Hey folks, narrator here! Back once again with a day in the life of YOUR Cruiserweight Champion, the venerable Andre Jenson of #2gents fame!
Today, Jenson is doing a bit of crafting! Crafting for you and I involves some paint, some fabric or something, small things for people to wear or use you know?
Jenson however is crafting a life size diorama of the tomb of horrors! A module from a D&D campaign from way back in the day. To do this he needs to use a HUGE drill to accommodate the support pillars.. I know what you’re asking, and yes. Jenson will use this as a metaphor because of course he will. After a few hours of digging, Jenson finally takes a break.
“Eureka!” He shouts, mainly to himself, but a few of his posse are milling around, tinkering with the beautification of the landscape. “I’ve hit the mark!”
They all clap and congregate around him while he takes his noise protection from his ears. He points down the hole, looking at his friends in dismay.
“Erm, fam we have a problem.” He shakes his head, like a construction worker that just had his whole project absolutely destroyed by an unforeseen geological issue.
“Well what’d you know” says one of his posse as they lean over the hole. “You found a big ol’ cavern.”
“Yeah, that's not good for foundations”. Jenson mulls. “Maybe there’s a dragon down there. Can you do us a favour and send a drone? We need to see the size of that thing! I’ll just go take a walk and think things over.”
“Yeah no problem Andre, will map it out on the software, we’ll have a render of the cave in a couple hours.”
Jenson walks away, talking to the open air as if someone (me) is listening.
“Imagine that!” He chuckles. “7 Months of hard work to get where we are, 7 months of planning just to go and fall at the first hurdle when we finally get our chance. It’s unfathomable!! It’s just not fair or right! Driller? You’ll find out soon enough.”
Jenson smiles happily as he picks up his AW Cruiserweight title from the box he left nearby. “This hardly leaves my sight nowadays, and for good reason. After all, It’s the thing everyone wants, it’s what defines a career. People want to put this cruiserweight division on their shoulders and run with it. They want to take this title from the people and use it for their own grubby ends.
Driller spent 7 months on the sidelines, waiting, watching, planning, seething. Until now, he’s not had the chance to be vindicated, to win what he thought he deserved after he was denied the last time around.
After all, a triple threat match loss? Hardly his fault right? Unforeseen circumstances, he didn't know who was there after he hit Karlie with the drill Bit!!
Thousands of variations of the same theme later he’s convinced it wasn’t his fault and that when the opportunity arises again it’ll be different.
So he started drilling to lay the foundation of his reign, knowing that this time, he learned from his lessons. Knowing that this time nothing can stop him.
But he’s hit an insurmountable obstacle that he didn’t see coming and it hit him hard.
We all do it, hell I just did it here! For all I know I just landed in a Red Dragon’s lair and the fire breathing jackass is hoarding his gold and is just itching for a fight with whoever comes anywhere near it.
Or it might just be a cavern. I don’t know yet.
What I do know though is Driller, you may have waited 7 months to come and get this title, but buddy, you definitely just landed in a dragon’s lair. But this platinum dragon is defending the people’s gold. He’s there for the folk that nourish him, that give him his reason to live, the people that he would protect with his own life. That means he fights harder, longer and more viciously than if it were his own.
This means your final Chapter is the end of your campaign. Mine has an epilogue.
