Scene opens up with Chase staring out the window very intent and serious.
Therapist: Chase? Chase?
Chase: Yeah, I've been doing alright, I suppose. There's just been something bothering me lately, and I can't seem to shake it off.
Therapist: Well?
Chase: You know Gerard Angelo, right? That Hollywood star who seemingly has it all?
Therapist: Of course. You've mentioned him a few times during our sessions. May I ask what specifically has been bothering you about Gerard?
Chase: It's not just him, really. It's what he represents. I can't help but feel bitter about the opportunities some people get while others, like myself, struggle to catch a break. Gerard Angelo seems to effortlessly climb the ladder of success, while someone like me has to fight tooth and nail for any chance. Streaming, movies, tv shows, albums, this piece of shit is everywhere, he even holds the golden ticket to getting a World Title match any time he wants and what do I have?
Therapist: I understand how frustrating that can be, Chase. Comparison is a natural human tendency, but it's important to remember that everyone's journey is different. It's not fair to compare your progress with someone else's.
Chase: I know, but it's just tough to watch. And now, it's happening again by the way, stupid ass Claire Hawkins, a relatively unknown wrestler if you ask me is suddenly getting the same opportunity as I am. It feels like my chance at success is being overshadowed yet again. I should be facing the Television Champion in a ONE ON ONE MATCH, not her. Now, I have to face off with her for a title match next week? What is Brady Bolt thinking man? This is so dumb.
Therapist: It sounds like you're feeling threatened by Claire's rise in the industry, she is one of the best and she isn't unknown like you said. Could it be possible that this is more about your own insecurities rather than the fairness of others' success?
Chase: I have worked so hard for this opportunity, and it's frustrating to see it potentially being shared with someone who hasn't put in the same effort.
Therapist: I hear your concerns, Chase. But remember, we don't always know the full story. Just because it appears effortless for others doesn't mean they haven't faced their own struggles. And as for Claire, it's important to separate your own journey from hers. This is your chance to prove yourself, regardless of who else is involved.
Chase: Yeah, yeah I need to focus on my own path and not let bitterness cloud my judgment, I get it, but sometimes I want to take a steel chair and just swing it ya know? Just swing it over and over and over..
Therapist: Chase..
Chase: And just SMASH it down on her and Gerard too! Just beat them over and over with a steel chair!
Therapist: Chase! Remember, success in any industry is rarely a zero-sum game. Your opportunities will come, and it's important to have faith in your own abilities. Keep working hard and stay true to yourself.. not this steel chair badge of honor you keep wanting to wear! It's not worth it!
The scene fades out and into the living room with Chase sitting at the kitchen table while his dad is cooking some food.
Chases dad is talking to him about the new side job him and his wife got to help Chase settle with the new financial hardship Chase is in trying to prop up his parents and pay off their debts. Chase is in his own mind. And in his mind he has Gerard by the throat and is shoving him against the wall. He's punching, and punching. Gerard slips down..
Chases dad keeps bringing up the fact that it's almost dinner so Chase some could get something on his plate but in Chases mind he has a steel chair gripped tight in his hand and hes swinging down on Gerard Angelos back over and over! Claire appears and he swings the chair down on top of her head knocking her down and out.
Chase's dad notices his son's distant gaze and places a hand gently on his shoulder, snapping him out of his trance.
"Hey, Son," his dad says softly, concern etched in his eyes. "I know you're going through a tough time mentally, but I want you to know that I'm here for you. We'll get through this together."
Chase looks at his dad, feeling a mix of gratitude and guilt. "I know, Dad," he mutters, trying to pull himself out of his thoughts. "I just can't help but feel inadequate compared to Gerard. He's always in the spotlight, and no matter how hard I try, it seems like I can't measure up. I think it's unfair that he gets shots and I don't!"
His dad tries to talk about the financial hardships.. "As for our financial situation, I don't want you to stress about it. We may be going through a rough patch, but your happiness and well-being are far more important. We'll figure things out; we always do."
"Thanks, Dad," he says sincerely. "I needed to hear that. I'll focus on my game and stop letting external factors affect my mindset. We'll get through this, together."
Chase's dad gives him a tight hug, providing the support and reassurance he needs. Chases dad goes back to the kitchen a few feet away and makes his son a plate.. Chase nods in agreement but inside.. deep inside his mind, he grabs that steel chair tight and is smashing it over Claire Hawkins lifeless body splashing blood about. He's choking Gerard Angelo to the death. Chase is slowly losing it.
