Today's saga begins on the western border of Los Angeles County. There you will find a fifty-five acre ranch that is part of the Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park. It went from a ranch to a dairy farm to a movie set during the era of westerns. Years later, a family took residence there and some controversies ensued.
Welcome to Spahn Ranch.
We don't have time to dig into the atrocities allegedly carried out by the Manson Family in the late sixties. There's much more to the story, and Dr. Reginald Royce may inevitably take the truth to his grave. Today, this is the home of a Thanksgiving Feast for the employees of Devil's Gate who are stationed for a few weeks in preparation for the Trial By Fire at AW Turmoil at the SoFi Stadium.
Seated around the very table where Charles Manson once broke bread with his family are Dr. Erik Konnors, Ben Marsh, Richard Michaels, Dane Cook, and a docile DRAUGR. There are a number of unknown guests, but none of them are the acting leader of Devil's Gate, Pete Harper. As plates are passed around for disbursement, it is notable that DRAUGR does not have a plate. He just sits, motionless, possibly medicated like he has been lately.
Devil's Gate undoubtedly fears the monster inside of him. There is no doubt in that matter. It is increasingly likely that they also fear his humanity. Little has been revealed about his life before Projekt ICE, to the world or even to him. His memory has not returned since coming back, and that frustrates Konnors, who hopes that Projekt ICE can be used to save Dr. Reginald Royce.
DRAUGR has been on thin ice (pun intended) with Devil's Gate as of late. He has been defiant both in treatment and at live sports entertainment events. The upcoming Action Wrestling World Television Championship Trial By Fire is a punishment set up by Devil's Gate for his disobedience, but it also serves as an ultimate challenge to the six challengers. Each of them has the great achievement on the line of being the first to put down the mighty DRAUGR.
There he sits at the end of the long table, opposite of Konnors. Nobody aknowledges the strongest of the strong as they enjoy the immaculate feast. He feels like an outsider, and took note of his surroundings. Even now, while dormant, his eyes are scanning the room. On the wall to his right are pictures of Devil's Gate alumni: Charles Manson, Aj Nin Red Rum, Der Metzger, Raging Dead. That final picture brings a slight smile to his face and...
That man has looked familiar to me for some time. I couldn't place it. Did I know him in a past life? They have not told me of our paths crossing. There's just… something… about him. I reviewed all of his footage from Action Wrestling and he was damn impressive before his untimely demise. Earlier this year, an imposter infiltrated Action Wrestling, along with a Der Metzger lookalike. If ever they emerge from the shadows, they will be dealt with.
I seem to be making a lot of enemies in recent months. Fighting Gritty in my impromptu debut made me a legion of enemies in Philadelphia. It wasn't long before the World Television Championship put a target on my back once I liberated it from Doc Holiday. The likes of Jody Madrox, Niobe Martin, TJ Alexander, and Billy Ray Cash have come for me since then. They all want what I have… but none of them has been as hungry as TJ Alexander.
Turmoil will be his third attempt at removing this championship from my possession. Bless his heart. He has such great admiration for the position I am in, and he will keep coming for this until he is put to rest. Begrudgingly, I will take on the role of executioner at Turmoil. Putting TJ Alexander down will be for his own good. This unhealthy obsession of his will only result in repetitive disappointment. Try and try he might, he will never take down the mighty DRAUGR.
The poor boy is delusional and still puts words in my mouth. I have yet to speak a single word since coming to Action Wrestling. Mayhaps he sees Mr. Harper or Dr. Konnors and assumes they speak for me. My words here in my diary are my own. To my knowledge, I am the sole viewer of my words. I am under constant surveillance though. So anything is possible, I suppose.
I digress.
Another poor unfortunate soul who tried taking this from me is Jody Madrox. Leading up to Spookyfest, he threatened to behead me and end my time in Action Wrestling. A month has passed since our last match. Don't you know I'm still standing better than I ever did? Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid. Still the leader of the television revolution, as Jody put it. Someone will have to explain to me what that means. Back in my day, there were only a handful of channels. Apparently Action Wrestling has nine million views live on CBS and premium live events on Paramount+. I am blessed to be a part of this.
Where was I?
Ah.
There is a young contender by the name of Freddy Whoa Jr. He is punching up from the bowels of CruiserClash, and in way over his head. If he put half of his effort into this sport that he does his lyrics, he might just make it one day. Unfortunately, his final match comes at Turmoil when I silence him for good. I put him in the same class as Hot Shot Wayne Austin and Chase Jackson. Two more hotheads who can't see the forest for the trees. I have studied by Wayne and Chase, dating back to the inception of this company. They're always on hand for matches such as this… and always collect a check for minimal efforts. I will do what needs to be done, and they will collect their nominal fees.
The shining light in the doldrums of my contenders is Jessie Lee. I have watched from afar and admired her strength. Both in and out of the ring, she gets right down to business. She had the brilliance to call me, “some oversized zombie in a lizard mask.” She knows not what is in my heart but she will soon find out. She lives for war, and she will soon have it. Along with the rest of my challengers, Jessie Lee will be tested at Turmoil.
This trial by fire is for them.
Not me.
