The following is a letter addressed and published to the Action Wrestling website.
I got a text from my agent this week.
“Jai, I know you're still healing up, but they put your name on the card for Final Chapter.”
No problem. That “prince” failed to claim the Television Title, so they want me to come close the book on our little rivalry. Sure; I'm always down to come in and boost ticket sales. But then he sends me the info for my match.
Tag Team Championship match.
With TJ Alexander.
Against the SuperMarks and the New Brotherhood.
Now, I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. I appreciate that AW wanted to bring me back a little early and was eager to showcase what I bring to the table. And I got a title match at a Pay-Per-View. So, really, thank you to the powers that be for the push. But since I know everyone else is thinking it, I'm just gonna come out and say it.
Why, exactly, am I in this match??
Look, no hate to the kid. But I honestly don't know TJ Alexander from a gingerbread cookie. So even if he is a relatively talented guy, we have zero chemistry to speak of. So you have two tag teams and a random tandem in contention for the titles.
And, I mean, sure. I get it. The SuperMarks ain't exactly the cream of Action Wrestling's Tag Division crop. But at least they're a legit team.
Besides, I've been around long enough to see what Bish can do. You give him enough space, he can wrestle a GI Joe figure and make it watchable. So for him to choose what he feels is a worthy partner and put him up against a duo that was thrown together last minute… almost seems like a slap in the face, to be totally honest.
I'm gonna give it to you straight, Kev. I have nothing but respect for who you are and what you mean to this business. Most recently, I'm proud to see what you and Cipher have done to elevate the Tag Division. There is something to be said about a duo who is so dominating that they're literally thinning the herd. Individually and as a team, you bring something special to the table… and I'm ready to test myself against it.
Love me or hate me. Respect me or revile me. At Final Chapter, I make no insane promises to leave with the Tag Team Championships over my shoulder. But I give my word that I will be leaving with your blood on my hands. And for my career, my legacy…
That is a much more satisfying ending. See you soon, boys.
