Torture, Alexander Pasternak, and 1 more like this

When Beverly Adams was a child, she would spend hours watching her mother Fiona fight in some of the most vicious matches anyone can imagine. Fiona tried her best to steer young Beverly away from the horrors of professional wrestling.
One night, Fiona and Beverly are having dinner together. The conversation was friendly until Beverly mentions her interest in wrestling.
{Fiona}
This isn’t the kind of life I want for you Bevy.
{Beverly}
I don’t get it mother. You always taught me to go after my dreams.
{Fiona}
That was when I thought you would be a doctor or teacher.
Beverly places her fork down next to her plate. Her eyes are welling with tears as her left hand is balled up into a fist.
{Beverly}
Why do you always treat me like a damn child?
Fiona’s jaw drops hearing her daughter curse for the first time.
{Fiona}
Mind your tongue.
Beverly looks at her mother when her phone dings. Fiona starts to clear the table off when she catches Beverly jumping for joy.
{Fiona}
What?
The question falls on deaf ears as Beverly runs off toward her bedroom.
Fast forward several years later, we find Beverly Adams inside the same dojo her mother trained in. The stench of dried blood and rat piss filled the dojo. Fiona, still not thrilled about it, has joined her daughter as her personal trainer.
{Fiona}
Are you ready for this Bevy?
Beverly strikes the heavy bag multiple times before giving her mother a firm head nod.
{Beverly}
I still don’t understand why you are against me doing this mom. I have studied all of your tapes and even the tapes of my mentors in Torment. I am certain that my youth can outlast any one who dares to stand in my way.
Fiona shakes her head. She knows how brutal this life can be for anyone. It’s even more difficult when you are minority.
{Fiona}
I am sure the Rat Prince will try to disrupt your confidence. You are still learning this business.
Beverly takes her mother by the hand.
{Beverly}
Will you stop worrying? The Rat Prince has a lot of experience but he’s not as young as I am. I have studied him mother. He relies on cheap tricks to pull off a win. I don’t. I rely on skill and technique. I know what I am doing. Just trust me.
Fiona swallows her pride and looks at her daughter.
{Fiona}
What happened to my little girl?
Beverly smiles.
{Beverly}
She grew into a beautiful young woman. Come February 12, my debut for Action Wrestling will be a Clash of worlds and styles. You have me who represents honor and you have a rat. I may not be experienced but I do know the first rule. Don’t underestimate your opponent. I don’t plan on doing that. I plan on giving it my best shot. Win or lose. So Rat Prince I’m ready. Are you?
