Turmoil First Round
Jessie Lee vs. Teo Blaze
Ethan Miller: The following is scheduled for ONE FALL, and it is an OPENING ROUND MATCH in the 2023 WRESTLER OF THE YEAR TOURNAMENT!!
The Cruiserclash crowd buzzes with excitement.
Jimmy Garcia: One time per year, Action Wrestling selects it's best and brightest to go head to head in a tournament with the highest stakes, to be crowned Wrestler Of The Year! This always includes the elite, best and brightest from Clash AND Cruiserclash! We're in for a real highlight, as tonight's tournament match is going to take place on Cruiserclash!!
Lexi Stone: This is a huge deal for our show!!
The lights begin flashing wildly, alternating between plain white light and dark red shades, as a haunting, almost sinister sound fills the arena. Suddenly, a roaring guitar riff echoes throughout the arena as a crash of static appears on the screens, followed by a message:
Technical Difficulties, Please do not Adjust your Set.
Ethan Miller: Introducing first... from Houston, Texas, weighing in at 195 lbs... He is one half of the AW Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions.... TEO BLAZE!!
Then, without warning, the static is consumed by a smiling, dark red face as the ramp lights up with a burst of flame! The instant the flames fade, standing in the center, as though the flames themselves had summoned him, is Teo Blaze. He wears a bright red and gold mask over his face, matching the face that appeared on the tron moments ago. He turns towards the ring, his head hanging slightly to one side limply, even unnaturally, then slowly, he reaches up, and with his left hand...he removes the mask to reveal his face, an expression of wild abandon etched across it, a crooked smile showing a row of bright teeth. With a sinister laugh, he begins walking purposefully towards the ring, his eyes wild with anticipation- yet there is a determined swagger in his step, and as he walks up the stairs to the ring, he holds out the mask in front of him with one hand, the smile on his face matching the mask's smile perfectly. Finally, he steps into the ring, stretching loosely and preparing for the match.
Jimmy Garcia: Teo always has shone in matches like this, and always appears as somewhat of a dark horse, but I like to think matches like these serve as a reminder of just how good Teo is!
Lexi Stone: You took the words right out of my mouth, Garcia!.....Give them back. Now.
Ethan Miller: And his opponent...
ONE FINGER AND A FIST,
I'll CLAW MY WAY OUT OF ANY SITUATION!
I GOT A 1 2 PUNCH
I'll FIGHT MY WAY OUT OF ANY CONFRONTATION!
While the unmistakable sound of Drowning Pools' One Finger and a Fist pumping throughout the arena, the various lights began to swirl and move about at a frantic pace. Yet, it was the alarmingly fierce-looking woman that walked out onto the Revolution1 stage that drew the attention of the fans. Clad in black leather and a mean look in her eyes, the woman stood at the top of the ramp; hands tagging on the inside of the black studded vest she wore.
Ethan Miller: "Making her way to the ring from Perth, Western Australia, weighing in a 150 lbs... the Aussie Assault... JESSIE LEE!!
With the announcement of her name, the pugilist powerhouse descends down the rampway and proceeds to circle around the ring as she interacts with various fans along the way. Until she shifts her gaze to the ring, that is. With a sudden burst of speed, she slides into the ring and springs up to her feet; talking a metric ton of trash as she haphazardly throws her vest to the outside of the ring. Clearly, this Aussie was here to fight.
Jimmy Garcia: Jessie Lee has been a force to be reckoned with in the US division as of late, but she really wants a win in the opening round of WOTY, and she's been selected to make the journey to Cruiserclash to take on Blaze!
Lexi Stone: Yeah, she stepped all the way down from a Revolution1 stage to get here, apparently!!
Jessie calls for a tie-up, and as they go for a collar-elbow Jessie clearly begins overpowering Teo and shoving him downwards, forcing him back. Finally, Jessie throws Teo halfway across the ring. Teo looks a bit put off by being shoved around by someone on paper smaller, but he gamely rolls to his feet with an unhinged grin. Jessie holds her hands out again for a tieup, but Teo slips away under her arms and begins lighting Jessie's legs up with kicks. He sweeps around her side and kicks her in the hamstring several times. Finally, though, Jessie catches Teo's leg, puts her hand on his chest and throws him down to the mat with force. Teo quickly gets to his feet, and Jessie whips him to the ropes and on the return drops him with a back body drop. Teo gets to his feet and takes a discus clothesline, then as he gets back up he is hit with a back elbow. Teo gets to his feet holding his back and Jessie lifts him up with a military press, and she drops him face first on the canvas. Teo gets to his feet one more time. Jessie runs at him for a clothesline, but Teo ducks under it and begins firing away with forearm shots to the face, and mixing in a few straight kicks to the midesction. He walks Jessie over to the turnbuckle and goes to slam her face into it, but Jessie overpowers him and elbows him off. Teo backs off, holding his face, and Jessie explodes out of the corner with a clothesline.
Jimmy Garcia: Oh! What power by Jessie!
Lexi Stone: You don't see many women built like that, that's for sure.
Jessie lifts Teo up by the head and goes to irish whip him to the ropes, but on the return he slides under her legs behind her, then as Jessie turns around Teo trips her with a drop toehold before floating into an illegal turtling position and begins unloading punches into the back of her head. The referee tells Teo about the closed fists, and he respectfully backs off. Teo lifts Jessie up a little and gives her a knee lift. He grips her head and starts giving her a few mounted punches, then he applies a rear chinlock. Jessie flails her arms, as Teo tightens the hold. Jessie uses all her strength the push Teo over towards the ropes, but Teo keeps the chinlock applied. Jessie tries to fight to her feet. Teo shakes his head, saying she should give up, and twists her neck. Jessie slowly fights to her feet as she grips Teo's legs and lifts him up on her back, and with a burst of strength she runs backwards and squashes Teo into the corner. She does this again, squashing Teo behind her in the corner, and finally Teo loosens the hold. Jessie hangs on, paces forward a few steps, and then comes in with a lot of velocity to crush Teo in the corner. Teo comes staggering out, and Jessie irish whips him with force into the opposite corner. When he comes staggering out, holding his back, Jessie lays him across the ropes, and she gives him a big open-handed slap across the chest, drawing a "WHOOOO!" from the crowd. Teo screams and jumps and holds his chest in pain. Jessie throws Teo into the corner, and gives him another big overhand slap, and Teo staggers out, holding his chest in pain. Jessie whips him into the opposite corner, and she comes running at him, looking for a big corner clothesline. Teo flings his elbow out and nails Jessie. She staggers back to the middle of the ring. Teo runs at her, but he is caught by a big powerslam from Jessie. She holds on for the pin.
Jimmy Garcia: This is definitely a type matchup you wouldn't expect to see, because while Teo has a bit more muscle, his game is based on quick movements and lucha offense, while Jessie Lee is based around explosive power!
Lexi Stone: So he's going to be looking to hit a shooting star into a poisoncanrana off of the apron, and she's going to look to break his back like a twig! Got it!!
The referee: One...
Two... Kickout.
Jessie stares at the referee, frustrated. Jessie motions for Teo to get up, and as he gets up, still doubled over she runs off the ropes. However, she attempts a running knee lift and he spins away at the last second and counters into a swinging reverse neckbreaker. Teo goes for a cover now.
The referee: One… Kickout.
Teo gauges where Jessie is, as she's already rolling over, and Teo runs past her once, going to the ropes behind her, then shooting forward and gaining momentum. As Jessie pulls herself to her feet, he peels off a Sling Blade. He drops a leg across her throat before going for another cover.
The referee: One…
Two… Jessie furiously kicks out.
Teo lifts Jessie up for a rolling vertical suplex, but Jessie blocks with her foot, elbows Teo’s hold loose, then lifts him up in a vertical suplex before flipping him forward so that he lands on his stomach. Teo rolls around, holding his stomach, and then Jessie lifts him up and punishes him with a harsh backbreaker. Jessie applies a dragon sleeper hold to Teo. Dean asks Teo to give up, but he waves his hand to say he won’t. Jessie has her knee dug in his back as she pulls Teo downward. Finally, Teo’s arms begin shaking with energy as he starts fighting his way up, and then he swings his leg up and kicks her in the face, twice. Jessie releases the hold. Teo takes a second to catch his breath, then he begins elbowing a rising Jessie in the stomach. She floors him with a club to the back. Jessie lifts Teo to his feet and decimates him with a dangerous DDT, then covers.
Jimmy Garcia: This action has been fast and furious so far!
Lexi Stone: After all... it's about family.
Jimmy Garcia: What? No... it's about being Wrestler Of the Year, an important accolade in AW.
Lexi Stone: ...But isn't family the most important? I took notes on this...
The referee: One…
Two… Kickout.
A frustrated Jessie lifts Teo up, and hooks him in position for a Dead Drop powerbomb into the buckles. But as she has Teo up over her head, Teo kick the back of Jessie’s head and floats out of her grasp behind her, and when he lands on his feet, Jessie turn around right into a spinning back kick, aka the Habanero Hurricane, from Teo, which sends her loopy and tottering off, falling into the ropes. Teo runs past her. Jessie staggers to her feet right into a springboard crossbody from Teo. Teo gets to his feet, pacing around and getting fired up, and then as Jessie pulls herself up he hits a spinning wheel kick. Teo then does a double springboard up to the top rope and hits a Best Moonsault Ever!, staying on top for the cover.
Jimmy Garcia: Teo has been en fuego since the bell rang!
Lexi Stone: Reminding me of the white ladies who smile with all teeth when they ask the waiter at the Mexican restaurant for a margarita, extra salt, and say "grassy-ass" at the end there, Garcia!
Jimmy Garcia: I'm literally of Latinx descent, pinche gringa!
The referee: One…
Two… Kickout.
Jessies pulls herself up using the ropes. Teo eggs her to get up. He backs up and runs to the opposite ropes then charges Jessie across the ring, but as he gets close to her she scoops him up in a military press and lifts him high over her head, keeping his forward momentum going by throwing him out of the ring and making him splatter across the announce table, which shakes violently but does not break. The announcers vacate their chairs.
Jimmy Garcia: Incoming!
Lexi Stone: Ouch, he looks rough.
Jimmy Garcia: This desk has been reinforced, that did more damage to him than anything.
Lexi Stone: I’m glad, cause I’m tired of people messing up my desk, it’s where I hide my liquor.
Jessie stands on the apron, waiting for Teo to start pulling himself up on the table, and she flies off the apron herself, but Teo moves and Jessie simply smacks her face off the table and bounces off. The crowd erupts in amazement at Jessie’s attempt. Both Teo and Jessie are down for the moment by the announce table. The ref tells both competitors to get in the ring. Teo lifts Jessie up and slams her head off the apron a few times. In the ring, the referee warns Teo to get in the ring. Teo walks Jessie over and attempts to slam her face into the steel step, but she blocks and punches him. Jessie backs up, and she runs at Teo, but he drop toeholds her so that she actually falls face first across the top of the steel steps. Teo then quickly climbs in the ring, breaking the count the official had started, springs up to the top rope and then jumps off with a diving double foot stomp, smashing Jessie’s face into the steel ring steps. The crowd erupts into a loud “Holy shit” chant.
Jimmy Garcia: TEO GOING UTTERLY UNHINGED WITH THAT SHOT, SHOWING THAT DEVIL MAY CARE STYLE!
Several long moments pass as Teo blinks and holds his shoulder, having bumped it in the fall after completing the double foot stomp, and he lays out in the aisle. Jessie Lee lays limply on the steel steps, selling it as if she might be dead. At length, Teo grits his teeth and picks his way to his feet, his hands blindly grasping for Jessie Lee and grabbing her leg. Teo attempts to lift a limp Jessie up, but she weakly pushes him off. He clubs her over the back a few more times and rolls her into the ring. Teo grabs the head weakly, trying to hook her for a diamond cutter, but Jessie is able to push him off to the ropes and as he returns, he eats a desperation, out of nowhere Super(wo)man Punch!. Jessie collapses, her legs too weak to sustain her, and she is too injured to make a cover for several moments.
Jimmy Garcia: JESSIE LEE IS FIGHTING BACK, SHOWING THAT HEART! SHE WANTS TO MOVE TO THE NEXT ROUND!
Lexi Stone: SHE NEEDS TO COVER HIM!
Groggily, Jessie drapes an arm over Teo... the referee slides in to make the count.
The referee: One...
Two...
Thre - Kickout.
The crowd explodes, as Jessie slumps off Teo, a shook expression on her face as if she's unsure what she has to do, but has to summon the will and dig deep to get there. Grimacing, after all the brutal battles, especially with Sitcom as of late, Jessie looks down at Teo with a snarl. Jessie slowly gets to her feet, checking for blood. She lifts Teo up and plants him with an Argentine backbreaker, dropping him off her shoulder and flinging him to the mat like a sack of potatoes. Now, Jessie goes for another cover, sensing victory.
Jimmy Garcia: BISHBREAKER CONNECTS! TEO IS HURTING BAD!The referee: One...
Two...
Three - Kickout!
Jessie Lee shouts and slaps the mat, eyes blazing (so to speak) as she looks up, shouting that that was three. The referee, obviously, disagrees, and Jessie snarls at him, getting up and slapping her hands to show him how to count to three. Which, I'm pretty sure he knows. Finally, Jessie turns away. Teo is lifeless in the middle of the ring, but Jessie suddenly smirks. She grabs Teo’s arm and drags him over to a corner, goes over to the ropes, and starts climbing to the top rope. She then tries to jump off with a Vader bomb on the prone Teo, but he rolls out of the way and she just hits the mat chest first, groaning. Teo gets to his feet, and in one smooth motion he blasts Jessie with a buzzsaw kick, which drops her and rolls her over. Teo rests, holding the ropes and taking in big, gasping lungfuls of air, and he peeks back at Jessie as she shakes the cobwebs out and rolls to one knee. Teo, moving half a step at a time, hops up and springboards back off the ropes, taking her down with a springboard cutter.
Jimmy Garcia: PSYCHOGUN!!Teo scrambles into the cover.
The referee and the crowd: One...
Two...
Three- Kickout!
Teo smiles to himself in frustration. Telling himself to keep his head screwed on straight and not listen to what that little voice in his head, maybe telling him to go apeshit wants, he goes to the ropes and slides out to the apron to set himself up for a springboard. He waits for Jessie to get to her feet, and he comes off with a flying shoulder block, taking her down. Teo holds his shoulder for a second as if he just ran into a brick wall instead of a slightly smaller wrestler. Teo climbs to the top rope once again, and he motions to the crowd, and then he flies off with a big frog splash. He hangs on for a pin.
The referee and the crowd: One...
Two...
Three - Kickout.
Jimmy Garcia: Where is she getting this from?!
Lexi Stone: Hell if I know but I wish she'd send it back!Jimmy Garcia: Both of these competitors want to move past the opening round in a big way!!Teo stares down at Jessie like "What the hell?" then his face twists into a snarl. The aggrressive side of Teo is asserting itself as he lifts her up, and whips her into the corner. He comes in looking for a Stinger splash, but she moves out of the way. He staggers out, holding his chest, and Jessie runs off the ropes and nails him with a Brogue kick. Teo stumbles around the ring for a second like the flight path of a bumblebee, and then flops face first on the mat.
Jimmy Garcia: FATALITY! DOMMY MOMMY LEE HITS THE FATALITY! SHE IS GOING TO THE NEXT ROUND!!The referee and the crowd: One...
Two...
Three -
TEO PUTS HIS FOOT ON THE BOTTOM ROPE!
The crowd erupts in a mix of shock and elation at the breathless false finish, and the referee waves the count off. Jessie Lee, who only a millisecond before knew it in her heart that she won, slowly starts to sink in as a dark expression of disappointment crosses her face. Teo is staring straight up at the lights, dazed. The crowd is starting a riotous "THIS IS AWESOME" chant.
Lexi Stone: While you may have to take back that unfortunate "Dommy Mommy" call from just a second ago, Garcia, this match has been an absolute classic!Jimmy Garcia: Both of these top level competitors are giving everything they have! Both Jessie and Teo are laid on the mat, breathing heavily as the crowd applauds wildly and cheers them both on. Jessie is pushing herself up, as Teo is slowly starting to roll over. Finally, both competitors sluggishly roll onto their knees, facing each other, and, moving as if underwater, Teo comes in with a slap to Jessie's ear which sends sweat flying into the front row! Jessie fires back with a shot that rocks Teo and sends spit flying as well. Both competitors get up, firing up as they do, bodies shaking with adrenaline, and begin trading right hands!
Jimmy Garcia: THEY'RE TRADING BOMBS LEFT AND RIGHT! WHO IS GOING TO GET THE BETTER OF WHO??Jessie stops Teo hard with a knee to the gut, dropping him to one knee... and she grabs the arms for a double underhook, looking from side to side and shouting that it's over... but before Jessie can lift Teo up for the spinning double underhook facebuster, Teo spins out of it to the side and tripping Jessie. Jessie gets to one knee and eats a BLAZING KNEE right to the temple, and Teo collapses on top of her!
Jimmy Garcia: Lee is calling for it! She's just a second away from planting Teo with the LEETHALITY -- NO! Teo pulls her legs out from under her... BLAZING KNEE! BLAZING KNEE, QUICK AS A HICCUP!!
Lexi Stone: That may have been Teo's last spark!!Teo drapes over Jessie Lee, and the referee slides in.
The referee and the crowd: One...
Two...
Three!!
Ding Ding Ding
"Dance With The Dead" hits on the PA, as Teo sits up, anguish and emotion written all over his face due to the grueling sprint, and the referee holds his hand up. Jessie Lee appears to be out.
Lexi Stone: Teo Blaze has done it! Teo Blaze advances to the next round of Wrestler Of The Year!!Jimmy Garcia: Take nothing away from Jessie Lee tonight, she showed up to Cruiserclash tonight definitely ready to fight! She gave one of the greatest Cruiserweights of all time all he could handle!Teo climbs on the ropes, firing up the crowd and making hand motions, as the referee checks on Jessie Lee, who is rolling to the apron.
Jimmy Garcia: What a MATCH! We have to take a commercial break after that!!
