The mighty DRAUGR is still on bad terms with Devils Gate, especially after that unwarranted attack on Clash following his match against Seattle native Shawn Young. The assault was surprisingly broken up by Omega Champion Jody Madrox.
Today, our adventure begins in Queens, New York. Above a coffee shop is a small studio apartment, we see the former dominant World Television Champion DRAUGR standing by the window, staring out into the night. Footsteps are heard in the hall and the door opens wide.
Sara Pettis stands at the door, and she turns on the lights. DRAUGR grumbles and continues his brooding. Sara laughs as she takes some reusable grocery bags into the kitchenette. As she unpacks some items into the cupboard, her phone rings. She looks at the screen and smiles before answering it.
Hey, hon. I just got upstairs with Vik’s groceries.
…
Oh, I had to just make up a list. He still won't talk to me but… we’re doing okay, I guess.
…
I know you want to… but I--
…
I just--
…
Okay. I totally get where you're coming from. This is just so--
…
Fine. You win. Listen, we've got a trip to Cleveland for Clash on Monday. After that, we're staying in Chicago for the week before heading to Detroit the following Monday.
…
Oh, they won't know what hit ‘em, hon. My dad has all of the paperwork in order, and I'm meeting with a law firm in Chicago recommended to me by… a friend.
…
Oh, yeah, him. I don't know why I'm always so vague about him. He's done a lot for this family since--
She pauses, looking over at the mighty DRAUGR, as he approaches the kitchenette.
Hey, I'm gonna let you go. Once we make it to Chicago, I'll text you the address to the Airbnb. You're still in the area, right?
…
Cool, cool. If you think you're ready to meet him, I trust you.
…
Oh, yeah, for sure. I'll send you the invite for Stephie's birthday party. She'll be 10 and… oh boy… can she be a handful. She's got so much of her -- well, your dad -- in her.
…
Alright, Lexi. I'll talk to you later. Love you.
…
Byeeeeee.
She hangs up the call. The mighty DRAUGR, having overheard one side of the conversation, tilts his head with intrigue.
Okay, so here's the deal, Vik. My daughter is turning 10 in March and… I still don't think she's ready to meet you. You're her grandpa and all but this… all of this is too much for her… right now. On the other hand… your son had another daughter, who he only knew for a few years before he passed.
She really wants to meet you and she… well, she's well-versed in the weird stuff that happens in this family. She spent a year on the road with my younger brothers.
She laughs heartily.
After Clash, I've got… business… to take care of in Chicago. We'll stay there until heading to Detroit for Final Chapter. Lexi lives in Chicago and--
The mighty DRAUGR inhales and exhales.
Þakka þér fyrir allt.
She doesn't speak… whatever that is. The mighty DRAUGR returns to brooding by the window as she finishes unpacking the groceries.
So… uhh… we should talk about next week's Clash. Well, I'll talk about it. You just… do what you do.
She walks over and stands next to him. Both stare off into the night.
You need to be careful out there in your match. Not just because of Devil's Gate. Jody saving you from them could have been to lure you into his own trap. We can't trust him fully, but we have to play nice for this tag match. Dwade and Kuraim aren't the best wrestlers by any means… but they survived some gruesome torture before coming to Devil's Gate. Dwade was a loyal follower of Der Metzger in Germany, and Kuraim was in a Ukrainian dungeon for horrible crimes.
The thing about these two is that they are expendable to Devil's Gate. Not in the way you were, where they could take advantage of you and toss you aside. Dwade and Kuraim are nothing to them. Merely guard dogs. They could be put down at any time and nobody in Devil's Gate would lose a wink of sleep. I know more about them than they realize. Those files I got from my dad… let's just say… Devil's Gate won't know what hit ‘em.
They stand together in silence for a few moments. Sara places her hand on his broad shoulder.
We're going to take them down together, Vik. They've messed with my family for the last time. What you and Jody do to those nobodies on Monday will be but a ripple compared to the tsunami that washes them away.
Endirinn.
