Niobe brushed her hair back, staring out of the window at the passing traffic and people walking around in the snowfall from her position inside at a table at a Caribou drinking a hot cocoa. Her phone was laying in front of her, screen displaying a phone call with a long distant friend.
: Are you still planning to come down this way?
“Yeah I am. Everything has been set up, I should be there after this show. Gonna be nice to get away for a while.”
: No kidding. It’s always nice to get a vacation in, especially being on the road.
Niobe sighed, letting out a yawn then taking a sip of her hot chocolate before continuing.
“If that ain’t the truth. Come down and check out the indy scene, get some training in and go crazy.”
: Don’t go too crazy. You’ve gotta make it back to your next gig in one piece.
“I know what I’m doing. I gave the promoter down there a buzz and he’s pretty excited about having me come down for a show.”
: I bet. Just like the good ol’ days huh.
“Yep. I miss those days. Goin’ from town to town and sleeping in some random hotel with a pizza for dinner.”
: And dealing with the weirdos at 1 am, hoping that nothing crazy happens.
“As if having the cop car lights flashing in your window wasn’t enough. At least things aren’t that bad anymore.”
: Exactly. People in class are gonna be jazzed to have you there working alongside of them. Giving the wisdom and all that.
“I don’t know if I’m the person for wisdom, but I’m all for helping out where I can.”
: Hey whatever words you can offer will help. Big or small. I’ll let you go, and I’ll see you soon, alright?
“Sounds like a plan. See ya.”
The phone call ended, and she punched a few buttons, finishing the last of her hot chocolate before she got up and bundled up before making her way out of the place.
She glanced up at the sky briefly.
“I’ve really got to study what’s going on lately. Where’s the love between you two anyway?”
Niobe slid into her rental and drove off into the snow filled city.
The next we see of her is sitting on a park bench, watching the snow collect on the frozen water.
“Y’know Karlie I can’t figure out the reason either to answer your question. I keep getting these chances and they keep slipping through my fingers. Every single time. There is something I’m lacking, truthfully, and I need to discover what it is…soon.
I’m no stranger to tag team matches, having my share of them in the past so don’t count me out of this just yet. I’ve got to partner with Chelsea, which is kinda funny because I beat her a couple of weeks ago and now we have to get along and manage to somehow beat the two of you. I have hopes that it’ll work out…I hope.
Look, Ves, you beat me yes a few weeks ago so congrats. Even more props to butter your stupid ego. I don’t have a good retort to you, except that your the biggest dummy I’ve ever seen. I wish I was on the other side of that mirror so I could shatter it, reach through and punch your lights out.
