Scene 1...
(We come upon Vespertine and James at his parents place in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. Here we are joined by his sister Rina and Armando, with the new little baby in tow. James other brother, Ricardo. is also there as well as a few uncles, aunts, and grandparents that live in the area. As they sit around the table celebrating an American tradition in Mexico, Vespertine looks to be at home with everyone. She sits next to Rina and they are deep in discussion. James is on her other side talking to Ricardo who sits next to him and Armando, Rina's husband, on the far side. His mother comes into the room carrying a turkey with a wizened little abuelita following her with a few more dishes. One of the aunts brings a tray with fruits and rice wine. His grandmother speaks in Spanish and as Vespertine isn't fluent enough in Spanish, James or Rina translates for her.)
James: She is wondering who brought the fruits and the rice wine. (Vespertine raises her hand. He translates.) What is it? A part of American Thanksgiving?
Ves: (she talks and James translates for her): No Senora. La fruita es la... how do you say... fruit from South Korea. In Seoul, we celebrate a different kind of Thanksgiving with multicolored fruits and rice wine. I brought them to share with you. La... fruita se... llama... songpyeon and hallabong. Asian pears, grapes, Asian apples. The rice wine is just regular sake.
Father (in broken English): And.... what... is.... this....kind of.... Thanksgiving.
James (to his father in Spanish but we get subtitles) I think you are thinking of asking, "Is it the kind of Thanksgiving in Seoul, the same as they celebrate in America.
(his father replies yes as James' mother, abuelita and a few tias (aunts) sit down to begin to eat.)
Mother: Si. What is.... this.... Thanksgiving.... in Korea? Sud? (Vespertine nods) Korea de Sud
Ves: It's called Chuseok. This year it fell between Sept 28th and the 30th. It's usually a three day holiday. But it's more of an autumn festival to Koreans than an actual Thanksgiving.
Father: (through James) And what are you giving thanks for in Korea?
Ves: Mostly that we have a good harvest and to celebrate our ancestors. Well we celebrate our ancestors every kind of celebration we have but this would be like your Dia De las Muertas. We go to our ancestor's graves, shrines or burial sites and we tidy them up and then prepare their favorite dishes. Mostly so they can eat them at midnight and take the rest back with them to the Afterlife.
Rina: Wow. Why is it in September?
Armando: And why is it celebrated in 3 days.
Ves: We celebrate it in September because that is the end of the equinox and beginning of the harvest season. So what we are really doing is thanking the gods and our ancestors for blessing us with a good crop year that we had and hopefully another good one coming up. Like the druid celtics, the autumnal equinox is actually three days, so for us, we celebrate for 3 days.
(A child runs through carrying a dish, Ricardo and Ameliana shout after him to slow down while carrying food. He doesn't listen.)
James: How many Asian countries celebrate Chusoek?
Wizened grandmother (cutting in, in Spanish with subtitles, James translates) I've tried the pears, they are good. I tried the rice wine Sake. I think I'm drunker now than I was 5 minutes ago. Your sweet to bring it.
Ves: Awww gracias abuelita.
Rina: And what else do you during these three days.
Ves: I guess that depends. What do you do during Dia De las Muertas?
Father: Despues de la Dia de las Muertas, we...sometimes... play games.... in honor of dead. Games an ancestor loved. Do you do same?
Ves: Very much so. Usually it's korean style wrestling or archery, you know games or sports where the whole village or city can participate in. If the games are board games like Neolttwigi, aka Korean plank or Yut Nori, then they are played within the family but can be played out in public if they so chose. Then we have dancing. For the women, we dance to celebrate the harvest but only if there is a full moon. This year, the moon was 3 quarters full, so we didn't do the traditional dance.
Armando: When was the last time you were in Korea to visit relatives? I mean with your busy schedule, the jobs you have, and your parents being.... (he lets the sentence trail off)
Ves: Estranged? I'm ok with you saying that. Last time I was in Korea visiting a few cousins was, 5 years ago. I mean, we call each other, especially my female cousins but right now, I don't see a need to go back. Probably if I do, it will be for someone's funeral.
Mother: Donde es tu madre y padre. Y abuelitos?
(James explains to them why they are estranged. To which his mother crosses herself, and says sorry, she did not know. Another child runs by with an empty plate. The grown-ups dig in, Rina's baby cries through a baby monitor near her but Armando gets up to see how it is.)
Ves (to Rina) And how is little Angelina. She is just the cutest.
Rina: Thank you. She is starting to sleep through the night but every once in a while she'll wake up and cry so we are still dealing with that. She's eating crushed peas and carrots.
(They continue talking and eating until James leans over to her with a question for her from his father.)
James: Papi wants to know how your wrestling is going? He and mami have been watching you because they can get that channel down here.
Ves (she looks shocked) They don't get your BAWF?
James: We are in Mexico and BAWF only appears on the local stations. Nowhere down here.
Ves: Youtube? Hulu? Crackle? Netflix.
James: (shrugs) I keep telling them that.... (he lets the sentence die off.) Anyway.
Ves (James intreprets for her) It's been going really good. I won my debut match. Then I beat Joey Madrox, I hope you were able to watch that.
Mother (intrepets through James): We did? You were impressive.
Ves: Pero, gracias for watching. I appreciate that you watch what we do.
Father: We can't get a show from James until he sends us a video or Youtube's us. But you we can watch anytime. You are... very inspiring. Keep up good work.
Ves: Awwww.... thank you.

(We see the adults are watching the Mexican World Championships of Futbal. Mexico City DF vs. Monterrey Mexico Futbal Club. Vespertine sits on the couch between Armando and James cradling in his arms. A small child, one of Ricardo’s and Amalia’s daughters comes up to her and asks her something. She gets comfy and lets the child crawl onto her lap and they start reading a book together. As they read, whenever Mexico DF scores a goal, everyone jumps up to celebrate)
::scene shimmer and change::
(Some of the adults, including Vespertine have moved to the kitchen to watch another game, this time, football, Las Vegas Raiders vs. Santa Clara 49ers. We see that the score is 15-10, Raider’s winning. Vespertine isn’t looking happy about this. Indeed her brow is furrowed as her team of the 49ers are losing. Suddenly 49ers gets a touchdown and she jumps up and celebrates and hi fives Ricardo. A child, comes running through, then the grandmother and an aunt come wandering into the kitchen where they get into a heated argument. Ricardo tells them to get out of the way, they tell him off but move on. Ricardo looks at Vespertine and shrugs.)
::scene shimmer and change::
(It is nearing dusk going towards night and we see Vespertine sitting on the floor as both of Ricardo’s daughters are busy braiding her hair. One of them says something and she laughs but as they braid, she is reading them a story. Ameliana is standing in the doorway leaning against the frame watching and interjecting where she can. The little girl asks her something and she responds in the affirmative She turns the page and the girl gets some lipstick and proceeds to put it on Vespertine’s lips although Vespertine already has lipstick on. We can see Vespertine is trying to be patient although that was never her strong suit.)
Ameliana: Tag. I’ll tag myself in so you don’t have to put up with this anymore.
Ves: I’m good.
Ameliana: Are you sure?
Ves: Not really. No
(They switch positions and Ameliana tells her to get cleaned up much to the chagrin of the youngest girl. Vespertine laughs as she heads out.)
::scene shimmer and change::
(James has caught Vespertine at the top of the staircase and are talking intimately with each other, Vespertine is coy and is flirting with him and he is picking up the signals. He brushes a stray hair from her ear and leans in to kiss her. One of James’s aunt’s walks by and says something in spanish and they both laugh.)
Ves: DId I hear that right?
James: You did, she said “Get a room!” That’s a good idea but not right now. Right now, we have to behave in la casa de mi padre.
(an older child goes running by as they walk downstairs to the futbal games.)

(In the nice cool Puerta Vallarta night, Vespertine swims in their pool. Currently underwater, she comes up and blows out a breathe. She does a few laps before leaning back and floating on top of the water. She does this for several minutes before she swims to the steps. She goes over to the nearest lounge chair where her clothes are, clothes in this case being a turquoise sarong and a black hoodie. She sits by herself and stares into the pool. She stares into the turquoise water, then James comes out to see how she is doing.)
James: Are you ok? Why are you alone out here?
Ves: I went for a swim because the water is 86 degrees. But suddenly I'm missing family. And for some odd reason, missing my parents. Buddha only knows why. But yeah, I'll be in, in a few, got the AW camera crew here for a promo.
(He kisses her and she smiles coyly up at him. He goes back inside and she goes back to staring at the pool lights for a little bit before going out to address her opponent for her upcoming match at Turmoil. Her phone beeps and she looks at it. Then the younger daughter of Amalina runs up to her.)
Child: Ms. V, can I sit with you out here. You look lonely.
Ves: And what, pray tell, Ms. Lydiana are you doing up at this hour? Aren’t you supposed to be in bed? No es escuela manana?
Child: No. No escuela manana. No tienes dormir por un otra hora.
Ves: Okkkkk…. If you say so. Go on in, find a spot and get a good book. Vamos bien! I want to be alone for a little bit longer. Ok?
(The child nods and leaves. Vespertine gets up, wraps the sarong around her, puts her high heels on and sneaks out the back ivy covered gate where the camera crew is waiting for her to be let in.)

Scene 2
(She looks around, sighs dejectedy and a flash of anger crosses her face. She isn't scared of Sitcom so much as she is frustrated and disappointed. Two feelings you wouldn't normally associate with anyone who is about to face the man known as Sitcom. The US Championship lies on the chaise lounge in front of her.)
Ves: Sitcom. You weak ass pussy punk bitch. Instead of manning up, growing balls and going after the World heavyweight Title, you decide to come crawling back to me to try and regain the US Title. Is your pussy ass afraid that Jolee will beat you? Or what Jolee CAN do to you? You had all the chances in the world last week to insert yourself into the World Heavyweight Spotlight regardless of what management said or did and despite anything that Downfall would tell you. He can't argue with you. You've beat him, right? You can beat him again. Instead, what do you do? You send your weak ass manager to my dressing room to try and take it back. Look how well that turned out. You don't deserve this belt that I'm keeping for you. And really is it your belt anymore?
(We see anger and frustration growing in her eyes.)
You did the exact wrong thing, I KNEW you were going to do. You didn't even try and take the title belt back, you didn't even try and face me down in my dressing room. You sent your weak little sidekick to come and take it. You disappoint me, Sitcom. Insert your own fucking laugh track here. You aren't worthy to even grace the ring with me. Not now. Not ever.
(She looks at the title and strokes it.)
It's been forever tarnished by your weak ass. I should throw this into the sea. I should give this to a homeless person on the street. Damaged property courtesy of Sitcom. This doesn't even belong to me. Why am I still keeping it for you? Because you want it? Why do you still want it? Why aren't you going after Jolee. Trying for the World Title. I'm just so disgusted that you would even try to attempt what you attempted last week. It just shows me that you have no balls.
(She takes the title and chucks it over the lounge. You hear it drop heavily on the floor behind.)
It seems you don't want the World title belt and you're too weak to insert yourself into the World Title picture. This title makes me look weak because you were weak. You couldn't even focus on the one thing that mattered.
(She gets up, goes behind the lounge, grabs the title and goes to the trash can nearest the back fence. She opens it)
Nope, you besmirched it's reputation, it's not even worth my time to defend it. And why should I? Because you are a 600 lb gorilla? Because what you say goes? Because your manager is in your ear and pants? No, dumbass you are just a weak little boy wanting to play with big boys and failing. You never could hang which is why you couldn't beat Jolee. You couldn't hang on to your title. You manager couldn't take it away from me. And now you come back to try and reclaim it.
(She throws it into the trash and closes it. She brushes her hands off like wiping off dirt.)
Do I care if I just pissed you off? No. I don't even care if you beat me at Turmoil even. In fact I dare you to beat me. Because I know I'm better than you. By the fact alone that I managed to take your title AND outsmart your manager. But I still have to do a fucking promo against you. Even if you manage to win, I'll still come out looking all the better because I took what you owned and took away your shot at greatness. AND I wasn't even damaged in the process.
(As she talks, she seems to be getting angrier and angrier)
Do I care if you are bigger, stronger, meaner than me? Not...at....all In fact, I probably won't even bring the title to the ring. But I have to face you AND teach you a lesson. A lesson you're dumb ass won't even understand. You lose sight, you lose focus. You lose focus, you... lose...
(She glares rather intensely at us as she puts a foot against the wall)
EVERYTHING!
(She continues but stops as sirens go by a block away. Then continues.)
How does it feel to be an absolute failure, Sitcom? Not even a good joke. A one season failure. You think you are going to take that belt back. By snapping me in two. Think again wise ass. Ask your manager what happened. In the last week ALONE you let two girls beat your dumb ass physically and then mentally. I didn't interfere in your match against Jolee until after it was over. And she still won!
(She sighs and smiles sadly. She adjusts her top before she talks as she thinks she is showing.)
Really, all you are is one big fucking dumb joke. A big fucking man with a small ass dick who can't think for himself so needs a smaller dick of a manager to guide him. Get rid of the manager, get a new gimmick and probably then you may be able to beat me. Probably then people will take you seriously.
(She leans back against the wall and for a mere moment, a shadow of sadness crosses her face.)
I'm not scared Sitcom, I'm just really frustrated and disappointed in you. You could be bigger, meaner, stronger, and even smarter.
(mockingly gasps)
YES! Smarter. What do you think about that, dumb ass. A smart giant. Who woulda thunk it!
(She leans against the wall, adjusts her bikini bottom then continues)
You say I won't beat you? That I can't beat you? I say: "I do it because I can, I can because I want to. I want to because you say...."
(Focuses again on us)
I can't." But what do you care. Just keeping listening to your sorry ass manager and make it easy for us.
(She goes off screen and camera fades to black)
