Final Chapter, I caught Jody's radio interview, Jade. He admitted that he is not on the level of Roman Gunn or DRAUGR, and yet... he somehow squeezed out a victory against both of them. He underestimates himself, and maybe that does some mind fuckery with his opponents. I don't know... and I don't care. My mind is a steel trap, and his pity party won't penetrate my flawless defenses. This is the beginning of a new era for the Omega Championship... when it is returned to its first and rightful owner. I am choosing to make my own destiny here in Action Wrestling when I take back that coveted championship.
Jade Riley: If you win the title next week --
Jacob Koenig: Nah, Jade. WHEN I win the title next week.
Jade Riley: Okay. When you win the title next week, where will you go from there?
He thinks for a moment.
Jacob Koenig: I'm going to go to Disneyland!
Static.
